My Sister has the G6 & Likes it a lot, she used to use iphones but I told her Android was better and now she agrees :)

    • any opinion on Windows phone?

      • +7

        "Windows phone's dead, baby, Windows phone's dead…"

        • +2

the blueberry muffins were great though

      • +2

I still use my lumia 950xl but yes don't bother investing on windows anymore. My next phone will be android.

        • +2

          wait, what is this!

        • +1

@Savas: if that's real, your getting my hopes up real quick :)

      • +4

Lol I still use a windows phone I think the 530 LMAO and it's good in a way for basic things but everything else is annoying

        • +2

Yea, agree. I have been using the $40 Lumia 532 for like 6 months as my temp phone.

The size is good and the OS is really smooth, but they don't have the apps I use. Cons are the camera and screen resolution, well it is only $40 anyway.

    • That's unusual.

  • +2

Any LG v20 in stock for special price.

    • +3

      Hi Kingdubber,

LG V20 is in stock, link. Thanks

      • +3

Hi, thanks for the reply. Was also hoping for around the $400 Mark.

        • +2

Honestly, the LG V20 is still worth it for the fact that it has a modern SoC (QSD 820) and it keeps the features of a removable battery and microSD card. It's the only device on this category. The last device before that was the Samsung Note 4, but it has an obsolete (QSD 805) SoC on that.

However, the LG G6 isn't actually much of a comparison to the SGS8, but more of a competitor to the SGS7.
Between the S7 and the G6, I recommend the G6.
However, the LG G6 at $560 isn't much of a bargain… the OnePlus 5t for $608 is the (slightly) better deal.
Or just wait a couple months, and the SGS9 will be out, forcing to reduce the price of the S8, which will force competitors to lower theirs further. The new chip is a big improvement over the old one, just like upgrading from the QSD 810 to the QSD 820, or from the QSD 600 to the QSD 800… so keep that in mind.

    • +1

It'd be $518.22 with the Punch code. Not as low as it has been, but I'd still prefer that for the B&O tuning, removable battery and better sensor. This one is for those who leave them on coffee shop/bar tables or drop them in the loo…

      • +2

LG V20 in Shopmonk is $400.

        • Ty. They seem to have the reputation of having a curl in the middle of their forehead tho. I'm always a bit wary of dealing with a company that claims to be Australian, but offers their own warranty rather than the manufacture's.

        • +2

@terrys: they are grey import. Aren't they from Singapore?

        • +1

@harkoliar: Yep,but describe themselves as "Shopmonk Australia and use a *.au web address. I've become sensitised to weasel claims over the years…

    • +1

I was looking for this today too! Older model though so I'd be hoping for sub $400 as previous deals in the past

  • I wish the G6 was coming from mobileciti.. Been waiting to pull the trigger on a phone

    • +1

But…this is from Mobileciti? Service wise you still go through the Australian store, independent of the fact you're getting it from their eBay shop

      • Is there a reason for the secondary store w/ different name? Can a rep speak in on this or? I did suspect them both being mobileciti, its just being sure you're gonna get the same service.

EDIT: Nevermind, See comment below mine -.- Lucky I didn't listen.

    • +7

      dfaktz u on about?

  • +3

The link to the LG G6 in the description goes to the wrong allphones listing, not the mobileciti one.

    • +2

      Thanks, fixed

      • Might wanna update price too.

        Thanks for the post.

        • +9

Thanks, also fixed lol. Sorry think I am still hungover from a party yesterday night

  • Is this or V30 better for those that have done research?

    • +1

V30 better but around twice price.

      • +2

Also V30 is suffering from some QC issues…. mainly the screen banding, wifi connection dropping after 5 mins, face unlock not working properly, bad front camera, rear camera force switching from Ultrawide back to regular.

Quite widespread and sad. It's the same tale with the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL. Good phones, annoying problems. The price just makes them un-recommendable for most buyers.

        • +2

One thing that i found really annoying with the V30 is that occasionally when I press the button to take a picture (using the back cam), the phone will take 0.5 to 1 second to refocus itself before snapping. The "moment" could be lost due to this delay. I personally have the Note 8 and it takes pictures without delay every time and focus is almost immediate. This is a deal breaker for avid mobile phone photographers

  • Pulled trigger on G6, anyone have case suggestion? Thoughts on https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-G6-G6-Plus-Case-Genuine-SPIGE… ?

(Must have pasted wrong link above :/) God I've made this thread ugly.

    • +1

I have this exact case, it is pretty good, has already absorbed some light drops with the rubber at the top / bottom of the case.

      • +1

        Thanks mate. I'll grab it.

    • i use this case Haven't changed since :) Awesome case!

keeps the phone slim but very durable! dropped it quite a few times and nil damage

  • +1

I got this mobile via the last Mobileciti deal, keep in mind that you are giving up wireless charging for Hi-Fi recording with this model.

  • +3

A couple of things to keep in mind if your an enthusiast:

This is the Korean Model which has a locked boot-loader so no possibly of custom roms (if that is your thing or support runs out).
Security Updates are pretty regular but still on Nougat.
I use Nova Launcher and it does lag while swiping through menus, nothing woeful but very noticeable coming from a pixel and Nokia 8.
On that note as well Android Auto has issues time to time which I never encountered on any other phone.

LG's software is pretty bloaty and you'll want to disable a lot of the apps upfront. Its enough of a concern to make me want to consider a OnePlus 5T.

On the plus side the price, DAC, Camera and screen size are fantastic in my opinion.

Happy to answer any questions if your considering one, they are very well priced in market.

    • +2

I have one of these, some of your points are valid but I'd have to disagree about bloat. Of course compared to a pixel it is quite bloaty, but realistically the LG firmware is pretty spot on.

This is an exceptional phone for the price, though this deal is a bit more expensive than the cheapest it has been :)

      • +2

It depends on your perspective, LG has a lot of services running in the background, root checker, lg connectivity services, health diagnostics, smart doctor etc. These in my mind contribute to bloat and although the software itself has a few proprietary LG apps, I still find it annoying. But this is from someone who has bought only Nexus, Pixel and Motorola Phones in the past. People who have used Samsung phones and other devices in the past, may not find it as bad. That's why my post mentioned as targeting enthusiasts:

        Disabled Apps for reference:

Evernote, Facebook App Manger, Facebook, Lg Friends, LG Friend Manger, LG Health, LG Music, LG Smartworld, Broadcast, LG Switch, Quick Memo+, LG QUick Memo + Launcher, Remote Call Services, Tasks, and several background services.

        • +1

Thanks for the list, will be very handy when mine arrives.
Do you personally just disable through standard settings or is there another way/app you use?

These are probably better pre-purchase questions than post, but do you generally get a good day out of the battery?

I was using the Google launcher on my Dead Nexus 5X this was replacing but there definitely was some lag, I'll probably stick to the stock launcher on this but just throwing it out there incase you had tried it yourself.

        • +2

          @dfaktz:

You can disable (most) apps through the Settings without much hassle, to disable services like lg connectivity services, cell broadcasts & root checker you need to use adb and the 'pm disable' command. If this is too involved you could also just use an aftermarket launcher to hide the apps.

Battery life isn't great but its a lot better than the Nexus 5X. Overall it gets me through the day and I usually get screen on time around 4-5 hours. I'm not a heavy user however so your mileage may vary.

Having owned a Nexus 5X, I can tell you the lag isn't comparable. The LG G6 stutters constantly in UI elements while the 5X would lag only time to time in apps or when memory was low.

I have tried Action Launcher, GEL, Google Launcher, Pixel Launcher, Pixel Launcher (mod), Nova Launcher and a few others. All suffer from micro stutters when scrolling through pages or accessing the Google Now feed. Scrolling particularly suffers. I used my friends Moto X4 and realised how big of a difference it was.

This isn't a deal breaker of-course, I never really have to wait too long and the UI is generally stable, but it reminds me how un-optimised software can be outside Google and the few OEM's which target optimisation. In the case of LG it feels like this was an afterthought.

