Ordered, now just waiting for cancelation when they can't source any stock (I'll +ve if/when it actually arrives)

    • -5

I've heard staff are given 30min max to find your order and fill it otherwise it gets cancelled and you receive a refund (sometime including shipping, sometimes without) in the form of a gift card which you can only spend instore. Stay right away from EB and their con tricks.

      • +6

I believe that refunding to instore credit is illegal without consent. It must be returned in the same format it was given in unless agreed by the customer.

        • -1

Yep it sure is. Doesn't mean EB don't try it on fir size every single time in the hope they'll get away with it.

        • It's 1 hour

        • @yellowrhino93: Sorry, one hour. That makes so much difference.

        • @Aussie World Warrior: going to assume you've never worked at EB. It's a massive difference

        • -1

@yellowrhino93: No I've never worked there but that's irrelevant. Even allocating one hour to find and fill an order is ridiculous. Shouldn't it be until the item is found? So that, you know, you can actually help your customer by filling the order and make a sale?

        • @Aussie World Warrior: it's to make sure the customer gets their order fast, i don't make the rules but you can usually locate items pretty quick if its nothing to obscure e.g. a game. usually if it can't be fulfilled it's because of a stock error

        • -1

@yellowrhino93: That all sounds great until you order a new game, you pay for a new game and they send you….a used game. Or at least a "new" game missing things like…a front cover, or…the DLC code. How are these clowns even allowed to operate as a proper retail store? Our standards, they are a dropping.

      • +3

That's total nonsense, they just refund directly back to your card or PayPal, exactly the amount you paid including any shipping cost.

        • -1

It's not, plenty of examples of EB doing exactly what I said to support my claims too.

        • +2

I woudln't be suprised if it is accurate. I had to open a PayPal dispute last time I gave EB games a chance since they didn't refund the shipping costs after canceling my order. I reckon they were either incompitent (likely) or were simply trying to keep the postage fee (also likley).

        • @CyberGenesys: Yep, sneaky (profanity). People think they're awesome when the reality is, they suck balls.

        • -2
        • @Aussie World Warrior: They said the original payment method was on their system as being a gift card, which is why they were being refunded with a gift card.

They reached out so that they could have it refunded to their debit card, since it was a system error.

EB also said that the money goes back to the original payment method.

You provided proof against your claim, not for it.

        • -1

@BradleyDS2: Did you read the whole thing? Obviously not. If you did you would of seen this: I 100% paid by Debit Visa however. This is, last time I looked, not a gift card.

        • @Aussie World Warrior: Yes, I read the whole thing, including "Hey Jordan, refunds definitely go back to your original payment method - sorry for the inconvenience! Please shoot me a DM with your order details so we can help out during office hours"

        • -1

@BradleyDS2: Of course EB say that in a public forum, they've been caught out and are trying to save face. There's heaps of examples of EB doing this, they will do anything to keep your money in their stores. So desperate and hard up for even more profit, lol.

        • @Aussie World Warrior: If the issue wasn't resolved then there should have been another tweet to them saying so, but that wasn't the case, meaning either the problem was resolved or they couldn't even be bothered spending another minute to resolve the issue.

I have never had any issues getting my money back from EB Games, in fact, I thought they were well known for that.

I've cancelled preorder in the past and gotten the money back in whatever method I paid, the only reason they can't refund to a different payment method when you paid with credit card or gift card is to prevent fraud, although I have had them refund a credit card payment as cash, but they shouldn't have.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like EB Games, they're constantly doing sales to the extent that there's never any real sales, they're run by Gamestop and have put many Australian game stores out of business, they resell games as new that aren't new and they treat their workers like shit, but they stock more than any other game stores I've come across (except for a few exceptions, such as vita games), they price match and I've found them to be very good with refunds, and I'm comfortable preordering from them since I can pricematch on release day for the best price, don't have to worry about stock and if I decide that I don't want the game I can get my deposit back in full even a year after the game is released if I don't pick it up.

Negging me doesn't silence the truth.

    • +2

yep just got my first cancellation, refund going back to paypal

    • Yep, there it is, cancelation email. And just like last time they didn't refund postage >:(

      • i got postage back.

