How Many Flybuys Points Did You Earn in 2017

Flybuys just sent out an email with your points earning stats for 2017. Most people with high points would probably have earnt it on bonus points.

What did you earn in your whole family in 2017.

We managed to get close to 100k with a small family. Most were from Coles. We could have gotten over easily if it wasn't for the incentives from Woolworths…

For those > 100k, what did you earn?

In 2017 you collected 85,510 flybuys points. 80,818 of those were BONUS POINTS!

Most of the bonus points were from 10,000 point offers as well as one crazy dog food deal where the points earned were worth way more than the product purchased.

I was actually creeped out by this email from FlyBuys overall, especially when it advised I've bought over 80 bottles of Mountain Dew. No Coles, you lie!

    • I think it depends how often you mix up your junk foods. My top foods where skim milk and vegetables, which is B/s. I pretty much get two large chip packets every time I've used my card for these promotions, a hell lot more times then cabbage and zucchini. But they didn't list the chips and maybe it was because it wasn't consistent brand/flavor, I get what ever is half price and like all flavors.

This thread is a treasure trove of information for Coles. They will be able to match Flybuys accounts to ozbargain users to work out who is gaming the system and how.

    • flybuys points are so worthless these days I doubt they even care.
The whole point isn't so much loyalty as it is for their data marketing team.

You shopped and you received $140 OFF YOUR SHOP

    NB, I like free money

  • Can everyone post how much $ off your shop you also got? I think the amount they list is where you choose to take $$$ instead of points on offers.

    • It’s says I got $232 off my shopping however I always chose to receive bonus flybuys points.

Points are much more flexible and doesn't have the disadvantage of increasing any targets by the dollar amount used.

      • I shop at Coles nearly every week and I always spend north of $100 in a shop so I always use the $50 immediately before I am given a new offer.

84213/75987 of those were bonus for 2017

I live alone. I seemed to get a lot of spend 50/60 dollars a week (for 4 weeks) receive 10000pts this year. I don't use my flybuys rewards card for anything else. This amount is perfect for me. I don't know why I got so many of these offers this year, maybe the algorithm is targeting my demographics this time around. And like most here, I don't shop at Coles when there's no promotion, or use my rewards card. I'm lucky to have a Woolies/Aldi close by too.

Because I'm in the fortunate position to be a F/T student, I can shop at 9-10am during the day, and buy what perishable is at 50% because it needs to be used that day, and make bulk meals from it to freeze. Usually what's discounted determines what I eat for the week, good for mixing it up for cooking.

So that's $421. I usually get a bunch of $50 coles gift cards for the Xmas/New years season. Still have 3 left over from last year.

  • Got more than 40k points on both my cards. strangely enough 14k of these were in apr, they must have ran lot of promotions in Apr i guess

  • 56k with only 1000 from bonus. Most of it is from Coles CC on bills and paying for medical expenses…

    I bought Coles brand Snakes 33 times, I can't resist them for $1 :P

  • I use flybuys card regularly when I purchase anything from Coles. However, I never see any offer listed under 'offers' section, nor I receive any emails for the offer. Is it normal?

    • They never reward much for loyalty because they know you're gonna shop there anyway. I use mine regularly and I never get any offers as well but my wife who doesn't usually gets offers so we just use hers if there is some offer and mine if there's none.

      • So on what basis you reckon they send offers (in account or by email)? Is it random?

        • My guess would be shopping habits, might be random or some other factors. Or get another flybuys card.

    • Probably. Same way Ozbargain makes me buy xiaomi stuff maybe?

    • Do you let flybuys e-mail you offers? Most of my bonus points came from either spend $50 or $80 and get 1000 points (which require the offer to be activated by clicking on the link in the e-mail) or buy the gift cards which are offering bonus points e.g. 1000 bonus points when you buy a $50 Netflix gift card
