Plus import tax makes it not that great if it's over $1000
I think if the total not including shipping is under (AUD)$1000 then you don't have to pay import fees or GST.

The post from cwongtech has links to the borderforce website. Going off the borderforce info it seems like the value of the item determines the threshold not the shipping.Except they decide based on the exchange rate when the item arrives..not at the time of purchase..So if it is borderline it could go either way.
They decide the exchange rate on date of export not arrival.
However the rate they use becomes set in stone a few days later..Goods exported from a country by air
The rate of exchange to be used is the rate applying on the day that the aircraft departs the country of export.See here:

For me it's close enough just buy local from a cpl, msy or scorptec if you live near one as it would work out similar. (and if you buy from scorptec you can get it replaced on the spot if it is faulty)..
It can be purchased for ~$1089-~1099 locally.. (pickup)..not sure on delivery price
So it works out similar if you include something like a 3% international conversion fee. Except if you buy locally, it would be easier to deduct tax wise.
Personally, I'd rather get the sc2 for a bit extra.
Before ordering, I checked the price from ebay and msy. Only galax, gigabyte and MSI has the similar price. I heard about EVGA is a good brand, and the price of EVGA from Ebay is above 1200+AUD. Thus, I think it may be an acceptable deal.
Thanks a lot.
$1000+ for a 1080ti
lol no.
They've been quite a bit lower and next gen will come early next year.
The lower ones listed from memory didn't have an international warranty and they were a slightly lower quality blower.
There is always a next gen around every corner..That's the danger of buying anything currently top end.
Very true. I remember paying $950 for 780 ti only to find out the 980 was selling at a much lower price point just a few months later and on and on it goes. Its usually wise to buy the current GPUs round about the time the next gen starts rolling in
bought ftw3 for 1000aud delivered from amazon
been around that quite a few times only if the aud was a bit higher would have grabbed it ;).
good find for sure tho properly the cheapest 1080ti around this time
