oldie! but a goldie! :D
When you get fired
When the security guards are walking you out…
Oh that ones embarrassing, I've seen them frog march one of the guys out, he was demanding a pay rise because he believed he deserved it so he was staging a mini protest by not doing his job and organising stuff for his house he was planning to build.
The turned up at his desk asked him to close down his computer and collect anything that was actually his, I was working on the same floor just around the corner and his old man was part of my team.
It was a bit awkward listening to people calling him an idiot not knowing his old man was standing within earshot.
We knew the whole story but it was never mentioned within our team ever again. His old boy was a good bloke.
When you apply for a full time job at ozbargain or when it takes over your life to such an extent that you can't work :)
When you hate going in. When they hate you and/or you hate them. When you spend every spare moment on your smartphone. When you're watching the clock to knock off.
that's me for 10yrs and counting
I think it's time Funky Dude.
Lol @ and counting
When turning up makes you so sick that you just don't want to go ever again.
that's me for 10yrs and counting
Me too for last 8 month….and still waiting for the day I leave this place 🤔🙄🙄
I have a friend of a friend funny story - He really didn't like his job. He was circling the parking lot trying to find a space, but couldn't find a spare spot. So he drove out and never came back.
When they use you as an example of how not to act in sexual harassment training
Changing jobs is not gonna help you with that. You really need to learn about boundaries and consent
Or become way better looking
Being attractive and sexually harassing someone doesn't change the fact that you are sexually harassing someone
@mnermner:
Yeah but, less likely they will complain about it.
Its a fact.
@ozbjunkie:
No
@mnermner or you learn how s**k arrogant bullying ppl around you !
When you find yourself browsing OzB at work.
When jerking off in the lavatory is the highlight of the day.
So you are the one doing that!
No, I left my job.
Surely, it depends which "occupation" you are more proficient in.
that's me for 10yrs and counting
when it is 5pm
4.30pm for school staff here in VIC ;)
When you feel you have no more room to grow as you have done every role within the team and in two weeks time I will be starting my new role ;p
For me its, when you are sick of going from days to night and getting massive headaches when you wake up. When you are sick of having to constantly be worried about being held up by arseholes with firearms and other weapons. When you are sick of having your life threatened (and even weapons pulled on you) when you are just doing your job. When you are sick of being physically assaulted because people think its cool to hit the manager and security.
Yeah I'm looking at other jobs.
that's me for 10yrs and counting
13 here. It was an good industry back then, when hardcore drugs weren't as big of an issue as now. And I started in clubs, which are good, but now I'm in pubs and its getting more and more buggered.
What job do you do?
I'm thinking something to with the pokies/gaming.
Pub manager.
Time to get out, it doesn't seem healthy for you.
Pub that has pokies?
@JB1:
Yeah pokies pub.
Just kinda over it. That and in the last 2 weeks I've been told I have essential hypertension, and at 30 it's not where I've seen myself at.
Are you in mental health or a nurse? :P
When you wake in a Nursing Home.
There are just too many reasons why people feel they must leave. overworked, underpaid, not appreciated, a'hole colleagues, toxic work culture or simply on feels bored / without challenge.
I know when the above feelings hit me on a daily basis, its time to start putting the feelers out.
I am facing that everyday but can't find another job 🤐
when you create a topic on a bargain site asking "When Do You Know It's Time to Leave Your Job?"
was looking for this! haha thanks for not disappointing
You've got a few answers now, what answer (however vague) did you have before making this post?
inb4 that's me for 10yrs and counting
I came here looking for great comments
When your about to retire and they offer you a redundancy.
My old boss actually did retire then he got bored they rehired him on same conditions because the time he had spent away was not huge, not too much later the company went through a huge cull and he couldn't have been happier he was one of the over 300 picked and he got he full redundancy package it was worth 2 years wages to him because they decided to be lazy and chose to alter his employment absence to leave without pay, he picked up the maximum they could give anyone.
When you wake up in the morning and just want to go back to sleep because you are "tired" but on a weekend you wake up fresh as a daisy because you don't have to go to work.
