  • Price appears to be normal price.

    So why post it then?

    • +18

Still cheaper than the Xiaomi ones posted earlier..

      • +19

        But ozbargainers love Xiaomi only.

        • +19

Last time I checked they loved bargains also… ;) Nothing wrong with a little competition.

        • +16

          Nope. I strongly dislike Xiaomi.

        • +4

@Third_Gear: how dare u, turn in ur badge

        • +10

they have diversified into too many things and bought too many companies just so they can put their name on products …. so not always the best of breed now.

        • +1

          @garage sale:

Are you sure they bought too many companies? Or just joint venture or partnership.

        • +7

That Xiaomi one didn't have band 28 though.

        • @superforever: Joint ventures, partnerships and investment. They own a very tiny fraction.

        • @Clear:

I think they never produce it by themselves just used their brand name.

        • @superforever: Technically speaking the only Xiaomi products are those with the Mi or MiJIA logo. The rest are from other companies, e.g. Yeelight, Aqara, ZMI and Yi.

We need another 3 Woodworm's for 20 bucks deal :|

    • +5

Woodworms are shit. The metal top rusts and mine broke after 5 uses….

      • +6

I've had mine for years. Only thing that ever went wrong was the Velcro wearing out!

        • Yup. Same experience.
          Nice and big and strong.
Velcro does get a little flimsy over time.

One did flip inside out and break in a massive gust of wind once but overall I’m very happy

    • +1

Me too i am waiting for woodworms for $20, this time i will take it atleast 9 :)

  • +14

But if it's not a Xiaomi how will people know that I'm an OzBargainer and like really cool?

    • +3

You can get permission and put OzBargain sticker on it… ;)

      • +2

Hold up. Are there OzBargain stickers?

        • +1

Have to find deals on that now… ;-)

        • At the moment there are only t-shirts and shopping bags.

          Image

They asked whoever is interested to create a discussion forum and if there is enough interest.. you never know..

        • +1

@bigbadboogieman: I'd wear that red one.

    • +1

because xiaomi don’t have an australian presence, they aren’t well known in australia outside the demographic that shops on chinese ecommerce sites.

      • +1

So you're saying that xiaomi users in Australia are hipsters?

  • +9

    I'd prefer this one

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Vanwalk-Travel-Umbrella-Windproof-…

Same price but slighty bigger due to double canopy

    • The vented design really helps with wind. Similar to bunnings umbrellas with vents. Those are really windproof.

      • +1

i have bunnings umbrellas because i can take them back if they break.

people also need to differentiate between sun / golf umbrellas primary purpose is shade, vs rain umbrellas which need to deal with water and wind.
wind is the big issue which breaks badly designed umbrellas.

        • +1

where i work there is a wind tunnel when crossing the street. everytime it was rainy and windy you see so many umbrellas broken and chucked in the bin. most of the bunnings umbrella survived and we all got 1 after!

    • +1

      this is only 9 rib

      • Yes. The 10th one was given to Eve.

        • Took you 24 hours to come up with that?

          :P

        • @AussieMark: No, it was on the sixth day.

        • @Tiggrrrrr:

          Amen..

I thought you'd tell me you came right on time..

  • +8

Is this the first ever Amazon Australian deal on OzBargain?
Amazon AU is such a fizzer.

    • I recall a number of Huggies nappies deals on Amazon au. I'm sure they've been others too.. But agree, fizzer!

      • +1

The best deal was the Logitech speaker for $28
Turn out to be pricing error. SAD

        • +1

as was the multicooker … also, pricing error.

        • but we all got $50 voucher, which wasn't so bad

      • The Babylove nappies was a pricing error. Got a $20 voucher though.

        • Same got $20 voucher to be honest it wasn’t that much cheaper than when they are on sale in the supermarkets like 2c a nappy cheaper? And this being ozbargain everyone would of got minimum $50 order for free shipping, look they don’t have that much of a purchasing power?

        • +1

          @mikedenoob:

The Babylove nappy pants were significantly cheaper than the supermarket on sale price (even 50%) so I was a little disappointed.

