you forgot to mention that it automatically upgrades on the 1/12/10 without any fees, saw it there too :)

  • If you sign up to the Fusion 129, normally $129, but with this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/31244, it's $99 then you will essential be on a 1TB for $99 a month. Must do this before Dec 1 though.

    Credit to Dussk.

    • Just signed up for this. Apparently tomorrow 30th Nov is the last day to get the $30 discount but who knows. $99 for 1TB (essentially unlimited for my needs), line rental included, unlimited calls within Aust land and mobile. Too good to pass by.

    • I have the fusion 129 dollars plan (99 after 30 dollars discount) and I should thank God that discount was added from the first bill. Else the customer support earlier said, I can get a $ 129 bill for the first month.

Hope, I will get the 1Tb data, though looks pretty big. Even 50gb was like, what else, I should watch and download.
More space means more use of torrents ;)

    • I was on the fusion 129 with a discount and noticed now i am on 1TB , is this permament? I am incriedibly impressed!

-Sory for the spelling i am just overjoyed right now and so gobsmacked at this!

      • Definitely Permanent!

Don't think I will ever use 1TB… think I need to upgrade to the speedpack to actually use even 80% of the 1TB

        • yea, u r right. As we can get foxtel on xBox or play online gaming or view online channels or youtube.
so at last its the user, who is going to be benefited :)

  • +2

:( no changes to the $50 120gb plan

    • +3

:( I'm on that plan too

      • Same here and I just regretted like you. but after a close look at it. 120 GB is enough for me. So :)

        • -2

Its Bullcrap that there not upgrading this plan I'm on it also and like it cause minimal cost $50 not willing to shell out $70…!!

        • We somehow manage to use the full 120GB every month :)

YouTube + internet radio + Second Life = 120GB (hey if I had 500GB I could turn up my draw distance and easily use it)

    • One more… :-(

  • Oh whoa im getting myself a fusion plan. Heavy phone and internet user, this is perfect.

  • I am currently on TPG 49 a month. I would like to do a 69.99 phone bundle… I was thinking of changing from the 49 to 69 home phone bundle with TPG, but they said it would take about 3 to 4 weeks just to get it connect.. I dont want to wait that long.. so i want to know if I change to Optus how long does it take to get the phone and the internet connected??

    • If you are not with Optus, they take atleast 2 weeks to start a connection.
First confirm, if Optus can provide you broadband in that region.

    TPG ADSL 2 bundle

    $29.99 500 GB - shaping speed 1Mbps (+$30 landline)

I have tried to match price this deal to optus customer service - they gave up! LOOOOOOOOOOL

After 4 years with optus, I'm on TPG now

    • TPG ADSL2 is not Cable..
TPG Home phone is not an actual land line…

They're not the same things. Why would they price match?

      • What do u mean it's not a home land line? What is it then?

        • Voip

      • I pretty sure optus phone over their cable infrastructure also uses some form of voip. I would have gone with TPG's home package as it works out cheaper ($60 phone + net + maybe $30 for unlimited voip? pennytel's crazy talk is < $20) except for the following reasons:

        1. As an existing TPG customer, they made it extremely difficult to get the new plans. IMO, they are punishing loyalty so I took my business elsewhere.

        2. TPG home phone is flakey as from what I've seen reported on WP. Not being able to port a number over for over a month is unacceptable.

        3. Having to waive my CSG rights. Again, phone is important to me for incoming calls so not an option.

        4. Charging for unconnected calls. I hope this is just a BIG mistake, but the TPG rep did say that you are charged as soon as the other phone rings but has retracted that now! http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1584957

      • -1

TPG offer both VOIP and Home Phone lines.

        The differences are described here.
        http://www.tpg.com.au/homephone/FAQ.php#1.3

On that plan that medium_tight mentioned it is a copper pair ('actual land line') for $30 extra.

        • +1

It's actually a copper line back to the exchange and voip from the exchange onwards for the TPG home phone line. That's why it doesn't support fax or back to base alarms. I had confirmation from a TPG rep on whirlpool. Just search it up there.

        • Trance N Dance - I'm interested in the whirlpool thread as I just ordered this line and the quote below (from a TPG forum administrator) is what I am lead to believe - can you link me to the thread? I tried searching but couldn't find the page you are referring to.

          On http://forum.tpg.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=29710 it states:
"With the new Unlimited ADSL2+ and Home Phone plan, is the home phone a Land Line or is it VOIP?
->1.1. How reliable is TPG’s Home Phone Service?
TPG Home Phone is delivered via TPG’s own network infrastructure, where the call is not carried over a broadband connection but rather, like conventional telephony, is carried directly over the copper pair between the customer premises and TPG switching equipment. "

I think it may be ULL? And TPG just don't provide the fax/alarm services on that line.

        • Sorry can't find the link but I was looking it up when I was about to move houses 4 months ago and unfortunately whirlpool only keeps track of your posts for 120 months

          edit:
but this should soon be responded to and clarify things.
          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1550026

        • Thanks for looking anyway. I will find out! :)

      • -3

HAHAHA …you just made my day … TPG is VOIP! for sure? HAHAHAHAHA

        • Ha?

  • just upgraded =)

  • ‘just found these replies, at the end of the WP thread; I guess NOT ALL OptusNet Internet users have reason to be happy, as yet… some are demanding that Optus help “advance AU fair” in Internet pricing:

Sample Reply 1 (from thread page 19):

“Hi Ian could you answer these for me. My brother has a personal plan on the old optus $99 fusion plan. Free landline, free mobiles to any gsm mobile, 20gb data download only counted. He gets shaped back when he reaches his download limit. Does he qualify for any of this. If he doesn’t which plan should he swap for which would still remain price wise the same or lower but still give him unlimited mobile calls to ANY gsm mobile.

