Hows camera quality….?
Really Clear
agreed, 720p does the job, I'm no camera pro though
2MP and really clear go together?.
@hollykryten: Yes, easily.
Good enough for a 1970s colour TV…
Would love to hear your thoughts on this and the Bugs3 when you get it !
Don’t get this drone it’s crap. Mine doesn’t hover well in the air at all and just kept failing after airborne for like less than 15sec
Not worth $40?
Wait, the XS809HW should not be affected by what you are describing.
The XS809W fell out of the sky as it didnt have a horizontal stabilizer.
This deal is for the XS809HW right?
Mine hovers fine, have you tried resetting the trim as per the instructions.
Mine hovers fine too, love the drone, good fun and pretty easy to control
Thanks guys!
@klownvandamn: I've got a couple of dozen of them, they are great. I've got 12 on order for a slightly cheaper price (should have posted it when i ordered) and plenty of batteries on order.
Take to the park with the dog walking team, get 10 in the air and a dozen dogs chasing them - great fun.
When they get snatched out of the sky and destroyed, not such an issue for $40.
Just watch the batteries around animals and kids - puncture them and they dont smell nice and the white flash of pain as the lithium reacts with the air, not good :)
I do this too, my dog goes nuts trying to catch it, mine has many bite marks and it still flies. After 10mins (1 battery) my dog is exhausted. Extra batteries are a good idea too and they are cheap enough.
Great drone for the money.
Wouldn't the props be a hazard for your dogs eyes?
Where did you buy and how much were spare batteries? I had asked the rep on a previous deal but had no luck.
@Jackal: ebay - $5 a piece or there-abouts
Question already answered
@MorriJ: OK broden.
Those YouTube videos aren’t very flattering. Get what you pay for I suppose.
Just got mine today which I ordered early Dec, slow delivery.
Sounds normal with free shipping from China!
What date did you order? I ordered mine on the 8/12 and it arrived just before xmas.
ordered on 9/12 and arrived today, 1 month + 1 day.
Yours should arrive soon.
Same - ordered Dec 8, received Jan 10
I ordered mine from Gearbest on 30 Nov and still waiting….. :(
I think Gesrbest hast faster delivery, in general.
not on this occasion unfortunately..
I bought this when it was previously on sale with priority shipping and I would say it is a nice drone for the price. For under $40 you can't expect too much and there is no point in comparing it to higher end models.
Pros
* It is cheap
* It has altitude control which works reasonable well
* Easy to fly and to perform tricks
* It can take a few knocks
Cons
* Short battery life of 7-10 mins per recharge
* Not great in windy conditions
* Camera recording via wifi onto a phone isn't great quality although the quality is better when recording direct onto microSD.
Bottom line: I think it well worth $40 if you consider it a toy.
Do the automatic land or take off buttons work? I've never flown a RC plane or heli or drone, do I need them?
I just tried mine today, the take off button works well.
I am surprised that it supports the Micro SD card and store the photo and vedio directly to it. It is a plus to me.
take off and landing works, one key return not work, headless sometime work sometime does not work, range is about 20-30m max
"windy conditions", yeah lol had to pick a windy day to try and check those gutters. So many times I got it high up and a large gust came and sent it down to the back fence, what a drama trying to also not hit the roof (for a noob) in those conditions! Fun tho
Down Down , the price is Down
It's on sale at Coles too?
Your money now Fly-Bye….
Bought myself one for xmas (and another for secret santa) during the last deal. Highly recommend, it's a great little introductory drone.
It's pretty pissweak during wind so you have to use them on calm days, but the camera is pretty good and it's great to hoon around with at the park.
I have this before but for some reason cannot start video recording from the controller, have to use the phone app.
Where can you get extra batteries - tried to add through their site and they wont ship batteries to aus
I bought 3 batteries from eBay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-7V-900mAh-Li-on-Battery-for-VI…
they sell extra batteries, but my November order from lightinthebox.com is still stuck in Sweden as the batteries are unfit for airmail and lightinthebox.com won't talk to you till its been 60 days
But PayPal will.
Damn. Priority shipping is $20!!
Hey guys how can I apply the 5% cashback bonus. When i clicked on the link, it took me to the cashback website, registered and then got a link from the cashback website to the drone page. When i tried to check out the 5% doesnt come up. any help would be great. Thanks.
Ur discount should be automatically added to your cr site if you went through the link.
First time fly a drone and tried today after work.
I will recommend this drone as well, very easy to fly and can store the pictures in Micro SD card directly.
https://www.lightinthebox.com/drone-mjx-b3-4ch-6-axis-2-4g-r…
<$5 get a 1080p one?? (Granted I know nothing about drones, just reading the cam spec)
That's what I thought, plus shipping though.
