That's an amazing price! It was good value at $315 (which I paid) and still don't regret it at that price.

    • yeah.. that's an insane price.. :)

    • -2

Great machine but isn’t the suction too strong? Mine sticks to the floor!

      • +4

You're aware you can adjust it with the plus/minus buttons? :)

  • +1

Got that $70 Bosch deal from appliancesonline.

Anybody know the difference between the two?

So far, I'm having forward vacuuming carpets as the suction is too damn strong. Can't find a way around it beside hitting the weights.

    • +1

I have the same problem (with the Miele). Maybe a replacement head with wheels would help?

      • Hmm know any places to buy?

    • What do you mean “forward vacuuming”?

Can’t you put it on the lowest setting?

      • The normal way to vacuum. Going forward. With the Bosch, I have to drag it backwards. Otherwise it won't move without breaking my back. I even put it in lowest setting

    • I have the miele cat and dog and also bought the $70 bosch. Dont get me wrong, the Bosch is a great compact vacuum and very handy and portable but the two are like night and day, just comparing the quality of the pipe bit (no idea what the correct term for that piece is), the Miele is in a different class (and price) altogether. The only thing I can suggest is getting a turbo brush head that thing eats dirt and dust for breakfast. Gives a far deeper clean and does have the wheels for an easy vacuum. I can push back and forwards easily without much effort. Bloody expensive though, I think its about $100 but even at that price its worth it. Maybe there's a cheaper similar alternative.

      • +1

I bought the turbo brush head a few years back and even though it cost $100 (roughly) it's worth the cost. It picks up so much pet and wife hair that would otherwise lie embedded within the carpet.

I highly recommend it. Would also stick to genuine Miele accessories. You would exactly buy a Ferrari and use Woolworths motor oil would you?

    Great price. Great deal.
    Too bad it sucks.
    Upvoted.

  • +4

Make sure to use it at midnight like my upstairs neighbours

    • If you run it on the lowest setting its actually not that bad. Though, I doubt your neighbours do that!

  • +1

I have had mine for just over 12 months. Cannot fault it. And this is a cracker of a price.

    • +3

      But no upvote.

      That sucks.

      • Yes it does. Corrected.
        Thanks.

  • This one or a Dyson V6??

    • Same choice as me!

    • +2

they complement each other, v6 when you are feeling lazy otherwise this

    • The Dyson is portable. However, the Miele is a much better vacuum cleaner, Also, not having to mess around d emptying the canister is nice, despite the need to buy bags (although they hold far more than any bagless systems do).

      • Forgive my dumb question. So for this Vacuum cleaner, you have to buy bags? Approximately how long does one bag last?

        • EBay have bags you can get, like 15 bags for 20 bucks. I'm guessing a new bag after 10-20 clean ups.

        • @kamac93: you'd be surprised how long a bag lasts.

          Approx 3 months

        • +1

          @kamac93:

Every generic vacuum bag from eBay that I've tried has unfortunately torn within an hour of use. If you don't notice it has happened, this can cause damage to the unit.

        • You can probably get 3 months out of a bag as mentioned by someone else. If you really want, you can cut the bag open and staple it back together, some people say this works fine. Keep in mind that a key "feature" of using bags is dust-free disposal. On the previous Dyson's we had, emptying the canister was a bit of a messy process. This is especially true for the V6, for which I always have to use my finger or something to dislodge the long fibres that wrap around the inner-cylinder in the canister. I think Dyson improved the V8 emptying system, I know the V6 one is utterly horrible to deal with. I think the dirt has just "faller out" upon opening the trap one time, every other time I've had to pull dirt out.

          @Suspect420:
If you don't use it, it will last forever.

        • @Shiny Mew: I've bought the miele bags. I want to ensure the dust filters are the best possible. Don't like the idea of the 2000w motor blowing all the dust out

        • @no not me: the button you press to flip the bottom door open, press it a second time and the whole body comes off for easy emptying. I struggled like you for a while when I bought one before discovering this.

