Is it ok trolling with band 28 ?

    • Any eneloops?

    • +3

No band 28, but I believe it supports NFC for payments.

  • +24

If you are a true Xiaomi fan you will not buy this. Simply because you won't have any money left to put in it.

    • +1

After the built in card skimmer takes all your money you mean :P /s

      • Smart gateway will turn all the lights off once the wallet is empty so you can save up for the xiaomi smart tombstone.

        • Also automatically sets the sound to "Cha-Ching"

        • Does the zigbee occupancy sensor connect to the tombstone at range greater than 6 feet?

        • +2

          @quick-dry:
I suspect there is a bit of a dead spot at that distance

  • +1

Hi OP, any link to the actual deal? :)

    • +1

Restored the link - uploading the picture wiped the link

  • +16

Does it have a zippered compartment for all my bitcoins?

  • Good wallet and good price. I paid US$20.10 through AliExpress.

EDIT: also, this does support NFC, for those wondering.

    • is it slim or fat?

      • Slim, by comparison to a LOT of wallets I've had a look at. Very happy with how slim it is (had to give a few away to rellies because I hated how fat they were when they arrived from AliExpress…)

    • Can you elaborate on the supports NFC part? So can I store my credit card and/or opal digitally on the wallet without physically carrying them in the wallet or something?

      • +4

Sure. There's no RFID shielding, so an NFC-containing card inside can be tagged as if it's outside the wallet.

EDIT: Sorry to be misleading in my original comment, I was more being cheeky…

        • +1

in other words…. its a normal Wallet LOL

        • @scud70: well if you want to get technical! :P

        • @sqeeksqeek: well i didn't want to… but have to use the damn degree i spent years getting for something u know…

  • +4

    so what they don't make?

    • -1

      Connoisseur ice cream.

      • +3

        XiaoVanilli.

    • A dinosaur

      • Rooooar…

        • I think I saw a Chinese Chicken… that was shaved down to the skin, painted with a green-lizard texture, and had a Xiaomi tattoo.
It was for sale as the Misaurus, but wasn't local stock.

        • @Kangal: Where can I buy thus Misaurus?

        • @dtpearson:
Only online, but its Out of Stock and there's no word when the back order arrives.
I did like the Limited Edition RedmiSaurus… but that's sold out too :(

Still waiting for the day wallets become obsolete eg. Opal cards/paywave/ID License are stored on mobile.

    • +10

They will never be obsolete, especially if you're an iPhone user and with CBA, NAB or Westpac…

    • +1

The global wallet cartel will never allow this to occur.

    • Only a matter of time I still think, QLD was trialing the license I believe.

      • +3

Cop: Can I see your licence?
Driver: Sorry officer, my battery has gone flat.

Cop: Can I see your licence?
Driver: Sorry officer, my battery has gone flat.

Cop: Just a sec, I'll grab my Xiaomi power bank.

          @Scab: Xiaomi your licence!

      • QLD was trialing the license I believe.

        Nope, NSW.

      • Why would we need a license like this?

They already do it extremely well. It's a chip in your license that basically just lets them connect your physical being to their records. Very good. Very bad for our privacy.

You'll be waiting a long time. The security of owning a wallet AND an online account is much, much stronger than either one alone.

Even in South Korea where this tech has been around for nearly a decade and is used in many, many places, they still recognise that no one's ready for digital only security.

Different countries have different rules with regards to what is allowed to be called "leather". AFAIK, in Australia it must be made of animal skin to be classified as leather, but in other countries this does not have to be the case. So "genuine leather" in China or the US may not mean what it does in Australia (as in, this may actually be man-made artificial leather). Which isn't a problem perse, as it can still look great and actually be stronger, provided the quality is good. Most if not all car leather is artificial nowadays.

    • +1

Can confirm mine is real leather. Performed the 'flame' test demonstrated to me by many Asian market sellers in my travels..

      • +1

the people in Hermes wouldn't do that test, must be dodgy AF

    • -3

There’s a high probability that leather from china comes from a dog or cat, so I tend to stay away from leather in general. Considering china supplies most of the worlds leather.

      • "high probability"? Dog skin/fur is actually quite rare and its physical properties are not comparable with cowhide. Besides for 23 bucks a wallet you will definitely not get anything that exotic. Stay away from whatever you want but please do some proper fact checking before telling it to others. PETA propaganda from 2014 doesn't count.

    • "Genuine Leather" is already the lowest tier of leather, even if it is real.

You could probably find a similar wallet at your local market

    • "Genuine Leather" isn't actually 'real' leather - it just needs to contain real leather. It's usually made from offcuts and leftovers of real leather, which get processed together and bonded using stuff like polyurethane.

It's definitely not as strong as full/top grain leather. It's cheaper and less durable. Look at motorcycle racing suits, if bonded leather was stronger, they'd be using it. That being said though, it's an adequate grade of leather for a wallet - go out to the shops and you'll find a lot of expensive brand name wallets are the same or worse quality.

  • let me hijack this…if not Xiaomi. What ones are good to have? Long ones or bifold? Which brand? Think we all need an ozbargain pack somedays. Eneloops for battery, Xiaomi for powerbank, light; Miele for vacuum…I am using rubber band as wallet atm…

    • +1

I have been using Allett for years now, not the cheapest, but good quality.

      Bellroy make excellent wallets

      • Heard negative things about the quality of the leather. Had a colleague purchase a travel wallet and it got scratched up pretty bad when he had to use it. He's not one to destroy things normally, so I don't think it's through mishandling…

    • Ettinger wallets. Made in UK. Excellent quality, very reasonable price and no fancy branding that shouts out.

      • Dude, you're bringing back bad memories for me. Mine was stolen a couple of years ago. It was definitely a very fine wallet.

        • Sorry to hear mate. What's stopping you from buying a replacement? I've seen a couple on eBay go on special from time to time.

        • @t25:

Can't justify the price as I had a higher income when I bought it compared to now :-( Mine was like this but with a coin pocket. I haven't seen them on ebay, but I suppose they would pop up occasionally.

        • @kahn: I got mine from pediwear when they had a father's day special. 10% off I think it was, and the massive depreciation of the GBP made for a very very attractive buy.

    • I've never had a wallet fail on me. They just get to the point where they just don't look as good and are too soft. That's usually after 5-10 years even with a cheap leather wallet.

Currently got a Samsonite wallet and it's fantastic, I guess they are more on the pricey side though.

    Where do I put coins?

  • +1

    Hi OP, it's me 😊

  • +2

This actually looks very good, Xiaomi taking over

    • +1

I am sure, soon Xiaomi will make coins as well..

      • I wonder what Best Korea thinks about Xiaomi…

  • still waiting for my last order from 2nd of december from gearbest

    • still waiting for my order from november

    • +1

Did you choose free shipping? If so, it's up to 28 business days. With all of the public holidays recently, I'd say you probably have another week or week and a half to wait.
A tip when using Gearbest is check the cost of the shipping upgrades. Sometimes it can add just a few cents to halve the shipping time.

  • -3

One day you'll only be allowed to buy Xiaomi products. The Chinese are working on it don't be fooled

  • -2

I heard this international model doesn't have Band 28, and is a bit laggy… but will it get updates in the future?

  • Ehh, don't need a wallet atm. Expecting another deal in another ~3 years.

  • Nice deal. My current wallets is of average age - it is quite old, but continually gets new holes due to it being a habitat for various species.
