Too much for a TV that will be half the price in 1 year.

Interesting…are you going to upgrade your tv every year?

      • $2K is enough to waste on a TV that will be worthless and out of date in a year.

        • +1

worthless or not, I’m not going to resell it. It won’t be out of date, a 1080p tv is not out of date atm. I want the best I can afford at the time because regardless of what features that will coming out, I won’t be getting it until the current one breaks down.

          Each to their own..

I got this when it was around $3900 last month.

Great tv and pic quality for the price, only gripe is cpu or whatever could be faster, but I’m just nitpicking, built in kodi is the star for me. Connects to my nas network, plays everything, no transcoding server required, 4k files no problems, I love it !

    • $3,900? Can you link to that deal? I didn't find it during my review.

    • I’m very new to NAS, but I think you need to leave the computer on 24/7 right?
Also, is Kodi just a nice interface which helps you sort and play pirated movie from torrenting?

      • Well being a tight arse I only turn on my nas when I need it. Build your own and install freenas :)

As for kodi, I only use it as a media player, one of the best I’ve seen on any platform, no idea how to do the torrenting or whatever

Op if you’re keen on this tv try going to Harvey Norman or good guys and haggling for a better price… I’ve found jb crap when it comes to haggling

    • Was in HN last week, no luck.

    • Was in HN last week, no luck. Saying that Sony sets the price.

      • bummer.. sounds like a little BS though…dunno how it works on that side of things but sales person at the time told me something that conflicts that. Said they were make very little off my purchase but did it to move units cause it was the end of some cycle..

dunno, maybe it was a stock take / boxing day thing. Dunno. I missed a similar deal the previous boxing day sales for a tv i wanted so i pounced on the $3900 deal when it popped up.

is there any point in getting a 4K tv at this current time

    • +1

I'd love to here why not? Not the correct time of the year?

    • Why not? They can be had for far far cheaper than this model and aren't particularly expensive. Something like OLED adds more to the cost than them being 4K.

As it stands many streaming services support 4K, Xbox and PS do and the Xbox is a nice inexpensive 4K Bluray player also.

  • Sony also have it for this price at the moment if you are a subscriber to Playstation Plus. I received an email about it with a voucher code attached. Still not as good as the recent Sony/EB promotion where they had it for $3999 if you had bought a PS4 Pro.

I'm still waiting for a better price. Hopefully in a couple of months when the new models start hitting shelves.

not a good deal and the price of these will drop like a rock on the second half of 2018 as the new LCD upto 120" are coming in the new fabs from china. TCL will have them even bigger and they have QLED now.

BTW: research OLED and you will find out why SAMSUNG are avoiding them on TVs. With color bleed and ghosting a serious problem on OLEDs. Yes they look good and yes most wont care but LG are not offering any warranty on the OLED problems, so thats serious $ done!

So 2018/19 will be >120" screen like our 65" are now and 8K. Expect 120-140" QLED 8k being about 10K before dropping after screwing early adoptors and they will price drop fast as LCD are very cheap to make!

    • Thanks for the info. I have 45 days left to return the 75" Aldi Bauhn ;-)

Its a pretty crap TV, Id get my money back! If your looking for best offer bang for buck look at the TCL X2 65" QLED for $2k or just get some more life from your current TV. Its a under half the cost of a samsung QLED and its an awesome pic!

    • +2

Not a chance in hell QLED 8k at 140 inch will be 10k. Let alone this year.

Their 4k models are around 10k lol.

TCL have just gotten their new china pannel fab online for late 2018 QLED 140" pannels so I stand by my predicition

        • Hmm TCL or any other brand, I know what I'm picking.

No chance your prices are happening.

    • That’s a big call, 75inch oleds are like $15-20k atm…

      • -2

QLED, an evolution of LED with pixcel dimming and brightening. TCL fab their own panels (yes in china)

As I said AVOID OLED (LG fabbed pannels) as they problems outway the great in store pic!

    • TCL is for landfill. Wouldn't even give it to my mother in law

  • Waiting for 65 to 2300 as last deal.

  • I bought 65x9400 which I upgraded to 65A1 when the panel failed. The picture quality of the A1 blows the 9400 out the water. I would sooner have the A1 and 10 inches less than the 75x9000. Go compare in the shop to decide for yourself.

    • +1

65 inches is 9300… 9400 comes in 75 inches only

    • i just got the 65x9300 for 2700 delivered … what died with your panel and how old was it approx ?

      • Where?

        • i meant recently , approx a month back

      • My mistake must have been the 9300 model. The upper half of the panel suddenly changed colour to the bottom half. Was only 6 months old.

So if it was $3159 before how is this a bargain?
