Tech21 Phone Cases 50% off (Eg iPhone X/8 & Samsung S8/S8+/Note 8 EVO Check for $24.98), Also Screen Protectors - JB Hi-Fi

570

These things are definitely overpriced when they retail for $50, but at $25 odd they become much more worthwhile.

Here's one review

Screen protectors are also 50% off (I'm personally not keen on them)

Good Deal. But just bought a Spigen Rugged Armor Case for the Note 8 for $16 using the 20% off eBay Sale.

    • Link from the seller you bought off please :)

    • +2

You’ve talked me into the spigen rosrav 😁

    • Sorry what 20% off deal please?

      • The 20% of electronics sale using the "POWERUP" Promo code. It ended yesterday night unfortunately. But I would still recommend this case and seller. I had this case on my galaxy S6 for 2yrs. Kept it looking brand new, with no scrathes, chips or cracks to the phone.

        • Can still use 10% off Punch although you'll need to spend min $75

    • was at my localJB yesterday. few of each left. looked at them closely,
bit soft and rubbery. simple design. relatively heavy and thick. old tech.
definitely crazy to pay rrp, prefer spigen.

Tech21 are my fave cases, I highly recommend them.

    Good price

I was looking at the Tech 21 wallet but really poor reviews

      • I've not used the wallet, but I don't like wallet cases.

I use the Pure Clear. I find it a very good compromise between thin and protective. I've tried extreme thin case and screens still got cracked. In this case it stays pretty much as-new.

Not in love with the Tech21 evo check I have on my Galaxy s8 - side buttons hard to press and is super chunky. People don't even realise it's an s8 as looks like a massive bezel. Recommend Spigen cases I've seen on others

    • +3

      Agreed, Spigen are great.

    • +1

Definitely agree with the button issue on the S8. Strangely enough on the S6 it wasn't an issue, nor is it on the iPhone X…

Bezels are bigger than a standard case. For some reason I find the bezels more pronounced on the iPhone X than the S8. Either way, I guess that's how they claim 3m drop protection. There is a Pure Clear version with "only" 2m drop protection, narrower bezels etc. However I was worried about the infinity screen edge protection, and the clear cases that tend to yellow and scratch over time.

Fortunately it does provide good screen edge protection on the S8 if it happens to drop infinity screen edge down

For $50 it's not of good value but the iPhone 8 Evo case retails for $21.99 at Costco if you have membership

  • The rubberised ones are very good for drop protection (with the orange stuff around the inside)- I had one on an iPhone 5s for 2 years and it saved me a few times. That being said, they're pretty thick, so I've been using the Apple leather case lately to minimise the old pocket bulge.

The orange stuff I think D3O and is getting hard to find again in the phone cases. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D3o

I'm looking at getting a dbrand Grip case via indiegogo for my OP5 that has D3O in it.

Out of all the phone cases I’ve owned I’ve never smashed a screen on a Tech21 case so have no issue paying extra for the protection.

  • Love my Tech21's for iPhone. Been using them since the iPhone 5.
    Awesome price!!

  • Does anybody know if the edge to edge screen protector for S8+ is compatible with genuine samsung flip case?

  • Still overpriced

  • i still dont understand why people buy phone cases from shops and don't just use ebay and get them for sweet f a

    • +1

as someone who's done both, there can be quite a difference between what you get from eBay (especially the Chinese no-name brands). I find that it's hit and miss (mostly miss), especially with the ultra cheap ones. I used to get cases ONLY from eBay (I like cases) because they were cheap… and then the thought hit me - I've spent $1k on a phone… I can't spend $20, or even $50 to protect it properly?

Having said that, some of the more expensive ones could still be crap, so I do a bit of research before buying. In this deal for example, the wallet case for the S8 plus (which is what I wanted to get) have horrible reviews all around - https://www.amazon.com/Tech21-Evo-Wallet-Case-Galaxy/product…

tl;dr - because it's sometimes worth it to spend $20-50 to protect a $1k phone and cheap =/= good protection.

  • So people who use these cases don't put tempered glass screen covers on?

I got a Spigen s8 cover off ebay for 16.99, and as much as it feels nice, I dont think I would trust it without a glass screen.. (in saying that I just tried a nuglas screen on it, and it barely functions clicks when i press, and need to hold press most of the time - really disappointing)..

    • I think the problem with these tempered glass protectors for the Infinity screens is that the adhesive is at the edges only, not the flat part. Once the case goes on it squeezes the protector and lifts the flat part of the screen.

I've been using a plastic adhesive protector. However I've just ordered a tempered glass one that only covers the flat part. I'll give that a go…

      • ahhh right… how annoying.. let us know how it goes..

im literally about to take mine off as the phone is barely usable.

      • any update on the flat tempered glass protector mate?

        • Received it, but it cracked even before I put it on. I've ordered another….

        • hahaha… classic..

$50 for a screen protector? LOL

  • In a possible error of judgement at 3am this morning, I bit the bullet and got the note 8 wallet. Can report back whether it was a dud decision or not later this arvo, going to collect it now.

    • Well I just got the case and happy to report that my judgement at 3am did not waiver the slightest. My A-game bargain spotting was bought to the table once again. The case is not overly bulky and buttons easy to press as they are built into the case (not holes where you have to try jam your finger in). Still charges using the Samsung wireless pad which my previous cover didn't. I actually like the material as it offers some grip instead of the slippery bar of soap when naked. The only downside I've noticed so far is it only barely fits two credit cards in the pockets without struggling to close the flap.

  • Since JB was out of stock at my local i went to HN who price matched the S8 case for me. Seems good but the power button is a bit hard to get it to work. Nothing terrible though. The other buttons are fine.