        • +1

@Haxxa: Much appreciated you took the time to do that writeup!.

It is a little worrying though with what you've said; considering I brought my Nexus 5X like 15months ago for $345 and the LG G6 I thought would be worlds apart with release date and the much higher pricepoint. Hmm :/

        • @Haxxa: Any reply worthy of my comment bro?

      • So the cheapest it has ever been was $467.49, so $90 for local warranty. Anyone know how long is the warranty?

        • +2

          2 years.

    • +1

Has there been any volume controlled blind tests between this phone and any other?

Because $2 Audio codecs in PCs rate the same as DACs in $70,000 audio systems meaning no one could tell them apart in blind tests.

      • There are a few tests on youtube (but not the best benchmark for differentiation) however you can turn the 32 bit DAC off and on in software, and there is a noticeable difference esp. on high impedance cans.

        • +3

Of course, just like the noticeable differences when listening to a PC audio codec or a high quality DAC - if it isn't blind it doesn't mean anything, you will literally hear better quality if you know it's better quality.

        • Sure but it sometimes disables itself randomly and next time I play music I can tell the difference. Even if its a placebo its nice having a manufacturer include a 3.5mm jack and put some semi decent audio processing in it.

    • +2

Good point about the locked bootloader

Unlocking the Bootloader will only be supported on selected devices.

  • Thanks, likely to get the G6. Can you do deal on matching case?

    • Hi browser,

Sorry we currently do not have any cases for the G6. Thanks

  • how does this compare to a note 8?

  • `LG G6 is a great phone, but Samsung S8 is better (just).Received S8 as work phone and looking to sell my G6, what would be a reasonable price to offer? Phone is in almost mint condition.

  • The wide angle on the main camera is pretty amazing from what I've researched.

    • It is amazing. Wider than the LGV30 when I compared it in JB HiFi

    • Yep. It is the best thing about this phone and made those big family Christmas photos a lot easier this year.

    • Yeah, it is fantastic best implementation of dual camera's on any phone full stop.

  • No deals on a Huawei smartwatch??

    • Hi Youngboy,

Sorry currently no specials on Huawei Watches. Thanks for your interest though, I'll take note of it make sure to let you know if we do have any specials in the future.

  • Still $559.20? It's been this price since March/April when I purchased one. Great phone! Definately worth it but for another 100 more you can get a Oneplus 5T

    • Not for Australian model from local store with 2 years warranty.

  • I previously owned the LG G4 (before it inevitably boot-looped…) and have to say the camera was absolutely amazing.
Is the LG G6 an improvement from that?

    • +1

Yes, wide angle is fantastic and overall cameras are great check out some reviews for comparison.

    • +1

The G6 is a slight improvement in image quality over the G4. 2 generation newer is a big help, but LG decided to cheap out on the main camera sensor so the jump in image quality isn’t as big as it should have been. The wide angle second lens they add is a nice feature.

What security update is the G6 currently on?

    • +1

Back facing cameras are great, much better than G4.
Front facing cameras are disappointing though. LG never really pay much attention to front facing cameras, you wont see much improvement over the G4. Face comes out all blurred, unless you dont mind looking like a blowup doll.
Wide angle cameras on the G6 is the main selling point for me as I take more landscape views.

  • Hi Rep, any dual-sim phones in the $300 range? Thank You.

    • Hi Symo,

Dual Sim phones around $300 include:

      Huawei Y7
      Motorola Moto G5 Plus / G5S
      LG Q6
      OPPO A77 / OPPO R9

      Thanks

  • Does it come with B&O play earphones?

    • +1

      Hi theaussieinhk,

The LG G6 does not come with B&O Earphones, it comes with LG earphones. Only the V20 comes with B&O Play earphones. Thanks

  • +1

    Hi OP
Could you please bring back the LG V20 deal, checked Mobileciti sold history, it was $505, now it's $575.
Are you able to reduce to $505.
    Thanks

  • How much tax on the G6 we claim with TRS?
