Which is the sexiest looking fruit?

Is this even a question? The curvy gourd obviously.

  • +3

incoming Boost drinks are unhealthy comments

  • +1

Seriously though, do boost drinks live up to all the hype?

    • +7

      Of being unhealthy? Apparently.

    • +7

In my opinion, they are quite enjoyable (not as good as Top Juice) and live up to the hype, but the normal asking price is beyond expensive and bordering hilarious.

      • +3

Indeed, getting a free one each time my birthday rolls around is one of the only enjoyable things I do that day.

    • +3

For $5 large size they're alright. Not exactly a $1 frozen coke but seems more bang for buck than soft drink at Maccas or bubble tea. If you can get a large fresh juice with this then it's relatively healthy and worth the price compared to normal and other stores. Blueberry Blast is good.

      • +2

You should be using the free frozen coke Snapchat thing! Even better!

    • +8

I used to love the Mango Magic!
But I bought a $15 Target blender last year and have been making my own smoothies for fraction of the cost and taste just as good.
Just throw together whatever fruit/veg I have on hand plus ice cubes, coconut water (or just plain water/yoghurt), frozen banana, honey or medjool date for sweetness.
Also frozen blueberries are great and super handy! (I bought a 5kg bag from Costco).

Haven't had a Boost for a good 6 months now except for the free birthday one.

      • +3

Do you have your own "mango magic" recipe that you can share?

        • +10

          Sure thing!

If you go to Boost's website, they have the ingredients listed so you can trial & error each recipe to your liking.

For my take on the Mango Magic, I use 1 ripe mango, 1 (or 1/2) ripe frozen banana, one carton YoPro vanilla or passionfruit flavour (or plain greek yogurt) & a little water & ice and blend away! Makes 2 serves.
Add protein powder if desired and adjust sweetness by using more or less banana and water.

          Hope this helps

        • @Dadidalol:Thank you! Looks like I'll be going shopping when i get home.

      • +1

I am very interested what your recipe/mix is. Could you please share? Help me get off these over priced addictive boosts.

        • +2

          See above :)

        • +1

          @Dadidalol: Awesome thanks a bunch!

        • +2

          @Smol Cat:

No worries! If I want to have it in the morning, I usually prepare the fruits the night before and add the liquids in the morning. Also I have frozen bananas ready to go in zip lock bags in the freezer

        • +1

@Dadidalol: How do you freeze bananas? Peeled and in a bag? Coz every time I freeze them they turn dead black.

        • +2

          @Smol Cat:
Yes. Wait til they are ripe, then I peel and cut them into halves and freeze.

  • +5

$5 for juice is a bargain?

    • +2

its not even juice, its all sugar

      • +3

Big difference between added sugar and natural sugar, which all fruit has.

        • +1

And what exactly is that difference?

        • +1

@mekktor: one has extra/more sugar than the other.

        • +1

big difference between eating a piece of fruit that has sugar in it and drinking the sugar water that comes out of a piece of fruit when you squeeze it.

    • +1

It is in the city, for something that isn't bottled.

  • +5

    Hey

    Hello savas, thanks for posting.

  • Please consider less calorie dense drinks guys. Like tea or sparkling.

    • +3

      or Diet Coke.

    • +2

Sparkling can be ok, but champagne sure beats it every time.

    • +1

I've been underweight for the past ten years, as I'm sure many other Ozbargainers are. Calorie dense foods are great for us.

  • $5 for 600ml of Berri juice is a bargain?

    • +1

      It is boost not berri?

      • +1

I see them all the time filling up the juice machines with bottles Berri juice. They arent squeezing oranges back there.

        • +1

Don't Berri squeeze it for them

    • +1

Lol Berri juice is nowhere near as good as boost.
Having said that, it's $3 for 500mL for an alright juice (ie cold 100% 'fresh' juice, not some cheap watered down concentrate) so $5 for 600mL isn't that bad considering its boost?

  • +1

    I've never had boost juice.

  • +3

For a name like boost, I certainly don't feel that way after drinking it.

If anything I'm more sleepy after I have it because of the sugar rush

    • +2

      Add coffee

    noticed this is back again.

    thanks for noticing babes

  • Mango Magic is 435 of calories, 78.5g of sugar! You might as well drink coke

    • +3

LOL this is where some people's education and common sense fails them.

It's natural sugar, not added sugar… Google it - fructose ('fruit sugar') is okay to have in large quantities but sucrose ('added sugar') we need to be wary of. Note that you do need some sucrose in your daily diet though.

      • Please….. and you think boost juice is "healthy"? My workmate and a few people I knew used to work for Boost and not one of them said its "healthy" or even good for you.

Go buy into the Boost hype

Boost is just the liquid version of Subway

        • +3

          Subway is good

        • +1

Boost is just the liquid version of Subway

Couldn't have said it better myself. Subway is a healthy fast food chain. Boost is a healthy fast drink chain.
PS I have worked at Boost before and I know that it is relatively healthy and good for you. Say what you want about the company, but the product is good.

        • But but but….at Subway you eat FRESHHHHHH!

    • Sugar is bad. Fruits have sugar. Fruits must be bad.

    Lunch and dinner sorted!

      Stay near a toilet.

  • +1

Any two drink or limited to juice?

    • +2

That's a good point, any two drink. They didn't mention any exclusions on the post.

  • +2

    Thanks for posting OP.

    • +2

      Thanks for your comment.

Thank you for thanking my comment.

    • +1

The Myer food court? I managed to get 2 original juices for $10 during lunch time.

    • Keep trying. Call the manager and say it worked at another store. My local Boost always says “oh, That offer expired” OR “the system just changed yesterday” especially when I’m trying to buy a few of these for my team

and when I call for the manager / say it worked at the other store, they (reluctantly) do the discount. I don’t get it. It’s not like it’s that kid’s business. I’m just a persistent bargainer

  • Mt. Druitt Westfield said no, we don't partake in this deal. Try Blacktown.

    • I hate this. When they advertise something, then when you go to redeem it, they have some lame excuse

  • Just redeemed, thanks Savas!
