Entitlement to an eGift Card - What to Do with It

I had my car serviced at the Ford dealers for several years. They charged me for a service (Roadside Assistance) that I didn't get. Ford emailed me recently and said we have $55 for you and it's an entitlement to an eGift card.

What do I get when I cash it in for an eGift card. How does the shop know I have an eGift card? Do I need a mobile phone for this? I would probably get a Woolworths card and give it to the missus to use on groceries.

What did Ford say when you asked them?

    ASK FORD

  • This voucher works by allowing you to select from a range of retailer e-gift cards. You can choose any combination of gift cards, up to your total voucher balance.

That's from an email I got from Ford. I know how to get the eGift card but I don't know what format it is in. I haven't taken the step to get the card yet because I don't know if I'll need a smart mobile or what. I don't have a smart mobile. Does that make sense?

I assume you're typing on a computer? Then you can access the e-gift card and print it out to use instore.

      • Thanks, that's what I needed to know. I did a lot of searching and couldn't find that answer.

  • Got the same thing 6 months ago from Ford. If you click the link on the email you'll see all the stores you can claim gift vouchers with. I got Mighty Ape gift cards and it was a code which I entered into the site and I got credited with that amount at checkout.

    • I also got mine 6 months back but was unable to follow it up until now.

  • If only there was a place on the internet you could search for this kind of thing

$55!! you can afford a nice bottle of wine with that.

    • I'll give it to the missus and earn points (with her) for it.

  • I remember getting an eGift card for participating in a survey. They sent the eGift card as a URL link, and from there I could split my giftcard ($60) into retailer’s giftcards. They only had $10, $20 and $50 retail giftcard choices though.
Once you purchase a retail giftcard with the eGift card (e.g I used my $60 for 3 x $20 Coles giftcards), then you get a code which you show the person on the register when you’re purchasing.

Good info, thanks. I'm an oldie and I was being a bit careful. I didn't want to do my dough with a mistake. The T&Cs threaten no replacement etc.
Thanks to all. I'm outta here.
