  • We just stayed at the Meriton central MASCOT.. Booked through trivago.

We had a king suite $130 per night.

Couple of mins walk from MASCOT train station…easy to get into city/Central station.

Bus 400 runs from both airport terminals to mascot station.

Room was Fab, we stayed in room 1021, had views of airport, balcony, kitchen/lounge/ dining area, nice clean bedroom, would def stay there again, they also have pool and gym on site. Woolworths and cafes/restaurants 2 mins walk

    • driving to sydney from the north, so being near airport isnt a big deal

Seems like that would be a bit more out of the way than ideal if coming from that direction?

      • Meriton chatswood is nice
and next to the train station

  • hilton or westin

  • Ed Sheeren is in Homebush - the best way to get there is by train
Lyric is in Darling harbour - I'd stay closer to this one if I was you.

Anywhere in the City would be fine to walk there.

Also consider Surry Hills, Glebe, The Rocks for accomodation.
It would only be a short taxi trip and its still relatively central.

If you stay near the city you can use Central, Town hall or Wynyard stations as a get on point to get to homebush.

As LMwauuk says - mascot is 1 or 2 stops from central.

Be aware the train trip to and from the airport is expensive but it is convenient - so uber, taxi or bus

Novotel Rockford is on the edge of darling harbour and China town and 5min walk to central for the homebush train.
Looks like under $170 for tomorrow night.

    • I've stayed here and can confirm that it's nice, clean, reasonably priced and in the vicinity of Darling Harbour.

They sometimes do groupon offers, so make sure to check on there too :)

      • thanks
Looks like a crazy expensive weekend in Sydney, as even this is $400+ for the Friday night im looking at

        • yeh..consider booking for my girl next weekend and so expensive.

Just a hint for going to Olympic Park: If you hate absolutely packed public transport, get a train to Concord West and walk through Bicentennial park (20-25 minute walk) instead. It's what all the cool people do!

  • Airbnb - easy to search via the map to identify a place close to where you want to be.

  • Anywhere near the city will be fine.
OP 'decent' doesn't really give a price range.
Give a price range and you will get 'bang for your buck' recommendations.
I would suggest Metro Hotel Marlow - stayed there a few times. Pretty central and easy to get everywhere.

  • Thanks for the tips, and yeah, should have thrown a price range in..

    Around, $300 for the night?
Rarely get a kid free outting so happy to spend a few more bucks for something that might make the wife think I spend more. ;)

    • this is a new one but i agree with tuzii.
Hilton or Westin with breakfast included is around that mark.

      • well, Westin looks to be like $800/night for that weekend

Quite a premium compared to a different weekend i searched

  • Looks like Hilton and Westin are both way over budget for that Friday night :/

  • There's a better site for this sort of thing… it's called Tripadvisor. You might have heard of it?

    • not as bargain focused :)

  • Shangri-la

At about 700 a night for that weekend, I think thats unbargain friendly ;)
