      • +1

Hahaha classic response. True Ozbargainer. You have to get something when its free regardless of whether or not you actually want it.

    • You can buy all. It's not locked to 1.

    • The Girls of Mischief Bay

      The Lie

  • no US links?

    • I'm curious, why you need a US link?

      • +3

Coz my amazon account was set to US. Any US link?

        • +8

Open up the individual link to the book and remove the .au from the URL. Works for me to grab the book to my US Amazon account

        • +1

@m00seTheC0wSnake: Mind blown! Worked a treat. Many thanks.

        • @nonpop:

Strange it doesnt work for me.

        • +3

@lonewolf: For ref … I clicked on each book. Then just removed the ".au" part only and hit enter. It brought up the book and had zero dollars.

        • @nonpop:

Thats exactly what i did too… strange.

        • @nonpop: that’s it. Sorry, should have been clearer in my instructions!

  • +3

The description is worded such that it indicates only one book is available per reader. However, it seems that you can actually download them all if you wish.

    • +1

Can confirm. Just claim, go back, claim another one.

  • never heard of any of them

Spare me! The others are not worthy of you!

  • Is this the first "free" stuff from amazon Australia?

    • well amazon books were always free regardless of region (i think)

      • Yes, some books are free but not many and definitely not ALL. I have found that the free ones usually are book 1 of … and you have to purchase the others if you want to continue the story, but that is just my experience. Also the books are never best sellers or top 20 books. Usually new authors or very very old classic books like Wind in the willows (I think that is the name, lol). Yet I have found a few quite good books, again not top 20 but an enjoyable enough read.

  • I am also on the US Amazon, is it easy to change my profile to work with the Australian amazon and back again to the US after i have the books?

    • I don't believe it's easy to change back and forward. It may cause problems with any subscriptions you may have. I have a US account because I signed up before there were Aus accounts. I have stayed with a US account because I believe their collection may be bigger and I thought the prices would be cheaper. I've been surprised recently to see that some Aus prices for the same US ebooks have been cheaper than the US prices. I believe Amazon is trying to push people to their natural region etc.

    • Yes it's easy. I change my registered country often (US, UK, AU) and have never had a problem. You just need to choose a random dummy address in the country you want, then go to the 'Content and Devices' page of your Amazon account and click the Settings tab. There you'll see a place to change your country.

It's sometimes also necessary to click the link to confirm that you'll be buying books from the new country in that country's currency.

For those on US Amazon just open up the individual link to the book and remove the .au from the URL. Works for me to grab the books to my US Amazon account

If it's not showing as free for you, try using a VPN connected to a US server.

Edit: Damn… now not working for me

    • Yes, not working for me either (in US store). Thanks for trying though! Strange that….

    • They're working for me now.

For free and dropped-price books at any time, check out www.ereaderiq.com. It's got a good filter facility, and you can set up email alerts to be notified when the price drops /goes to free for particular books or any book by a particular author.

The site supports Amazon US, UK and Canada, but it's easy enough to switch your registered country to any of those. See my post above.

  • I am on Amazon US, I get this error when I try to buy them on the US site

Which model of Kindle is the ozbargain preferred?

    • I use the Kindle app on my iPhone and iPad

    • +4

Paperwhite. Nice res screen with backlight and wifi. Not waterproof, but not a big deal for me

    • I second the Paperwhite.

    • +1 for the Paperwhite, but definitely get an ereader that is backlit

      • Technically the Kindle is frontlit, unlike an LCD which is backlit.

    • to be honest the "free" kindle app for any android, Mac or Windows (maybe Iphone too) from the relevant store is the best bargain.

  • I love reading, no(*w)t to just find the time. Thanks OP!!! Had no issues downloading but then again I already had an account set up with all my electronics. Did not even need to log in, LOL.

  • Seems more like they just made these books free and found some generic reason to make it seem like it was a gesture of good will from Amazon Au.
Thanks for sharing anyway, free is free!
