Mazda 3 4th Service Suggestions for Sydney

Hi All-
My Mazda 3 driven around 30 K ( Thanks to no parking at office) is due for 4th Service. Looking for a preferred and reliable independent service in Sydney ( Prefer places around Ryde) to do the service. Getting 400 dollars quote from the dealer which seems to be at the higher range and personally have never appreciated all past warranty services.

  • I got all my services done with http://www.toponeautomotive.com.au/ in Arncliffe. My personal experience with them has been great and they don't overcharge me with things that I don't need.

  • Jaxx Tyres on Ryde Road Pymble. Always took my Mazda there - they're great! Reasonably priced and excellent service!

  • How old is the car?

You servicing every 6 or 12 months?

Mazda servicing intervals and pricing are a joke. They make BMW and Merc basic services look cheap.

    • 4 years service every 12 months

If you're averaging around 7.5k per year, I'd wait until 10k to service it even though it's longer than 12 months.

Engine oil won't degrade in 10k/16 months. Otherwise, you'll be changing filter early, and it distorts future services as they are based on KMs rather than time.

        If you're doing 10k every 2 years, that's a different story.

        • Thanks JB1. I have clocked around 10 K between my last service and today so I am eager to go for the next service. Still a valuable info. Much appreciated.

        • @auindie:

Regardless of who you are servicing it with, I'd recommend you purchase some Full Synthetic oil (that meets your engine specs) and tell the workshop to use it.

          A few reasons:
          - They will use the cheapest oil they can get away with, which will most likely be Semi Synthetic oil (probably cost them less than $4/L in bulk)
          - Full Synthetic oil is a better oil and will remain better for longer. For most people, Semi Synthetic oil is fine for 12 months/10k services, but Full Synthetic oil will be fine at 18 months/10k. You don't have to take it to the workshop as frequently if you drive very little.
          - You will be able to buy Full Synthetic oil on sale for less than what the workshop will charge you for inferior Semi Synthetic oil.

Castrol Edge 5W30 or other brand Full Synthetic 5W30 will be fine for your car. You can regularly pick them up for around $30-$35 for 5L on sale.

I bet the dealer charged you more than $60 for inferior (but still acceptable) Semi Synthetic oil.

Just service it every 10k or 12 months. They're reliable enough
