wow.. made it to ozb on top of front page :) thanks guys.. I am pumped to wipe all other post.. :).

A true Ozbargainer wouldn't buy these, and instead would just use reusable cloths or cheap toilet paper with bleach on it.

Seems like a horrendously costly way to clean to me!

Disinfectant cleaning wipes should be banned for routine cleaning. Promotes bacterial resistance.

please elaborate so that we know you are not just bullshitting, you might as well say soap should be banned or alcoholic disinfectant hand gel should be banned, what ingredient in the day to day cleaning wipes promotes bacterial resistance that you are trying to ban?

Really, the product advert says it all: "kills 99.9% of germs". The surviving 0.1% are going to breed a more resistant strain of the bugs.

        • The surviving 0.1% are going to breed a more resistant strain of the bugs.

Not necessarily. Your claim is true if, and only if, the 0.1% survived because they were the same species as those that died, yet were more able to resist the chemical than their dead comrades.

Two examples where killing 99.9% will not breed super-resistance:

          1. The .1% survived purely because the chemical didn't touch them. Like alcohol hand wash - it kills every damn thing it touches, there's no way for the bugs to survive if it touches them, but you're not a surgeon following scrub procedures so you won't kill everything.

          2. The .1% is a different species. These say they kill E.coli, Salmonella, S.aureus, but maybe there's .1% of other things which aren't affected.

Of course, your claim may well apply to these wipes, I couldn't find their active ingredient, but killing 99.9% does not always breed resistance.

I refuse to buy these since they changed from a tub to a packet. We use these infrequently and once opened the wipes in the packet dry out whereas those in the cylindrical tubs don't.

50%+ saving is great, but for us it's not ideal when you have to throw out most of the packet because they've dried out.

    • These are now coming with hard plastic seal/covering/flap lock which helps not to dry.

IGA have the 120 pack of Dettol wipes on special too for $5.

Make sure you don't flush wipes :) I know these are more for the kitchen but some would clean bathroom and throw them in the toilet

  • soap and water same same