As for my case i have the old optus $99 fusion plan with same allowance but am on the business plan. Please give us business owners some good news too. Thanks”

    Sample Reply 2:

    “Ian Thomson writes…
…many of our existing Cable & DSL Direct plans…

OK Optus, but what about the ~$80 / month “girly deals” that attracted naive new-to-Internet users… at ~4GB (with some phone services)…

I know someone who had to pay heaps in excess fees, because they didn’t know Optus had raised the quota – a bit – to ~7 GB (for others paying the SAME $$$, who bought the SAME plan a little later… Optus never bothered to inform them of their “option” to ring & request the same quota increase).

While the geeky Whirlpool can (perhaps rightly) cheer when big quota jumps are seen, those “little guys” are still paying heaps for way too little, by comparison.

I -won’t- be joining other Whirlpool cheerleaders, ie, unless / until Optus makes it permanent policy to address the inequity inherent in such “girly plans” BOTH by

1.making ALL [non-wireless] (eg, DSL & cable based) Internet data costs pretty close to the same low $ / GB rate, even when Internet comes in “girly plans”; AND

2.any improvements for SOME (eg newer customers) automatically apply to ALL, by default; AND

3.you send ALL customers a courtesy eMail to let them know that their plans got a little sweeter (I wouldn’t mind if you also promoted higher-end plans, in the same eMail).

(BTW, some of those (what I call) “girly plans” are used by artists muso’s & other creative people, et al. already squeezed – in recent years – by the GEC, often living in “share accommodation” to help them squeek-by…)

I know that – in France – Au $45 buys MUCH more (including unlimited Internet, & when I see how poorly the above-cited Optus ~$80 “girly plan” compares, I see undue & even harmful INJUSTICE.

Fix that injustice, & I’ll be quick to join the Whirlpool chearing chorus… but not before.

    Thanks for listening…"

That guy there should immediately call up and change to the $129 fusion for $99, same price but 1 Terrabyte worth of downloads. I changed over just then :)!

"OK Optus, but what about the ~$80 / month “girly deals” that attracted naive new-to-Internet users… at ~4GB (with some phone services)"

Once again change over to the $129 for $99 if I were on the "girly deals". The value is too good to miss out on.

Do you realize how far we are from everyone else lol

  • Does Cable get any upgrades? im on the 150 Gig plan

    • +1

I took a look at the plan upgrade page, and only the 85/85 plan is upgraded. All other plans (50/70, 75/75, and that other small plan) are unaffected. So if you pony up another $10 per month, you get a heap more extra download.

  • Annoying that it's all on 24 month contracts… I've got home phone and internet with Optus but am not keen to be locked in for another 2 years.

    • Same position and same opinion - lock in for 2 years? ummmmm!

      Hard to justify

  • Just signed up for the fusion 129 @ $99/month. Offer ends today btw. And the sales rep confirmed that the data allowance would automatically switch to 1000gb as of tomorrow. So unlim homephone and 1tb for 99/month. Not bad.

  • Just signed up today too.

Now where am I gonna store 24TB of high def pr0n over the next 24 months?

        lol
everyone should buy stumo one so he can seed his own HD Pr0n torrent network - OzHardon?

  • Was on a 69.99 (170gb) + line rental deal (still under contract), gave them a call and changed to a $99 500GB deal with all the free calls, the net is more then enough and the unlimited calls beats the old $50 worth of calls I had.

  • Just called them and was told it wasnt available in my area (Cannington, WA). So I tried my brother's area (Nedlands, WA) and that wasnt available either.

The sales guy said that Optus isnt supported in a lot of areas in WA.

    Just a heads up :)

  • thanks ambiguous, just upgraded my old fusion 99 20gb to the new fusion 99 1tb. offer ends 2day, plan starts tomorrow, have reached 98% download limit.

    • ditto, just upgraded my cuz (before midnight) from old $99 20gb fusion to the $129 50gb fusion which after promo becomes $99 1tb fusion - he was so happy.

I was considering this for myself but dont have optus in my area. Fortunately I am on a special bigpond custom bundle myself - homeline plus with 50gb cable extreme for $59.95 (normally $89.95) so not in a hurry to jump off as I cant get it back if I change.

  • +1

Hi, i got the optus fusion $99 20gb with unlimited calls within australia including mobiles. Does mine get upgraded too?

    • from what i understand, it doesn't - you needed to upgrade to the 129 fusion by last night to get the deal for 99 per month (which included 1tb and a 30$ credit per month). Your option now is to swap over to the newer 99 fusion plan (which has a 15gb limit which is upgdrading to 500gb)…however if you have the older 20gb 99 fusion which included all calls to gsm mobiles then you need to think about whether the trade off is worth it, as the new 99 fusion does not include calls to all gsm mobiles (just optus ones)!
Please correct me if i am wrong.

      • no you are right about that, but i got lucky and called today and they still upgraded it to the $99 1000gb fusion with unlimited calls.

  • Can anyone find the 500gb plus mobile deals online because I can't!

  • holy crap these plans are awesome!

  • dam optus have come a long way in the past year. i Had the old 20/40 8Mbit plan for years.

Then they upgraded to 50/70 20Mbit at a cheaper price.

Now i can get 500GB for the same $$ as 60GB last year!!

  • i just went from 50GB a month to 1000GB (1TB) for free Mod:foul language!