I can definitely relate to this, but usually because I sleep much better knowing I get to sleep in, then wake up and it's the weekend.
If you don't care if you're fired or not, then it's time to move on.
when bitcoin goes to the MOOOOOOOOOOOOON
When Rupert is telling an LNP person it is time to head the pedallo home; the sky is truly falling. The picture of him perving on the girl next to him is a classic, isn't it. If you are in the public eye always assume they are watching you.
When you're constantly on the Live section of Ozbargain looking for deals and forums to comment on till 5pm
I'm still wondering when I should get a job… nah not really! #centrelink #livingthegoodlife
Good to see that my taxes are put in good use.
If he posts online can he claim it as one of his searching for employment opportunities.
Your taxes are subsidising massive corporations while people who need welfare support live in poverty. They are not being put to good use
When you start getting migranes at work and when you are not getting an average salary when compared across your peers because you are in a too small boutique firm. It is time to leave for greener pastures.
In all seriousness, if you are thinking of quitting, chances are you probably have something special to do in this world. It's god's work. I went from $60k a year doing accounting to $200k+ doing what I love. No more 100+ hour weeks earning less than minimum wage per hour.
Innovate, don't just take easy jobs that other people can do. You need to be out there creating job opportunities for others.
You have to create your niche, and don't let others figure out what it is. Otherwise you'll have competition, lots of it.
Out of curiosity, what do you do now?
Makes meth
The good life
Going off their username, I'm guessing they are in some sort of digital security industry.
When your heart sinks everytime you walk through the door and they keep telling you they love your ideas, want you to implement them, but give you no support to do them and provide you with the "challenge" of implementing them on your own time because you can't be spared from the duties you are already doing. This is code for "do a lot of overtime" and then we will probably ignore what you have done once the "merry go round" of the new manager comes in. if you have been in a place for a while then package-lotto becomes very attractive, look for the opportunities.
When you have the realisation that the pursuit of bargains is a full time endeavour
When you are a grown man, and cry walking out the door, saying is this my life
Simply when you no longer care about your job.
Username checks out?
When your boss tells you you're shit and they blame all internet traffic on your personal browsing. Even though you get all your work done well and everyone else likes working with you… #truestory
Next job pays 50% more though so better to leave than wait for redundancy :)
When they stop paying wages
Please entertain me with your interesting stories.
For me, it was when the people above me were not listening to my advice which I know was right and they kept doing something else, wasting the budget and getting nowhere.
Lol, that time when the boss didn't want to pay for cupcakes (asked if they could have it for free) but bought a flower wall x2+ the price. I think I've learnt sometime ago that management generally don't really care what you think, unless they're super friendly.
If the people you work with are absolute jerks and you value your workplace comfort over the money
when you work for a US based multinational with a massive cost cutting culture to the detriment of all others, where redundancies are called 'labour based value capture'
Yep. Divestment was the term used at my old employer.
When your manager is trying to call you (from another state) and everyone keeps saying your in the data centre…
so he decides to fly down and see for himself only to catch you pants down at the console batting to some redtube.
no one said anything but he knew it was time to leave lol
for the record it wasnt me, I was the tech accompanying the manager to see if we could 'assist' him due to the backlog building up on his site.
I'm still scar'd by the image we saw, thank god the noise was so loud he didn't hear us open the door, so we left him in peace till he was 'done'.
Well at least he had a happy ending before the sad ending.
when your boss calls you "toots"
When you hate everyone, and plot their deaths on the way to work XD hope they fall off the bell tower
Or when you were hired by old management, and new management called you a "silly girl" in front of everyone (she told me to go follow another manager, and he sent me to do another task, and so she demanded to know which part of "follow" did I not understand) and refuses to give you shifts. It's just her though, not the whole company that's like that.
When you have a mental breakdown.
When you feel physically sick about going to work each day because of a bully manager. It's easier to find a job when you still have some self esteem left. Sometimes standing up for yourself will just get you cut down faster.
When you've accepted a new job offer.
