If you don't care about shipping times, everything is cheaper here https://www.ozgameshop.com/

    • Anyone know if the retailers will match this site?

      • +1

Basically zero chance as it's a UK site

        • Oh right haha.. For some reason i was thinking it was Australian

    • +1

When I've used them in the past the shipping speed was pretty reasonable.

      • Reasonable for coming from the UK sure but it's still a 2 week wait generally. Buying from an AU store, you'd expect it within 1 week.

  • Now just need these prices + 20% off at ebay

  • +3

    Lol those prices.

    What's the deal?

Best Sellers ≠ Mass Effect Andromeda

EB have been offering weak deals since November…..1997!

    • +7

EB have been ripping off people since November…..1997!

      Fixed!

EB games are shamefully expensive these days

      • +2

These days? Their bread and butter is selling things at RRP because the mums and dads who have no idea about these things will buy from them for their kids, as well as teenagers who trade in their games for ridiculously low amounts.

It is what it is. They have a place in the world, even if it's not something us gamers will buy from regularly (on the odd occasion they do do good deals)

        • I actually buy from EB Games more often than anywhere else. Admittedly, I usually just price-match everything. I love the pre-owned sales for last-gen games though.
I mainly just appreciate their returns policy and the customer service in terms of warranty at my local stores are great.

Nice, most of these games have been on sale for 50 odd or under for a good long while now, but I was holding out to pay more at EB.

I think i got ME:A for $28 from big W, I got Shadow of Mordor when it 1st came out from Ozgameshop for $63

      • +2

        With the RC Nomad?

      • I'd guess not the Gold Edition either. Atleast compare like for like.

        • That's fair still think $77 for a game that's 12 months old regardless is very expensive

I guess im just old fashioned and i buy games for the actual game and feel a game cost should be price competitive and not charge ridiculous mark ups on unwanted stock.

        • @Pastry:
4.5 months, with season pass (worth around $50). That's not expensive.

        • -2

@scuderiarmani: I dont know what you are on about but if you like paying too much for games at EB go for it

        • +1

          @Pastry: probably sgadow of war.

Also I paid $77 for my RC andromeda buggy. The game was just a side bonus.

        • @Pastry:
If you want to compare 2 different products good for you.

          Admit you are wrong.

      Hero post. Thanks.

On what planet are these actually deals?

  • -1

Ill say this about Eb if they in-cooperated online retailers with there price match policy EB games might actually be worth your time (ie save you from paying/waiting for shipping)

It would stop me from buying games from places like Ozgameshop because i wouldnt have to wait 7-10 business days

    • +4

ozgameshop don't sell australian stock though. they are hardly comparable

      • What benefits do Australian stock have for games? I can understand the reasoning behind most things is the warranty/returns but that doesn't seem like an issue for games.

        • +2

its mainly in labelling (ratings) which can affect the trade in value of games

        • The issue is that they can't compete with UK prices. EB buy their games from the AU distributor not the UK distributor. While they have a significant buying power, there is only so far down the distributor is willing to drop prices, and from my limited understanding of the market, this can often be higher than what UK stores often sell their games for (at least it was when the AUD was high - may not be the case now).

For a while, JB Hifi did actually import games from the UK, relabel them with AU classifications and tell them instore. This probably stopped when the AUD dropped though.

HN also had a grey import online store selling out of Ireland but I forgot it existed (or even what it was called and have no idea if it still exists).

        • @SirFlibbled: EB sometimes get their games from UK, such as collector edition. I recently got their Tekken & Dragon Ball Z CE, they all have EU rating which i usually see on the games from Ozgameshop.

        • +2

@kendo: The packaging probably has the AU classifications too (because it's an offence not to).

While I'm not privy to EB's buying, often games are printed for the entire region. I have many games which have AU, UK and European classifications on them because we're all treated as the same region, so they just print X amount for all countries in the region.

As such, they might not have gotten the games from the UK - more likely the games were all made in the same run and sent to different distributors for each country.

Yes this means we're getting stooged.

  • EB Games should stop calling their markups "sales"

  • +2

Certainly a very different response from people compared to the mid Jan deal:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/355418

Rep/OP, only post proper bargains. Most EB games sales are generally not bargains.

  • Good price for Naruto CE. You actually pay $77 for the exclusive figure. I still remembered the CE sold out before released day. Very surprised it is back in stock.

    • +1

Only if you could find one in store. Remember it’s EB. They do advertise like $20ish for a collector edition here and there, but not one could find them in store. There might be a copy in a store on a no man’s land. I could be wrong this time tho as it sells for $77

      • This one is Online order only. No option for store pick-up. Must be old stocks from warehouse. You will definitely get it this time ;)

  • damn missed the RC andromeda

  • those games are expensive…

  • Still got my…..long list of digital games bought during black friday/christmas to complete.
Might only finish them by end of Christmas 2018 just in time for another sale

O_O second thought I hardly finish playing any games nowadays more like a collection to have a longer list lol.