      • You recall incorrectly, I’ve made comments before about how all their huggies were more expensive than supermarkets and I have to buy in larger quantitiestoo. Though the baby love nappies were cheap, none were delivered, so does that count? Probs not.

    • +1

They had a decent Sonos flash sale a couple of weeks ago.

  • +4
    • +7

Some people really value the extra 2 inches

    • At that price you'd really expect them to throw in free shipping.
Was it $2299.00 when you posted? Or does Amazon have some sort of algorithm that adjusts the price based on how many people are looking at an item?

      • Yeah it was $2299. But you're right, shipping kills it!

    • +3

$2299?! Is it one of those bulletproof machinegun umbrellas that the Penguin uses?

    • +2

Hurry, there are only 5 left.

    • Maybe this is a pricing error too??

      • If this is pricing error there is possibility to get $200 voucher. Any punters?

  • I only use umbrella maybe 3 times a year….

    • +11

      YYYY Peter???

      • +1

        'cause he's not from Melbourne

        • Sydney has a lot more rain amd rainy days than Melbourne

        • +5

@chumlee: True, but at least you can dine out in Sydney. Meanwhile Melbourne is overrun with #AfricanGangs and Peter Dutton is too scared to eat at a McDonalds.

        • +1

          @Consumer Sheep:
          eh lock out laws.

        • @Consumer Sheep:Dutton is such a (profanity). Dog whistling for the Herald Sun. What a joke. Maybe we should all send selfies to him at our favourite restaurants.

  • +8

If everyone else buys a black one, and I buy a red one, that could make for a powerful cinematic moment.

    • +1

Pixar did a great short about this.

  • +6

do people need to mention that umbrellas are waterproof?

    • +2

Umbrella is often the word used for parasols, which often enough aren't water proof.

      So yes.

      But also no.

      • +24

Beware that the Chinese ones like Xiaomi aren't approved for use in Australian rain and could cause your house to burn down and void your insurance.

        • Not to mention not approved for consumption and could contain traces of

        • Don't you mean causing a flood instead?

        • +1

I believe it is the Samsung ones that may spontaneously combust and should be returned for a full refund/replacement.

  • Nice one!

  • Meh. I think the love for automatic umbrellas here is more just a love for collecting Xiaomi.

Unless this can automatically retract the stick, I'll be waiting for the xiaomi one to pop up again. Yes, just because it's Xiaomi. I don't think I've used an umbrella in line 10 years.

    • xiaomi one to pop up again.

      Nice.

    • "Unless this can automatically retract the stick, I'll be waiting for the xiaomi one to pop up again."
I was actually specifically checking for this but the description on Xiaomi says you still have to manually retract the stick.

      • Yeah, I've yet to see one that can do this.

      • +1

"you still have to manually retract the stick"

        That's what she said.

  • dOES IT RUN ON ENELOOPS?

    • The future versions might charge eneloops if you hold it at the correct angle… ;-)

      • Probably can now, if you hold the eneloops and stand in an open park/field, whilst holding the umbrella up in the air during lightning :)

    • only if you type in ALL caps.

  • +1

what on earth is an automatic umbrella?

    • +5

Press a button and it springs up and open, press the button again and it closes. You’ll then need to push it down (I know, a lot of effort right).

Might sound like a gimmick but when raining and your getting out of the car it means being able to extend your arm out and have it pop outwards quicker and when you’re getting back in the car, press the button have it close bring it down quick twist side to side to get off most of the water and you’re in without getting extra wet.

      • +5

I use mine to control the rain using the MiHome app and Bluetooth.

      • it’s not gimmick, we just don’t see them for sale retail much as the dollar shops sell crap ones and people buy for emergencies , so that has set the $5-$10 price point and quality point.

      • +1

Yeah definitely not a gimmick. When your other hand is carrying stuff and you need to quickly hop on a tram its super useful to just have the umbrella close itself. Now only if they can make one that can retract itself.

  • +2

Why don't they have one with an inbuilt waterproof bluetooth speaker

    • Yeah… Should it also play the Star Wars Darth Vader theme everytime it's opened…?

      • +1

Or when just walking, so people are aware ur coming and to move the f aside

  • I am wondering what else they include in the $2299 one along with the umbrella..?

  • Review on Amazon US seems ok:
