Whilst that is certainly true, they are a different 'class' of laptop! These are closer to an 'ultraportable', between a netbook and a notebook; whereas the Acer models you're thinking of are true notebook class machines! ;)
This is, IMHO, a pretty good price for this class of machine, and model of course! :)
they are a great laptop, just slow with the processor and 64bit win7
they actually look very stylish and the build quality is better than T series in real life situations
Have you tried using it?
When you say "build quality is better than T series", can you be more specific?
I'm kinda interested in getting one.

yes, good point
Why do you want to buy a Toyota Hilux if you can get a Great Wall Ute for much cheaper?
In almost every post of Thinkpad sale, we always seem to get "You can get a better spec with brand x" (x offering inferior range compared to Thinkpads)
Perhaps we could have a wiki so that everytime this sort of comment comes up, we can just reply with a link.
Having said that, ThinkPad Edge is a reasonably new range, and the built quality doesn't seem to compare to your typical R/T/X series:

Yep, you tend to get that same phenomenon on a wide variety of posted bargains; I used to try to argue the point about apples & oranges, then I realised it was pointless! I sometimes post a comment to that effect (as here), but I don't debate it anymore!
I've just learned to increase my tolerance threshold for specious comparisons! :p
HT selling $723
I got an R series, honestly the build quality of the Thinkpad is amazing.
If you like Series R, you will be amazed by Series T :)
You'll love more the x-series, cannot recommend more… but… there is a but, have to admit there are better looking machines out there like Sony Vaio or Mac… but none of them match Lenovo build quality imho
Scotty,
I am waiting for another Vostro I5 deal for 650 dollars
Hope, you will post them soon :)
Anyone try to access this deal today? I'm getting a cart price of $194 in credit. Could add a few accessories and call it even maybe? Too bad the cart doesn't let you checkout though.
For $599 I think with Acer you can get a i3 with 4GB ram and 6 cell battery
