Platinum Combi Car Wash 2 for $30 @ Coles Express

70

Not sure if many of us know that Coles fuel stations are doing this deal since a number of months. The automatic car wash, especially the platinum combi is much better than other automatic car wash I have seen. The current deal is 2 for $30 or single one for $20. A number of us are returning back to work after a long holiday with kids so thought of uploading this deal to get the car wash done before we head back to work :)

Delete it if this deal is not worth a bargain.

Scratches and swirl marks are complimentary.

  • $20 for 2 car washes is pretty common.

    • Where? My local car wash prices start at close to $50

      • Coles Express in Waitara or GP in Hornsby. Groupon sometimes has cheap wash coupons. Close to $50 must be hand wash. OP’s deal is machine wash.

  • No thanks I'm good ;)
I prefer to wash my own car so I know it's actually been washed and not just dinged up.

  • are coles carwashes brush less? or do they use those horrible scratch making brushes?

My local one uses brushes… horrible horrible horrible…

You have a choice with the more premium washes as 'soft cloth' or touchless.

      Main problems:

      • Cloth has embedded dirt from previous washes that can scratch
      • Water is usually recycled to an extent, therefore the dirt particles in the water scratches
      • With touchless, they use a high ph (alkaline) detergent, which can cause reaction to some paints, but mainly other areas (trims, finishes etc)
      • Despite claims, you never get 100% coverage properly with the clean (when done manually, you can get into every nook and cranny if you can be bothered)

Your car is better off being cleaned with a 2 bucket method at home with a little effort, proper cleaning practise and 30 mins of your time (for a regular wash).

Scratches and swirl marks are complimentary as well….but at least it is free! Bargain!

I don’t understand the economics of car washes. You can get a proper hand wash and chamois dry, tyre shine etc for $20 at most car washes. I guess these automatic ones are quicker though.

    • The majority of hand washes also don't utilise proper practise to minimise a scratch/swirl free wash. That is why they employ 457 workers and minimise their consumable costs by reusing budget and reused materials.

If you have a shit box, no problem. If you value your car, wash it yourself or use a proper detailer (who will charge for their knowledge and experience).

So a $20 automatic brush wash is better than a $20 hand wash? Not sure who you’re arguing with.

        • No, if you comprehended correctly, I explicitly said a hand wash on a budget from a third party/company will cut back on materials and labour to make it profitable (unless you go to a proper detailer……they won't charge you $20…). The same business model automatic car washes use.

Your self proclaimed $17 Crystal wash from selected locations (not all do it) is as good as throwing a bucket of soap on your car, rinsing it with a pressure washer and then rubbing the set dirt/grime (on previously contaminated, used towels) while drying it off.

I look forward to you providing some before/after photos (in macro, sunlight) as evidence of a 'proper, quality hand wash' (as proclaimed) for $17

        • @MrRevhead: Nice. Username checks out :)

Where for $20? I live in Sydney never seen 20.
