Fixing a Runny in-Wall Toilet

Hi guys.
I swear every toilet in every single house I've ever owned/rented is leaky/runny.

This in-wall toilet in my bedroom has a tendency to run water.. and as such every minute it will fill itself back up. It get's very annoying!
I opened up the cover so that I could see the cistern and noticed a few things:
- Someone has tried to glue the tube for the half flush in the past which explains why it doesn't work.
- The plastic bit that the full flush slides onto snapped.

We've been manually flushing it since (by lifting up the flusher.. however it still runs).
I know at a minimum I need to replace the main assembly that the tubes slide onto, as both of them have snapped off (you can see in the second picture that on the right, there is some yellow glue- that is where someone has tried to glue the tube back on).
But what would cause a runny toilet?
Any idea what brand or where to find this part?

Any advice would be great. Plumbers aren't cheap!

Surely if you are in a rental, you can get the land lord to pay for toilet repairs??

    • I'm sure he owns this house.

At least you have decent access to it. Most in wall cisterns have much smaller access, you're essentially doing blind.

Take the photo to a plumbing store and replace the whole mechanism. Hopefully it will a common brand such as Geberit.

    maybe it's you?

    • Maybe

  • most cistern starts to slowly leak as they age, the rubber washer gets worn and hard. usually can just replace that, but in your case, should replace the whole mechanism…
