Hello i just built a new gaming pc and was wondering what a good antivirus would be for it i want to keep it virus free and fast as possible thanks you!
What Antivirus to Use on a Gaming PC?
Comments
Malwarebytes is the only thing I use. Use the free version too, you don't need real time scanning. Just run it every now and then if you have been downloading stuff you aren't totally sure of.
I use it on all my family's PCs as they aren't really tech savvy and download lots of malware all the time.
second adwcleaner and rkill (from bleeping computer, google it).
recently ran clamwin, off portableapps.com. i could run it off a usb stick and was able to clean up my in-laws pc and found a few viruses and trojans in 3rd party software and ancient emails.
No harm in running Windows Defender with the addition of MBAM if you're careful.
Rkill + ADWCleaner + MBAM is the perfect combo for cleaning a machine.
Malwarebytes and Avira Free
none: don't click on clickbaits stuff, e.g. no porns.
Same here. Windows Defender comes preinstalled in Windows 10 and it's very lightweight so I leave it running.
The best protection against viruses is the person at the keyboard.
Just make sure Windows is always kept up to date.
Kaspersky is so far proven to catch the most of the nasties in my experience on several machines.
Avast Business Security - free !
Sophos endpoint protection plus MalwareBytes paid edition (legacy license, when I paid like $30 for a lifetime license).
windows defender and some common sense works great.
I pirate movies tv shows and games for as long as i can remember and ive NEVER had a single virus or problem.
how do you know something is safe to download before downloading it?
Antivirus is the virus.
Webroot, click on whatever the hell you want and it will pick it up.
Very very good endpoint protection.
It even updates its databases as quickly as possible if there a new type virus or malware out in real time.Avast went to shit but I still use it, I just have pretty much none of the components installed except for the basic file shield/anti virus component, and I keep it in silent mode indefinitely.
Based on my experience, I think Windows Defender is already sufficient for personal computer's security. If you check out the latest test results from AVTEST and AVComparatives, you can see WD has done a pretty good job recently with the windows 10 update and the overall protection rate is on par with some big titles like ESET NOD32 and Avast/AVG.
For third party antivirus, I used to trust Avast but it has so many bloatware now, so I would not recommend it. My top three 3rd part AV:
- NOD32
- Bitdefender Free
- Avira free
Malware Bytes and Windows Defender is good enough for me. Just don't click on random links, Download random stuff and Don't pirate stuff and you should be good. I also run Adwcleaner and Rkill once a week just to make sure. I just hate software like Norton, Mcafee and Kasperski because they always bombard you with useless notification which slows down your PC at start up.