Good find. The review is in Spanish, and me no habla espanol :(
Reviews say it's misadvertised and that it's actually 720p. Also the MicroSD slot is fake on the camera. Beware…
I thought the same after watching the YouTube review. But tried today and the MicroSD slot is not fake. Put in a MicroSD card and took photo or Vedic from mobile app, you will find they are stored on the MicroSD card. Have not tried to take photo/Vedic from the remote but I guess it won’t work.
The micro SD slot is not housed properly, i lost my inside the casing and had to cut a very small rectangle area to pull it out. But it does work surprisingly. The home return button has no affect, mine kept flying till it hit a roof and has been there since Monday. Connectivity isn't the greatest.
Thanks for the heads up. I took the MicroSD card out last nigh to check the photo and Vedio, will be extra careful next time.
Spend a little more and get something like this https://www.lightinthebox.com/new-syma-x5hw-fpv-rc-quadcopte… Syma are a good brand and my Syma quad was an absolute tank, it was amazing. Plus you can buy parts if they break
But 0.3MP camera?
Okay yeah that's pretty bad, I thought this was 2MP also
Bought the same model from Gearrubbish $44. Home button does not work and does not like windy days at all (10K wind max). When wifi connection is lost it just flies away and ends up on a roof like mine. Couldn't get it down again as i was too far from wifi connection (about 10 meters from ground to top of roof pitch) and the arms were bent back. Hoping one day with extreme weather it might fall off the roof and i can retrieve the SD card. BTW the video is pretty good and flying around a massive oval is fun, as a toy.
Great drone for money, my 5 years old love it so much, easy to control, camera is ok. but i dont trust this site, bought Xiaomi earphone since Nov and still no sign of it.
The MJX Bugs 6 is still available from this deal at Gearbest/Banggood
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/352746
I was tossing up between this and the Bugs 6.
mate thats over $120(i rather buy the one from Aldi much better quality and spec) , we are talking about $40 drone here, i dont think any other drone can beat this ozbargain-proved.
For the extra money, you are actually getting a much better brushless drone. Feel free to spend your $40 on a toy.
I want to get much more use out of the Bugs 6 instead of first buying this drone to then realise I should have spent a bit more for the Bugs :)
i like bugs 6, going to get one for myself if a deal comes up, but still my son very happy with his $40 "toy".
Is the aldi one really better than a bugs3 or bugs6 though?
I got this drone last deal, and the camera won't work. I connect my phone to the drone wifi, open the app… and nothing. Flies great though!
Faulty camera.
You sure? My mate got the exact same drone on the last deal and he has the same issue
I have one before it won't record from the controller video button have to use the phone app.
So you can't even see image from phone app?
@superforever: No image :(
ordered from last deal, got the drone still waiting on the spare batteries.
Got mine a couple of days ago.. got it stuck high, high up in a tree today. Won't be buying another one :-)
Managed to retrieve the video via WiFi, though:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fe2s52gky4kvghe/drone-fixed.mp4?dl…
Are you allowed to fly it over a busy road?
ermm… When you're an experienced flyer like me.. sure!… :-)
Did you start the video with the controller or from the phone app? The one I have before it won't start recording with the button on the controller.
@superforever: Yeah it only starts from the app; camera buttons on the controller never worked.
Just bought one, hope it wasn't a mistake. Thanks OP
I have had a few bad experiences with LightInTheBox and won't shop with them again. Two out of three times the items have arrived later than the 40 working day delivery window (quoted as 6 - 33 days on checkout, not sure why). Once I was overcharged and couldn't get any refund. Customer service has provided long responses but are next to useless.
I was warned the first time on OzB about long delivery windows and didn't listen - didn't think it was possible for a package in 2017 to take longer than 40 working days to arrive.
The products have been as expected when they did arrive though, and I'm sure other people have been luckier than me - but I'm over them.
I've posted this before and will probably post 1 more time so it doesn't become spammy.
I tried ordering the spare batteries on Ebay. It went through customs and got rejected. Apparently there is a strict law in shipping batteries to Australia.
Where did you guys buy the spare batteries?
Garjurn… do you get a refund in this situation?
I have this drone on order atm and was going to place an order for extra batteries from Ebay in the meantime… now that you say this, I'm not sure.
will you get refund if Aus customs detains your products?
Customs really need to pull the stick out of their A.
I did get a refund. the seller was very honest about the customs.
Ended up buying from another ebay seller. It got delivered successfully.
Has the price gone up now? I get $44.99 USD (~ 57 AUD), with no free shipping option.
Thanks.
Mine arrived today. The small gear on one of the motors has gone missing (common problem) so I waiting for a spare parts shipment.
Got this drone for a similar deal. Heli person here so it was first drone and was a great good bang for dollar pick. Have a very high roof and used it to check my gutters. Ordered a bug3 for 2nd drone, still coming in post.