  • +3

What's with the $4 IW Legacy Pro edition? Surely a price error

    • Yeah my best guess it was meant to be $47. No where near $4 lol

      • +3

        That's about what it's worth.

        • It felt like a B-grade FPS game. It was really uncreative and didn't add anything substantially new to the franchise.
          Wouldn't pay more than $5

        • +4

@Blitzfx: I loved it. I'm not a regular COD gamer but I picked it up a few weeks ago for $30 and have no idea why it gets so much hate.

I've played all the latest FPSs and I enjoyed Infinite War more than any other.

I can't really see how going back to WW2 adds anything new either, but as a non-regular COD person maybe I'm not seeing what everyone else is seeing. The last one I played was Black Ops which I thought was very average.

        • +1

@Sxio: Campaign is great. MP not.

        • +1

@Sxio: Yeah I bought it 2nd hand for $10. I've not played the campaign, which is a little odd as I normally love the CoD campaigns, but i've played multiplayer 2 or 3 times and loved it. It's very similar to Titanfall 2, but with a heavier feel. I normally skip CoD multiplayer because I get my ass handed to me, but I enjoyed playing and actually did pretty well. I'll be keeping the game.

Also Mafia 3 is well worth playing despite the hate. The criticism is fully justified, it is repetitive, the stealth gameplay is overly simplistic, and it's very buggy. But underneath those criticisms is a really good game. OK, not as good as GTA V, but the driving is the best i've experienced in an open world game, by far. The shooting is very satisfying, and the repetitiveness is in some ways enjoyable, for me. Simplicity has it's benefits.

        • +1

@Sxio: Yeah I thought it was pretty good, and for $4 it's a no brainer.

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks: Campaign was insanely great. I'm mainly a SP person so haven't really checked out MP. Especially FPS on console. Eeeeshk! That would be tough.

    • +3

Not a price error. Just clearing off the limited stock of it remaining

      • +1

Why not clearing out ps4 version?

        • Probably because there is more stock of it around still

    • +2

We do not have Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - Legacy Pro Edition in stock, please select a store to PickUp from or remove the item from your cart.

    • got that message too

  • Is it worth paying $8 shipping to get Watch Dogs and Far Cry? I already have a heap of unplayed games in my steam.

    • +1

Both open world games are pretty good. Worth it imo

    • +1

Watch Dogs was free recently, but I think Far Cry 4 (Complete Edition) will not be $4 in a long time.
Even the FC4 basic edition hasn't gone lower than $15, and that one doesn't even include the really fun DLC Valley of the Yetis.

      • +5

Watch Dogs 1 was free not number 2

        • +1

Oops, you're right. I'm new to this bargain addiction…

    • Resist!

      or get "3 for $18" ??????

    • You laugh, but I only just played this for the first time (Ultimate edition on PC) and it was pretty fun. If there's anyone else who hasn't played it, $4 isn't too bad.

  • +2

    Mmm vita games!!

    • sadly not that many

      • If any?

        • I grabbed Yomawari because it was a good price. The others in stock are pretty rip off prices still, and the remainder are all "In store only" in WA or some place I'm 4000kms from

  • -3

There's like no stock of the 4 dollar stuff plus everyone above is saying they're just cancelling the online orders and telling you to go find it in store.

    • Don't think anyone is being told yet no stock. Still early ;)

    • Not a single person has said they had their order cancelled at this time.

      • +1

        People are reporting it now.

  • My order of COD and Watch Dogs 2 just got rejected, now only showing as in-store.

    • Both of those were In Store only from the start I believe.

      • I ordered online for delviery

  • +1

Quite a few other $4 items there too, placed an order.

Expecting a stream of "Sorry we cannot find your items" emails in my inbox today ;)

  • +2

The stock system is stuffed, one minute it says its in stock at a certain store then you go to checkout and its not, then you go out and check it again and it says in stock, EB playing funny buggers.

    • EB are notorious for this now, looks like they're just never going to fix it after all…

    • +1

Sc2 is now free to play

      • +2

Not if you want the whole campaign plus a whole heap of other features.

      • Free to play doesn't include the Heart of the Swarm campaign.

    • Does not include legacy of void?
