No expert, but someone who has used quite a few different brands and models of these and had a decent look at the subject.
Long story short: there are two brands of portable Air Cons going around that are decent quality and actually really do the job in Aussie conditions: The Polocool 5kw + models and the Olympia PIU CUBE 16
      https://www.olimpiasplendid.com.au/piu-range/
      http://polocool.com.au/
This is one of the many underpowered Chinese rebadged jobbies that will be relatively pissweak for a few years then die.
Get one of those two above - the rest just don't cut it.

          He's royalty.

      • Even polocool 4.4kw is a decent air con for a bedroom I have a 4.4kw for the bedroom a 6kw and a 5.5kw polocool is definitely worth the price.

  • Hi Rep, how much stock do you have?

Is it weird that I saw Omega and I thought of watches right away? What have you done to me? lol

Does this need one of those long hoses. I'm after one in the upstairs bedroom where there is no air circulation and no windows

    • Yes, it will need a hose to vent out the hot air.

A cheaper solution might be to install an exhaust fan in the bedroom - it will then draw in cooler air to the bedroom from other parts of the house through negative pressure.

      • I'm renting

        • Isn't it against regulations to have no ventilation to a bedroom? Does it have a window?

        • @placard:

          It's an attic

      • Except it is upstairs, warm air goes up.

I'm not an expert but the reviews on this page aren't great.

As a side note, you're buying a product with a damaged box and that could represent it's been dropped or had other things dropped on it. This was the case with the last heater I bought last winter.

A "brand new" one on the site is $388 which is $39 more than the price that is was on the 24th of November last year. So whilst the product is cheaper with a damaged box a brand new one is actually more expensive.

how many damaged cartons do they have? if they don't have enough stock, do they smash some good ones to make sale? hmmm..

    • Was gonna ask the same question. Like how did they even have that many damaged boxes to begin with? Disgruntled (now) ex employee?

I got my mother in law one of these by Delonghi last year and she only has a small 2 bedroom flat. completely useless in cooling down the room. it works only if you are directly in front of it with the air blowing at you. otherwise, waste of time. invest in a split system.

  • Well my Lenovo T8 plus tablet came 3 weeks ago in a box with a 3cm scratch that was 1/4 of a cm deep and 1/2 cm wide. But no damage to the tablet.

For theses air-conditioning units. You can be pretty confident that there was a significant accident during trasit. Maybe even an insurance write off.
