  • Got new battery for my iPhone 6S for free from apple store, but I don’t see any improvement in speed, not slow either. Anyway I think it’s better to get a new battery to avoid any reduction in speed in days ahead

  • I find it hard to believe apple, how the hell does a new battery improve performance, the new battery is not imputing any more voltage than a crap battery, the only difference would be how long the battery stays charged for.
I reckon this is a ploy to get people to spend money on an over supply of redundant batteries.
    Shame Apple shame.

    • Can you explain the shut downs of phones due to older batteries then?

      • Not sure if this is the real reason, but this is what Apple says:
        https://www.apple.com/iphone-battery-and-performance/

      • Sure, how many iPhone6’s do you know of that shut down, we have 8 of them and none of them shut down. Not one of them have battery wear but they are all slow to the shit house. Changing the battery will not improve voltage. If the battery had a dead cell I could understand replacing it and shut downs when the processor runs at 100% . I can’t see how replacing a perfectly good battery with a new one will increase performance it’s impossible.

    • The problem is that old batteries simply couldn't keep outputting their designed voltage, so they used to shut off with 40%+ battery remaining. Other manufacturers put much larger batteries in their phones so that a couple of defective cells don't bring the whole system crashing down. Apple 'patched' it in software, slowing down the processor so the peak current being drawn was lower. That allowed them to keep selling phones with under-spec batteries which can't maintain the required voltage for a full year and avoid a heap of warranty returns.

  • I still have my jailbroken 9.3.3 iOS for my iPhone 6s plus (or was it a 6? Can't remember) and it doesn't feel laggy at all. Is it only after iOS 10 where it starts to have power management . If I decide to replace battery would they update the firm ware as well?

    • Perhaps ask Apple since they're the ones doing it?

  • For those of you that might be concerned about Apple doing dishonest things- perhaps you should watch this YouTube video https://youtu.be/WJGp_fgl_VU about Samsung!

    • +2

So people shouldn't be concerned about Apple doing dishonest things because… Samsung?

  • How much would it cost to replace my iPhone X battery in 12 months? better start saving!!!
