Hi Everyone!
I want to buy a sewing machine and I'm not sure which one is best.
I'm new at sewing, never used a sewing machine but want a machine that can sew that sort of hard cotton, leather, denim and normal fabric.
I wouldn't use the machine everyday, but mostly on the weekends.
I'd like to do some sewing craft work, dolls, cushions, tops, etc.
Also, I want the machine to be able to write letters in order to make nametags or write the name on the items I make.
I've been to Spotlight and they recommend Brother FS101, I also went to the local sewing shop and they recommend Brother NS55.
Both are priced $699 and seem to have almost the same capabilities.
I'd like a cheaper one, but it seems these are the cheaper than can do the lettering. I've searched second hand but haven't found with the lettering and/or is so expensive (only around 200 cheaper) but without warranty.
Do you have experience with any of this? Which one would be easy to pick up? Does the computerized part makes it easier?
If you have a better option for the same or less price please let me know.
I'd appreciate your input. Thanks!
Spotlight frequently have sales with hundreds of dollars off sewing machines - please don't pay $699 for either of those machines.
