Leisure Suit Larry 1 Recommended: Memory: 1 GB RAM

Surely that is a misprint, and the mean 1 megabyte?

    • It is probably right for the remake but not for the original.

      • Did they ever remake 2 & 3?

  • +3

Bring back great memories of how you use network of friends and a telephone to help solve the puzzles before things like google or gamefaqs.

    • Didnt have time to put on contact lenses today and that read like gamefaps at 1st glance

    • +4

I'm trying to launch the game but when I answer that O.J. is under indictment it won't let me in. Any ideas?

      • +3

        haa haa….more great memories.

We were playing the game as 13 year olds and we kept asking my friend's dad all these questions, he was like WTF.

    • +14

I remember ordering the Sierra hint books! You had to read them with red cellophane to reveal the clues!
Ahhh the good old days of PC gaming.
Loved this game, but 1/2/3 were the best.
All of the Sierra games were fantastic in their heyday. Police Quest / Heroes Quest / Kings Quest, etc. :)
These games definitely tested your patience, especially when it came to the text based interface!

      • +1

        Quest for glory my favourite

    • I asked my grandad, while he was babysitting us.

Took a long while to wonder why i was asking detailed 'old person' questions, for 'oh, no reason'.

  • I just finished the android game. Magna Cum Laude was my favourite by far!

  • What!!! NO Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust.

  • If only it worked on a Mac without using boot camp or virtual console etc

    • In the same boat :(

    • +1

Boxer should run most of these.

    • +2

If only Apple allowed their OS to legally be run in a VM on non Apple machines…That way I could stop having to bootcamp altogether.

    • +1

I bought them to add to my growing Steam library of "Games I would like to possibly play one day if I ever get a PC".

      • And didn't +vote.

        Such crime!

        • I'll +vote when I get to play them

    Ken sent me.

    • Dirty bastard! Turn the TV on so you can sneak upstairs.

        Clean up before you leave.

  • What a game… who doesn't enjoy clicking around with the sole purpose of getting laid.

  • 4 was the best

any one ever see the sierra online "online" cant remember the exact name

Dat nostalgia. I remember LSL1 was one of the first games I played as a kid.

    • the little thrusting censored sign when you got with the prozzie after answering the questions on the door to get in.

    • +1

Passing that quiz every time… I had a list of the questions after a while.

I learned that a prophylactic is also a condom due to Leisure Suit Larry 1.

I'm not quite an old fart just yet, but as soon as these kinds of games went from 2D to 3D, they lost all charm for me. Imagine a game like The Curse of Monkey Island, but with high res artwork!

    • +3

The remake of monkey island could flick between old and new graphics from memory… guybrush threepwood and le chuck .. jeez I got stuck on some of those puzzles for ages no forums to help you in those days… just hoped they covered it in a magazine issue.

      • I liked the remakes of the first 2 Monkey Island games, but the re-done art still feels a bit too digital. I think the hand drawn look of Curse was the best.

    • how to burn the lock on the prison door with the poison or whatever it was. Took me 4 months as a kid!!!!! then i realized you could use more than 1 cup …….

You fight like a dairy farmer!

  • +1

So you buy from this site to get a steam code for these games?

    • Yeh as soon as you pay you'll get an email where you can redeem the steam keys then add them to your steam library.

      • Yeah you get one for each game to twelve keys within the account, for some reason the login details and the email on the account were different for me so I was showing nothing.. I had to claim the account of the other email address to get my keys.

    • Yeah, this process is so friggen confusing. The instructions are among the poorest I've come across.

  • +2

Was going to say what happened to leisure suit Larry 4 was it another developer not part of the package … I feel incomplete without the full set. Then read the story and realised it's unfinished and ironically called the missing floppies.

  • Where's 4?

  • If there's one game I miss, it's Leisure Suit Larry's Casino. Probably still have the disk around here somewhere. Good luck getting it running these days. :(

    • Dosbox FTW!

  • +2

I want the space quest series, they were the best!

    • +2

And the Police Quest series as well.

  • +5

Loved Leisure suit larry, police quest, kings quest and Monkey island.

Ahh the delicious torment you got from trying to figure these out. Too much instant gratification in the world now!

  • LSL1 is/was amazing. Wish they would remake the rest.

  • +4

I played the first LSL on the Amiga 500…. good times :D. I kept doing the questions by myself, finally got in and had no clue what I was doing or where to go. It was a fair while before I learned to type in commands like open door. And even longer after discovering that our game disc was corrupt and wouldn't load past the casino hotel encounter.

I already have the LSL collection from when they were originally released on GOG. I do have 2 physical versions of the LSL collection, one in a rectangular box from '97 (also had the Police Quest collection from that time…. even had PQ SWAT… but it was the demo version boo lol). And another from '99 - '2000. I love the smell-o-vision card haha.

I got the LSL remake when it first came out on Steam. I may yet pursue this deal, just to be able to say I have all LSL games on Steam too hehe.

  • I won't be taking advantage of the deal, that website doesn't like my credit card :(

    • +5

      Let me try.
      What are your details?

      • Comedian in the house!! Lol
Crisis averted, hadn't used Paypal in years… found my details and still had money in the account. Worked instantly. Downloaded the games swiftly and will gradually play through them soon.

  • Wow this is great. Nostalgia is a disease they say…

If you try to buy as a gift…odd policy.

Thanks op. Got $5.04 worth of fun out of the first game alone.

  • +2

Is $4.99 US now but still worth every cent!

  • Great deal thanks…. just realised the sold over 6000 copies, thats about 30k so far.. not bad for these oldies ……

  • I bought the 1-6 box set a few years back. No longer have a device capable of reading the medium it came on.

    • can always sell physical media to collectors and get digital copy

  • +2

I learned how to type from these. Mostly just “look boobs” though…

  • WoW, memory flashes from 25+ years ago.
I remember being addicted to this back in the 80's, on what from memory must have been an IBM with 512KB RAM, CRT monitor of-course.
We've come along way fast since then…

Wasn't aware they'd updated it, this is what it used to be like - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wyvi1pdDPUc

  • Thanks Op, couldn't resist reliving it with better quality graphics, was planning/hoping to get some work done around the house this weekend, maybe take the boat out, have a feeling it might not happen now lol

    • I apologise humbly. ;-))

And hope you have lots of fun.
