27" is a good size for 1440p. No need for desktop scaling.

I've been using this monitor for a few weeks now and it's been fantastic. On games like Destiny 2, I can reach 90-150 frames on max settings (1080ti). Less intense games such as Heroes of the Storm manage to consistently max out at 165hz.

    • Has the increased framerate helped with HotS?

      • +1

Honestly I'd say not really (I've played quite a bit as well) but I'm from a 60hz monitor gamer and I'm never going back. Everything just feels so much more crisp and snappy at 100+ frames which is awesome imo.

  • +3

Excellent monitor. Would highly recommend. Every other sceeen I look at feels like I travelled back in time.

  • being a ozb member cant buy till best price ever

    • +1

You're doing it wrong by not using price protection

  • +4

As an ozbargainer, should I feel bad that I can't afford this?

    • +12

No not at all, we all live within budgets, this is worth it for some and not so for others.

    • Check Gumtree. I got the previous model (XB270HU) for 600 and the guy delivered it to my house. Best monitor I've ever used. I think the difference between mine and this monitor is 165hz instead of 144hz and a different stand.

  • +4

Ugh so tempting. Currently using a 1080ti with the ol' Radiation King Dell U2711; all 60 glorious hertz of it…

Wouldn't mind getting the X34P ultra wide - but even with the code it's still double the price of this one, and knowing that newer panels are due out this year, it makes deciding hard :/

    • +2

I’m in the same situation as you. I’m going to hold out and see what’s out later this year - I have a feeling it’ll be worth the wait.

      • +1

Rumor is that the stuff coming out this year will be expensive as f. Sadly i think you can expect current prices to remain the same and all the new 4K stuff will just be in another very high price bracket. Also 2K is the sweet spot for anyone with a 1080 or 1080ti. No point getting a high Hz 4K monitor right now unless you are running 1080s in SLI because you just wont get the fps.

    • +3

Same as you, got a 1080ti, itching to get an ultrawide. I think i'll end up going with the x34p. The new pg35vq hdr displays most people are holding out for are rumoured to be $2000+ in AU. Although monitors are worth investing in for future proofing more than any other PC part imo.

    • +1

I had a U2711. Great picture, bad input lag. The superficial masochist in me still misses it.

    • +1

      i have a dell u2711 too!

    • On a more serious note, these are supposed to be pretty good.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Crossover-34U100-AntiGlare-DP-HD…

      Only $700 ish for a 34" curved 100Hz.

    • Got the same monitor. Curious why you call it the radiation king?

  • +1

this is so so so so tempting…

  • Yea thank you!

  • +3

    I got this monitor
    Highly recommend

  • Is this worth upgrading over my current U28E590D 28-Inch Samsung 4k monitor?

    • Probably not, you will be downgrading in resolution and screen size. On the up, you'll get IPS and higher refresh rate. Depends on your use.

      • Mainly used for gaming. But I think I will hold off until my monitor is well and truly outdated. Cheers!

        • IMO 60hz is not enough these days, not in multiplayer shooters anyway so depends on what you play (and the fps you get) to weather its an upgrade.

  • +1

Would highly recommend this monitor, i'm currently using the non-IPS 1ms version of the same model. Definitely made my older one feel like a cheap piece of plastic.

  • Can anyone comment on the quality control of this monitor? Backlight bleeding, uniformity, etc. I'm aware Asus' PG279Q has had these problems noticeably more frequently, just wondering if it's a lottery with this Acer panel.

    • +1

I haven't noticed any bleed on mine, if there is, it's not that noticeable.
I'm very happy with mine. I've had it for a year and a half now and have only good things to say.
Once you step up from 1080p on a 27" screen, you will find it hard to go back.

    • +5

Including myself, I know at least 3 other friends who owns this screen over the last couple of months. We all had no backlight bleeding or any QC problems. But on that note I'd still purchase locally or at least from an Australian seller.

      • I think I'll do that - only about $40 more to go and pickup (and return, if need be) from a store I can drive to.

  • What is their warranty return policy like though?

These savings are great but not if im going to have to piss it all away paying shipping back to them in sydney.

