1P Parking Fine in Gold Coast

Hi All,

I was in gold coast just on Sunday where I parked my car on Trickett Street at 2:00 o'clock for an hour. The street was 1p Meter. We had our lunch and after my lunch I returned to my car at around 2:52 and paid for another hour for the same parking bay.

When I returned at 3:45 I found the fine on the windscreen for $75 for the Offence "009 - Park Continuously for longer period then indicated on a permissive parking sign"

Can I request a review? Would there be any benefit?

I have got pics of meter saying that parking bay was paid till 3:52?

Any help would be much appreciated?

Thanks

yes. exactly that. Park Continuously for longer period then indicated on a permissive parking sign

You got to move to other street. cant extend. 1 HOUR MAX.

Did you put both tickets on the dash?

    • No I didn't print the tickets because in queensland they check the parking through their systems. Hence wasn't displayed

the rule states "A driver must not park continuously on a length of road, or in an area, to which a permissive parking sign applies for longer than the period indicated by information on or with the sign or, if rule 206 applies to the driver, the period allowed under that rule"

you have no case at all. pay the fine and move on.

        • Cool, Thanks for the help.

What is everyone's take on exactly what that means? For instance, what is "a length of road"? What is "an area"?

If I leave a parking spot, have I ceased to "park continuously"? Or do I have to leave the "length of road" or "the area"? Or is there an amount of time that must pass before I can park on the same length of road or area again?

Is there a particular distance away from my current parking spot that I have to go to be able to park again?

If I drive around the block, and find the same parking space is still vacant, have I met the "must not park continuously" requirement, and therefore I can park in that same spot again, even though I'm back on the same "length of road" or "area"?

If I'm at a 1P meter, and there's a 2P spot a few metres up the same road, can I park there? I've left the 1P zone, so does that mean that I've left the "area".

If I'm parked by the side of the road, and there's also centre of road parking, does moving between these two zones mean I've left the area?

          Questions, questions, questions.

@pjetson: I had a chat to a ranger in Randwick a few years back, he said the very least he accepted was moving about 50m down or parking on the other side. Friends in Melbourne have said their local council rangers take it further and insist on vacating the street. I think as long as you move your car and it’s obvious you left (ie not just rolled down 2 spots immediately) it should be alright.

        • @niggard:

I think in Melb we have section number under the P sign and you have to move to other section if you want to stay longer than the P sign allowed.

Pay fine, it’s not all about paying for another hour.

  • Do you live in QLD?

    If yes, pay it.
    If no, ignore it.

You do realise the consequences of ignoring it, right? From: https://www.sper.qld.gov.au/enforcement-actions/

      What if I don't act?

      Be aware of the consequences!

There are serious consequences if you do not pay your debt on time.

If an unpaid debt is transferred to us, we will issue an enforcement order. If your debt is for an infringement notice fine, we will add a registration fee to the amount owing.

If you receive an enforcement order, but do not act on it by the due date, we may take one or more of the following enforcement actions against you:

      suspend your driver licence
direct your employer or financial institution to deduct funds from your pay or bank account
register an interest over your property
      immobilise your vehicle
      seize and sell your property.

Where applicable, we may charge an enforcement fee for one or more of the above actions.

      • None of which they can do to people from interstate

Check out what the S means in SPER

    • If you click on OP's username, it says Brisbane ie. QLD.

  • Paid the fine :) Seems like that was the only option I had.
