Just a note, whilst the games are region-free. I don't believe BluRay's are.

    • +1

Good shout. The US is region A, we are region B.

      https://support.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-one/apps/watch-bluray-dv…

      • Cant we change the region on the player?
PS allows changing the region for few times? so does most of the other DVD/BR players

        • No, it doesn't appear to let you change region. I tried it on an Australian XBox One S (didn't want to try it on my XB1X, but the result should be the same for XBox One X).

          Test 1 - AUS Region B Blu-ray Movie Disc - Works fine
Test 2 - USA Region A Blu-ray Movie Disc - Error: Mismatch between disc and player region codes.

So, for an XB1S or XB1X from the states, you would get opposite results. However, blu-ray players are quite cheap now. I normally only play UHD Blu-ray discs on XB1S/XB1X. Standard blu-ray discs, I just play them on a normal player.

    • Many blurays are region locked, but there's a decent list of ones that are region free.

      • +1

And you can check at www.blu-ray.com which blu-ray movie titles are region free before purchasing. Makes it much easier to tell.

    • +3

If you are buying 4K UHD BDs they are all region free. If you have a One X and aren’t running 4K content you probably should have bought the One S in the first place.

      • +5

The One S can do 4K UHD as well, though?

Really, the One X is for gamers that want 4K games.

        • Yes the One S does blu-ray 4K and Netflix 4K. It just doesn't do 4K gaming like the One X does.

Great price for the Switch - anyone bought from these guys before? Any problems with getting into Australia?

    • +4

There is no problem at all!!!! But warranty will hurt you a lot.

      • +1

        Could you please elaborate?

      • Good point.

      • As in if there's any issues within the warranty period, Nintendo AU probably won't sort you out for it. Would most likely need to be dealt with site sellin it. But i'm really hoping I'm wrong and someone corrects me haha

        • Nah I'm fairly certain Nintendo don't do international warranty, so you're in a pickle if there's an issue

  • If I bought the Xbox, could I use my power cable for the One S that I currently have with the One X?

    • -1

      why?
if its just a power cable, cant see why not

      • -1

That's not a useful answer at all.
You know power cables have differing plugs right?

        • +1

It wasn’t a great answer, but they’re kinda right.

The power supply in the One S and One X are internal. Meaning a cable with the correct plug can work with no problems.

You shouldn’t have a problem using the power cable from the One S on the One X, or any other matching cable from another electrical item like a laptop charger.

        • @BillyG687: Right, I knew this was the case, I was just wondering if a cable from the AU would work with the Xbox from the US, and that the power requirements are the same.

        • @OzBMate629: Then yes, so long as the power supply supports 110-240v, which it should.

    • not the most reliable source in the world; but some suggest yes https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/7azurw/one_x_and_o…

    • You can use any standard 2 prong power cord. I am using one that was for a laptop on my XB1X (instead of the original one). Certain earlier batches of XB1X had subpar power cable (some people ended up buying another power cable).

  • I would prefer to buy directly from Amazon US for the price, $299 (+ $13 USD Shipping) on the Nintendo Switch. I'm a little more confident with their return process and generally shipping works out a little faster.

  • Warranty warranty warranty. Can't stress this enough. You'd best wait for domestic deals at these prices. Products can have faults out of the box and can fail. I've had consoles fail in the past, most recently my Xbox One S last year when it out of the blue stopped outputting an HDMI signal.

  • Looking at current GPU prices, Xbox One X looks like a pretty good deal.

  • If I was to purchase the Nintendo Switch it would have the United States power plug, correct?

Would it be fine to just grab a universal power adapter and plug it in through there?

Also having a hard time deciding where to purchase from here or in stores for warranty.

    • For the $50 saving(wish gift cards) vs buying locally(save a few more $$ with a bundle and/or discounted EBgames gift cards), just buy locally, Australian warranty, Australian power plug.

  • No XB1X stock