    • doesn't paypal cover the return shipping?

      • Only up to $45, 8 returns a year.

This means i'd be out of pocket to begin with, and shipping a monitor interstate will probably cost more than $45.

    Guys, I say this on every post for this monitor;

Get this monitor. I have had it going on 2 years now and every game I play looks absolutely fu**ing amazing. I also paid $1077 delivered. I'd buy another one for this price if I had money to spare.

But this time around, I need to say; I have a dead pixel on the bottom left. Upsetting but doesn't get in the way of anything.

  • Well I'm doing it. Took the plunge. I'm still using an old ass Samsung P2350.

    • Let me know how you go and if the upgrade is visually worth it.

I bought 3 P2350s back in the day for flight sim but had dead pixel issues on arrival on all of them and on multiple returns. Samsung offered to upgrade me to the P2370HD, which I have been using since, which also have a TV tuner built in. I didn't NEED 3 TVs in my study but I wasn't going to say no, and I've had no dead pixels on these after years of use. However they are REALLY starting to show their age in terms of being able to run modern cards through them - the software assumes the screens can do sync rates they drop out on, so I have to keep overriding it. Wasn't a problem with my previous TVs but Win 10 and 1080 is a different story - have to use DVI input as the HDMI just craps out.

Why pay $1,000 for a 2K monitor when you know 4K is already out?
Yes you wont be able to play PC Games on 4K, but isn't it better to downgrade the resolution and wait a few years, than buy something maxxed at 2K?

    • Show me the available high refresh 4k monitors in this price bracket.

    • There's more to monitors besides resolution in the same way there's more to camera quality than megapixels.

2560x1440 is not 2K by the way. 2K is much closer to 1080p than 1440p.

    • 4K isn't really out for gaming, the 4K HDR version of the Predator is nowhere to be seen. Plus everyone is waiting for the new generation Nvidias to drop.

So at this point you may as well get this beaut, enjoy it and buy 4K gear next year or the year after.

  • I need a new monitor as my Kogan 27" 1440p died. I paid like $370 for that. Currently I'm using a LCD tv from like 2010 or older as my computer monitor. I want 27" (or bigger) and 1440p but I don't need 144hz or G-Sync which, as well as the build quality and brand, probably adds up to the the $799 price tag. Presumably there are better suited monitors for my needs that are cheaper. I game but not very much and I don't go above 60fps.

  • Wouldn't movies look better on this if you were watching 1080P?

    • +1

      no

  • Any deals on the ASUS Monitor, PQ range?

Particularly the IPs 120hz 27" with Gsync models

  • Love the specs (and price!), really don't like the "gamer" aesthetics.

  • Bought this monitor over a year ago. If your rig can pump out 100fps+ and supports GSYNC, you won't have any regrets :)

  • +2

I was very tempted to pull the trigger on this, but decided to go with another:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AOC-Agon-AG352UCG-35-Ultra-Wide-Q…

    $1055 after coupon.

For $250 more, you get a 35" Ultra-Wide, which is still 1440p and has G-Sync.

Cons are that it's "only" 100Hz, and it's a MVA panel - not IPS.
But both IPS are VA panels have their own strengths and weaknesses, so it's really up to personal preference.

  • Bought the same one from Futu. Paid on 22/1, arrived on 9/2

    • I bought 6/2 and got attempted delivery 9/2 (in Melbourne)

  • Couldn't sleep trying to decide if I want this, I'm sure it's time for an upgrade from my current BenQ 2420 I been rocking since 2010, and the reviews seem fairly positive only thing I think is missing is HDR

    • Did you pull the trigger? I also have the 2420 but looking to upgrade

      • I was going to but the price went up over that night so i didn't,
next time it's on sale at that price i will, this monitor has served it's time, now to upgrade

        • Ah damn! Yep I am thinking the same, hopefully a good deal with the upcoming Ebay 20% off sale

        • @Heracles26:
Nice! enjoy should be a good upgrade

Do you know how they would handle issues like dead pixels or really bad BLB?

        • @Godric:

Should be night and day difference!

No idea to be honest. I think they are pretty well reviewed though.

        • @Heracles26:
