Propel Star Wars Battle Drone (X-Wing/X1/Speeder Bike) $96 (Was $299) @ JB Hi-Fi (in Store or + $9.95 Shipping)

80

Looks like JB is clearing them out. Probably not worth the original RRP but for $96 it might be worth a play (or for fan's collection).

        all good got it

Just used the code ANNIVERSARY15 and click collect or shipster for free shipping. Comes to $84.95. Could potentially find something cheap to make it over $100 and use code ANNIVERSARY20.

Was trying to purchase 2 of them but the code then splits the discount over both items and brings it to 89.95 each which kinda sucks and thats using anniversary20 on the 2 items. kinda stupid really

        • Thanks OP and post above. Grabbed one from Myer this morning click'n'collect. Good price.

        • Shipping isn't free it's covered by Shipster which is a paid service…

Looks like it could be some good fun if you talk 3 or mates into buying one and having battles.

    • Are these actually designed to crash into each other?

  • Are these any good? I've never bought a drone before and have zero idea about them and what the difference between these and other types of drones :( But my kids would enjoy having a go at an x-wing :D

Hi all , I bought one of each over Christmas for myself and the kids. These would be great for a 10 year old or older as a suggestion. The blades will cut skin if you aren’t careful.

The pick of the bunch for manouverability and speed and is the Speeder Bike. The downside to this is that it breaks easily, however there are many replacement parts provided especially propellers. I replaced the speeder drone once at JB after one of the brushless motors stopped working after a days use. This is a common fault.

The X- Wing is a good compromise because of its durability. My youngest flew this one and it has taken plenty of hits and still going strong. Not as quick or manouverable as the Speeder but still very cool.

The Tie Fighter is the least flyable of the three. Flys great in straight lines but the moment you turn it under speed, the tie fighter’s wing seems to stall and it drops to the ground.

For $100 a pop these are good value. Well packaged with lots of spare parts. Some awesome surprises when you first set up the controller if you are a Star Wars fan. Easy to fly with an inbuilt barometer so it holds altitude reasonable well. 3 speed modes also selectable.

Poor customer service from propel. You can’t buy spare parts in Australia when I last tried in January. Overall keep in mind that the brushless motors have a reputation of burning out.

This guy reviews all 3 drones and are a little lengthy but are worth watching especially regarding the tie fighter Keep in mind he’s being paid to review the drones https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p9abUdLukr4

    • Sorry bro, I think you'll find that the motors are brushed. That's what makes them so unreliable. They were supposed to be releasing the Millennium Falcon with brushless motors but I don't think it's out yet.

    • Sorry thats Brushed motors…. rubber was correct..

  • Cheers for sharing your experience, will think of it and decide this arvo :)
