Interesting article regarding the drop in GoPro's share price, and GoPro's decision to drop their unit prices. Possibly in attempt to attract people to buy their products?

+1 on the Yi4kplus! Great camera for a fraction of GoPro's price.
The only issue here is if you move to the yi4k, will all of your go pro accessories like poles/sticks and housings work with it?

so because so many companies make accessories for gopros they fit the Yi4k.

i have purchased gopro accessories for my yi4k cam.
it mounts as easily to a helmet as a gopro
quality product? it has a better sensor in it and better battery life lololololololol
Could you point me in the direction of where I could get one for a decent price? Most I've seen appear to be able $295 for which I'd be more comfortable getting the gopro session 5 for 299.

GoPro is essentially a fashion brand, not a technology company. You should be aware of the risks in investing in something based around consumer popularity.
AFAIK they built a drone that failed miserably and recalled it, so that will cost them.
I doubt they'll drop the price significantly. IMO they'll start bundling products to get you into the gopro space
They hit the market huge with high quality products, far superior to the rest of the market for a long period of time. Everyone that had a use for a GoPro bought one. Fast forward a few years and they are no longer the market leaders. Everyone that had a use for the product either still has it and no need to upgrade or are now looking for cheaper/better alternatives. GoPro got lazy and have few options left to stay relevant. Lower Prices, Improve Product or Pivot. Lowering their price is the easiest move, but it may be too late to be a viable option.

Also, product distinction was video quality and form factor. (which is why TV shows like mythbusters used them in high risk areas).
I'm not convinced a general user needs 4k video. (or even more in future product generations)
I bet GoPro is losing hundreds of millions of dollars per year primarily because of the money they're spending on advertising and promotion. Have a look at any action sports event. You will see GoPro advertising. Meanwhile their Chinese competitors have caught up in quality and are avoiding the advertising tax.
I'm thinking GoPro will be the next Nokia or Blackberry
