Snapdragon 810… probably best to avoid this phone considering that it's a 3 year old SoC and is also well known for over-heating and poor battery efficiency.

    • +7

If that's the case, then I would suggest spending a bit more on something like the Axon 7 which is $299 @ OW. It has a newer and more efficient SD820, extra gig of ram and the same resolution on an amoled screen.

      • +2

The only problem is you can't find any in stock.

        • -4

          Gumtree.

        • +6

@AlienC: Really? The positive experiences of buying the phone you wanted at the price you wanted on gumtree are 1 in 10 at best.
Better off looking elsewhere on eBay or trying to hunt down OW stock.

        • @pennypincher98: I mean yeah go that route first but last resort after all else has failed is eBay, Facebook marketplace and gumtree.

        • @AlienC: Yes, in that order. However, if you have to resort to gumtree it's probably not worth it. At least meet up with the person.

      • That's a sick deal. But is it still available?

        • According to the rep, calling your nearest stores is the best way to check as they are marked as a clearance product. One member was lucky enough to get it at $200! If you do find a store with stock, try price matching with the receipt as another member was able to do so too

Agreed. 2015 was a bad year for SoCs.

      Severely hampered the Nexus 6P

never touch 810 as it was designed with flaws, and even not as good as 808…..

    • Yeah my previous phone was LG G4.

LG went with 808 instead of 810. Says a lot about the 810.

  • +1

The 10 Evo with 810 is the re-work version. Much better than the older one.

    • Yup, so far so good. Using one in the family and it has been working flawlessly.

    • +1

I use the HTC 10 (SD 820) and works like a charm. No overheating and awesome battery life.

  • +1

Never noticed any of these supposed 810 flaws when using a Z1 Premium.

    • +1

I've heard that sony use heatpipe to keep it cool.

    • +1

Sony does a lot of under clocking and throttling to keep the heat managed. Not just heat pipes. You notice this on benchmarks.

        • Interesting. My Z5 Compact gets hot.. but never to the point of shutting down, crashing or untouchable. It's smaller than the rest so you'd think it has the least amount of cooling really.
Always thought the Z3's were using the older gen 805's but seems like the Z3+ was basically the Z4 tetraphobia stop gap with the Z5 range.

I've got a letv pro 1 that has this processor, and that seems perfectly fine. It doesn't really heat up badly. I'm concurrently using it with another phone with an SD 805, not much downside, just better performance. Battery life seems fine too.

Definitely no where near as hot as my old galaxy note 1.

  • +1

The 10 Evo is slightly bigger than the 10 and has no headphone jack. Also the screen isn't quite as good.

  • +2

You dont have to ring lots of ow stores, they can check each others stock. Thats how i got one.
Their online inventory sucks …their inhouse inventory works.

  • +1

SD 810 still a decent SOC

At this price I think it's decent, can't see many mid-range phones around the same price that best it. and they all run SD 617 or water down Kirin CPUS that dont score anywhere near as high in Antutu vs the SD 810

my only conern is that its item location is not AU.

  • I bought this and now they have messaged me saying they don’t have enough 64gb stock. Jeez how hard is it to manage your eBay listing and inventory. They offered me the 32gb version but no offer for discount!
