  • That's a good deal. The 380g jar is $6.60 at Coles.

    • +11

Fun Fact: 560g jar is an even $20 at Sydney International Airport Duty Free.

      • +3

You have to blame the fools who pay that.

        • Tourists will be tourists.

      • That’s not very fun at all

      • +2

My bad, I've spoken in error. $19.00 (tax free). Bargain.

Id take the best before date with a grain of salt (no pun intended)….. This stuff will taste the same in 2028.

    • +3

I feel like vegemite comes expired out of the jar

    • +2

It looks the same going in as it does coming out the other end - so an expiry date is probably irrelevant!

    • +1

I've seen a jar of it that was 70 years old. I'm sure it will outlive us all.

    • Ive been seeing how true this is. So far so good. I was of the same opinion and still have 3 jars from this same situation 12 months ago.

    • -1

I don't know why people always say this.

The only products I have tasted that taste the same fresh as they do after the best before date are things like honey or anything that has 90+% of sugar.

Everything else is noticeable, although its completely up to you if you mind the taste difference or not.

    • Also had a jar 12 months after expiry which tasted absolutely no different.

  • +1

    Excellent price!

  • +1

Just saw they were $2 at Bondi junction

    • -1

    • +1

Down voted also just to make it an even - 14.

    • Only -19?

We can't even get to -20?!

To think you call yourself australian…

      Edit: yay :D

These are the leftover jars from 'the put your own name on a Vegemite jar' promotion. Doesn't seem like it was very popular.

    • I was about to ask why Kmart was selling Vegemite :)

    • It was really popular for Nutella but not for vegemite, we had heaps of leftovers after Xmas of vege but no Nutella

    • +3

We bought one for our youngest who loves Vegemite, but just keep peeling off the label and putting it on a new jar when it runs out!

  • +2

These for $5 at my local KMart yesterday so likely prices will vary depending on store

  • expires???? lol

  • Last I heard you can make alcohol with vegemite.

  • +2

A friend of mine mentioned that nutella was $1 at Kmart in Gungahlin, ACT, expiring at the end of the year

  • Great for treating mouth ulcers thanks!

    • accidentally stumbled across that one?

      • Read it on some home remedies website that for the past year have been looking for but cant find it again

    • Wait what? Is this serious? TMI but I get ulcers a lot

      • I read somewhwre that the high lvl of Vit B in vegemite burns off the ulcer.

You need to scrub off the white head of the ulcer then apply the vegemite on to it. Its gonna burn pretty bad but should do the trick

        • Lol are you trolling me? You can't scrub that shit off, that's not how it works….

        • @ippy:

OK maybe not the scrubbing part but it does seem to work…https://www.myhomeremedies.com/remedy.cgi?remedyid=21434

      • +1

I wouldn't put Vegemite on it.
If you do get mouth ulcerations quite frequently try this: http://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/5737/Kenalog-in-Oraba…

        Well worth the money

        • oh how interesting. Thanks for that.

  • Maybe making way for that new stronger blend of Vegemite I just saw selling at Foodland.

  • Now make it Nutella

If you see any deals like this, donate some to your local food bank/ charity. Getting a regular supply of non-perishables for food parcels is always a bastard.

    • +1

That is a great idea, cheers.

    • +1

Thank you. My family would very much appreciate that. Vegemite is one of my favourite spreads.

  • -1

they must be done with the name on the jar to have them this cheap

  • 455 grams
    455 = ASS
    That's the flavor

    • +1

Nothing wrong with a bit of ass in your life! #yolo

I spread vegemite on my weetbix. Good snack.

      • Never said there was anything wrong with it, just pointed out what it is.

        • I'm betting not many will be prepared to prove you wrong.

  • Newcomers to Vegemite should be weaned onto the stuff. They make a spreadable blend of Vegemite and cheese, which is milder but you are still exposed to the taste without the intensity. Then perhaps try the similar (British) Promite, readily found in the supermarkets. It's sweeter and doesn't have as much punch. It's a bit like drinking hard liquor for the first time, you really need to ramp up and get used to it slowly, unless you were exposed to it as a kid and thrown into the deep end.

    • Actually, Promite is an Australian product brought about by Henry Lewis & Co which started up in 1926. It later went on to become Masterfoods. Promite is a great alternative to Vegemite as it is a bit sweeter, and is really suited to muffins and crumpets. I suspect you might be thinking of Marmite when you talk about a British spread.

      • I stand corrected, grew up with all of them.

  • +1

Thanks. Like all good Aussies weaned on it I love the stuff. Also reminds me I have to do a grease and oil change on the truck soon.

  • Wow cheap! And good expiry too!

  • +1

National clearance pricing is $2. These Vegemite jars are surplus Christmas stock for the personalized jars. Don't think any stores are going below $2, the store that is pictured is an exception. $2 is well below cost price so most stores are HODL until they are gone at $2.

    • +1

Love the HODL reference there. Might check out my local store as $2 is still a bargain.

  • +2

My local they scan at $5

    • Thanks for letting us know, I won't go to the local now.
