    http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/WD-Green-240GB-2016-vs-…
Wow not much price difference between the two but it's so much better. Very very very tempting.

    • yeah :-)

WD Green == ecofriendly and slow.

Don't go green with computer parts unless you like a turtle's pace to win the race.

      • It depends on what you are using the computer for - plus the a type of green, an 80plus PSU isn't going to change the speed of any PC ;)

For most people though a green HDD is more than fast enough.

      • eco wut ? its a ssd..

        • +4

WD Green are their eco-range. In the case of SSDs it's entry level and not quite as good as WD Blue or other brands. Not that you'd notice a real difference in speed for general use.

        • +1

WD Green is just a rebadged Sandisk SSD Plus. Performance difference between that and the 850evo is actually quite substantial, whether the differences are perceptible is another issue.

        • @systema:

I would not be buying shares in Seagate or WD. They are becoming dinosaurs.

        • @ColonialBoy: Who would you say are becoming the next big storage brands?

        • @Clear: Samsung is (sorry late post), but Seagate and WD are definitely going to be here for 5 or 10 more years.

        • @StoneSin: We shall see. Will be interesting to see if they dominate the Enterprise market like WD and SG have. I've yet to see Samsung SAS drives hit mainstream ;)

Gets Member Monthly Award, has 136 posts, still on Green P's. Mods, would be great if they get a full license?

    • :-)

    • It's automated, the amount of time is set for all members (6 weeks). Similar to a car licence where you can't get your P's or full licence earlier just because you have driven much more than the average driver :)

See here for more information, the good news is that the 6 weeks is up on Tuesday 13/2.

      • Thanks for the info Hamza. Not long to go

    $0.356 per gig!

    So tempting…

Good to put into your PS4 Pro if you like a quicker load times if you don't download many games!
    video how to do it

    • I did, it is awesome. If you play the PlayStation 4 Pro a bit, slap one in and save some time and patience.

500GB SSDs should have come down to ~150$ by now.

    • Nand prices are rather high at the moment though unfortunately, courtesy of the production facilities

      • +1

Wow…. i bought this 500GB 850 EVO off ebay for like 150 AUD when those $100 cashback via woolworths was still around like 2-3 years ago. The prices havent dropped much ay =(

MSY, Arc computers, All needs computers selling Samsung 850 EVO SSD 500GB for $203.00 and that's their normal everyday price. Saving $10.00 not worth it to me.

    • +4

Saving $10.00 plus delivery is pretty worth the deal.

      • +2

yeah.. you said my words :)

    • +3

I'd have to drive for two hours to get to the closest msy or any PC store for that matter…so a saving of more than $10 for me when you factor in a 400km round trip.

  • Have a spare HP 250 G4 notebook with the crappy N3050 but the question is…do I even bother?

  • +2

860 evo have 150TW warranty, I'm getting the new revision.

  • +7

^^Agreed keep in mind that the new model the 860 evo has just launched in Feb 2018 replacing the 850 evo which was released in 2014. 850 evo should drop much more as they will be discontinued.

    • wow thanks for the heads up
do price drops like these affect the HDs down the line? (ie. 120gb models)

  • omg, just bought 250G from MSY for $118….

    • +3

Yeah was just about to say sounds like good deal then went to check msy. Guess no rush for me.

      • lol with this 20% off, it saves $5…

  • I bought 1 tb for $329 last eBay Mega Deal.

  • This vs. Intel 6000p 1TB (similar price point)… I went the latter since it was NVMe but only marginally faster than SATA.

  • This sdd need to be cheaper since there is already a new product replacing this. Samsung 860 EVO which launched last month.

  • Wow $160 for 500gb, with woolies discount vouchers of course

    • Do you mind sharing how does it work? I bought it yesterday , would I be able somehow use it? Thanks:)

      • Add the code in the coupon section

        • I added " present20" but you mentioned wollies vouchers. What kind of vouchers did you mean exactly? Sorry I am not familiar how this all works, never used wollies discount vouchers.

  • just placed an order for 500G

  • Great deal, worthy of the upvotes

However SSDs are due to fall now that crypto has fallen.

No seriously, Samsung may start driving the SSD market down to capitalise better (gain marketshare) on its superior silicon, it really needs to up revenue to stave off the impact of slowing phone, tablet & RAM sales.

    • +2

What crypto got to do with SSD price? I thought it only inflated GPU prices.

      • Perhaps check your /etc/sarcasm_filter.conf for the line Enable=1

  • Only 1TB left. Bugger. Oh well size matters

    • just checked .. 500GB and 250 GB are back again in stock .. :)

      • +1

Umm yep. Got a 1tb and grabbed a 500 too. A deals a deal and I can upgrade mine and the minister of war and finance laptops.

  • Will this fit with Samsung np670z5e?

  • This is a good deal.

On Amazon US the price is US$299.99 for a Samsung 860 EVO 1 Tb (i.e. A$383) plus shipping
