Cuz I've got a collection of 4 high end headphones, 3 in ears and 2 DAC Amps, and some people say I'm deceiving myself when I say I'm not an audiophile. But truth is I couldnt care less about khz and mumbo jumbo measurements, I just like good sound.
Have you felt going from price point A to B you haven't notice much of a difference in sound to justify price?
I bought $200 IEM and was previously using $40 ones. The $200 definitely sound clearer and nicer but I can still live with sound quality from cheaper ones which make me wonder.
To me, there is a certain sweet spot for both headphones and IEMs. I find for IEMs, about $100-150 seems to be the best where beyond that, I can't tell a difference.
Do you prefer on ear headphones?
i have 3 over ear ones : Senn HD6XX (clarity), Fostex TH-X00 (bass) and Hifiman HE-4xx (planar).
IEMs I've got iBasso IT01, KZ ZS6 and just bought TFZ King Pro. Hmm, on ears, I used to have Koss Portapro (since sold) as it had 0 isolation which I needed.
What Visa did you get? Skill migrant?
Yeah I was a skilled migrant, but this was like more than 10 years ago, when the skills shortage was far more acute.
Good for you. I've been through the process too and I know its very water tight "almost" and it's a lengthy process.
Did doing army IRL make you good @ FPS games?
nah, its a totally different thing. I get kicks out of going to gun ranges in Australia, as the equipment they have is quite underpowered. We used to handle M16s in the army.
No SAR21? Apparently that is the weapon of choice for Singapore.
I wish i had handled the sar21. When i was in the army they had just started producing it. Too late for me unfortunately.
What other weapons did you get to experience while in the Army?
General Purpose Machine guns, grenades to name a few. I was lowly infantry so there are higher power ones only specialists are allowed to operate.
The army thing is compulsory correct?
Yup it is. In my day it was 2.5 years, but now its cut to 2 years.
What rank in the military?
Were you in the Singapore army or the ADF?
Singapore Army. at the end of my stint I was a corporal.
Are McDonalds nuggets good in Singapore?
OP, please reply to comments via the reply button (instead of posting new comment) in order to make the AMA easier to follow. Thanks.
What's a skill you learnt in the army that you found using the most now as a civilian?
Survival in the rough. We had 5 day field camps in the forest with no modern conveniences. Not saying i am Bear Grylls but at least i know i wont die on the first day!
What about Reservist duties? Do you have to go back?
my cycle is finished.
Was there comeraderie within your company? Did the army instil that into the unit?
its something that happens quite naturally, as you spend days and nights with the same group of guys.
Is there anyway Singaporean males can dodge National Service (other than for medical reasons)? i.e. Rich parents?
How will you be getting back home from the airport next time?
Have you watched Ah Boys to Men ?
Are the plots represent reality on SG NS ?
Which countries could Singapore realistically 'take' or defend itself from? Macau maybe? I think if you control Singapore's water supply, the Australian town of Frankston might be able to take Singapore by force. It could be an SAR of Frankston.
SG recycle waste water pee poo into drinking water
What would be a cheap (<$100) bass oriented wireless head phone you'd recommend for an office environment? I have the in ears and after a while they start to hurt.
Hmm this is a tough one. I've only got less than $100 IEMs, not headphones.
Do you wear glasses? It may hurt a bit if you use over ears.