    • +2

Complements, not substitutes. There is no Dyson that comes close to the cleaning ability of a Miele.

    • Two different item, one is portable one sucks good.
Get both, but at least get V7 over V6.

  • Anyone know what this would be like on wooden floors? Just moved into a new place and don’t want to wreck the floors :)

    • Fine for wooden floors, you want to avoid using the turbobrush on those floors but that comes with the cat and dog version not this

Edit: they have a hard floor specific vacuum head too

  • No expensive included turbo head unfortunately, which is what my family has always used on the house carpets. It's just not the same without it!

    • Totally agreed and costing $100 to buy separately it might be better to wait for the cat and dog model to go on sale which has the regular sized turbo brush and a small one for couches / carpets etc.

    • Do you know if the Turbo Head is necessary for hard floors (wood)? We don't have carpet so I'm thinking this vacuum may be perfect for us and I'm close to pulling the trigger.

  • Generic turbo brush for 24.50 works fine. No need to buy the original My only fault is it’s a bit noisy but it does what it’s designed to do
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VACUUM-TURBO-HEAD-NOZZLE-35MM-FIT…

  • I kinda figured there must be a copy version, not really rocket science. Definitely suggest getting one of these or similar if it perform a similar job to the original if anyone does grab this vacuum.

  • What’s the best place to buy bags? And does the vacuum come with any?

  • I paid $314 at David Jones and thought it was a good price. This IS insane. Agree with others, a head with wheels would make cleaning carpers much a easier

  • Great machine and dont forget for to get a Turbo Pre-Filter Dust and Hair Catcher - I was reluctant to spend $50 on a plastic bowl but fits any vaccuum and easily the best $50 you will ever spend.

    • Where can you buy this from?

      • Godfreys etc or if you search ebay you will find them at around 49-50
It grabs all the heavies and saves cleaning your filters every 5mins

    • +1

Hi, if you don't mind, could u pls point us to some of the eBay URLs.. I am really not sure how those look like?

      • +1

This is just one brand - Only $30 but available at most of the vacuum outlets as well.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbo-Dust-Interceptor-Vacuum-Ba…

Fits at the top of the tube and very easy to separate the clear plastic bowl to empty. If you have a dog these are a must imo - pick up all my big fellas hair and stops it clogging the main filters. Cheers, Wayne

        • Thank you - Much appreciated

  • Absolutely insane price. Would not go back to normal Vaccuum now

  • Does it come with a hepa filter?

    • No. Just their normal filter. I bought a hepa filter separately. It fits fine.

  • Who can compare with cx1?

  • Awesome, bought based on comments here.
Thanks OZ for doing the research for me.

  • How is this vacuum on a wooden floor with it's included attachment?

And would you recommend another attachment for a wooden floor?

    • +1

      Out of stock!

Damn, I knew I should've just pulled the trigger and asked questions later….the golden rule of OzBargain

      • +1

        Ouch..thats so true..
Also , an upvote would have reserved 1 stock for you ;-)

        • Oh, I didn't realize that!
          Have an upvote anyway :)

        • +1

@JTTheMan: hehehe.. no worries..i was just kidding :D

    • +1

Will work fine, just use the brushed head option so it won't scratch the floors.

The dedicated wooden floors head is worth buying, super light and easy maneuverability. My recent most Miele purchase came with the wooden floors attachment and turbo brush (different model to the above posted)

Thanks Being Askhole. Ordered one this morning.

      no problem.. cheers !! :)

Would be keen as on getting a powered turbo head too. Thx

    • +3

It’s back in stock but coupon doesn’t work

      • yeah.. thanks.. updated the post.. but if no luck with PAPAERS then PRONTO is still available..

      • Strange. At the top of the listing it says that you can get 20% off with code PAPERS. Might be worth contacting eBay about it for anyone who wants it.

  • If anyone doesn't want theirs anymore I am happy to purchase.

  • +1

For those that missed out, this vacuum is listed on the Bing Lee site at 299. They've no stock left but I got TGG to price match today.
