Flight Metro Pro Flat Bar Bike - 105 Groupset for $300 (Variable Freight Applies) at Rebel Sport

210

Trawling around looking for a new bike and came across this deal today for $300. The frame itself is too tiny for me at 15", but for those smaller people this is a great bargain.

The groupset alone retails for more than the bike is selling for and is generally found on bikes 4 times this price. I have been considering buying to part out on ebay and make a few bucks but thought Id save for someone who might use.

Cant comment on the quality of the frame, never had any experience with the 'Flight' brand but I imagine it would be a Chinese open mold frame.

Wow, that is an awesome price for a 105 groupset (not sure about brakes).

  • Hmm not sure that it is actually 105 gear. Shift levers appear to be wrong and not sure that I have come across a 30 speed 105 set. Of course could be completely wrong and shall just go away and shutup.

    • This is an old 105 groupset, either 5600 or 5700 series, and yes you can get a triple ring on the front, add 10 speed at the back, that's 30 speed for you.

Looks like a good deal - but $60 postage!
Its probably still a good deal but paying that much for postage just annoys the hell out of me.

  • Didn't think 105 series had flat bar levers? Only drops?
And it's usually only 2 on the front?

Can see it's old 5 spider crank. But what is the true parts?

Still ok specs, others at the price have the sloppy Altus and stuff.

  • Would be over 3 years old already as thats the last of 10sp 105. I would expect only the rear derailleur to be 105 and maybe 1 or 2 other parts but i think brakes would be another brand as it usual. Vary rare to get a full groupset with lower priced bikes.

Looks like it's a mix of Tiagra and 105 bits. video overview

  • Its a "15 inch" frame, which I assume it means its a 38cm. Which is tiny and only for shorties.

They also have a drop-bar bike tiagra/105 small frame $220+del.

    But no pedals :-(

    • No pedals is pretty standard on high end bikes, people tends to get their favourite clipless pedals along with the bike, and bike shops can typically throw in a basic one for free if needs be.

And again, its only available in small, so shorties only.

    • No pedals and no stock

My order is on its way!!
      Nice find. THanks.

I ordered the other Boardman that was posted on the website the other day but that order was cancelled because Rebel didnt have stock.

I actually wanted Road Bike more as I was researching on Ozbargain on previous prices but the bike was not available for sale a couple of days ago. Thanks for spotting the sale and shared with us.

Looks like Shimano 105 5700, which, as others have said, is already quite old. The next iteration of the shimano 105 groupset is going to come out soon, with 5800 being released three years ago (and 5700 in 2011, 7 years ago). Say that even the chain, cassette and BB are 105 5700, it's still got non-series (possibly unbranded) V brakes, a triple crank (which is not as popular these days) and flat bar shifters (drop bar sti levers are much more expensive and hold much more value on the second hand market). You would lose money parting it out and selling it on ebay.

Still a good deal to buy and use as a first bike though.

  • Roughly what height person would suit a 15" road bike? thanks.
