  • A full lube service is around $80-100 at servo anyway so this is good deal if you like wash your car at least once month.

great deal. if only it was local

  • +6

are u going to get a coffee and muffin everytime

    • +9

Lol, I like your thinking… works out to 180 muffins and 180 coffees for only $79!

      • guys… u r being too optimistic!
Mechanics r known for being dodgy, remember?

    • +1 !!

love the idea of 180 muffins and 180 coffees

  • Unlimited washing and vacuuming for 6 months…..can go everyday :)

    • might as well

  • Wow. Unlimited washing and vacuuming - they better get some additional staff to handle that aspect…

If they do a decent job over the next 6 mths with the increased demand, this is one of the best I've seen on 1 day websites. A simple car service alone costs $80+ and a car wash $15+…

  • Did a quick google on their car wash and sounds like its decent so I just bought one. Thanks.

Bear in mind that the review you have linked to is probably a biased one.

There will be a catch, i bought a similar deal once and the "additional" things that needed fixing "immediately" pushed the price to like $700 even though these items didnt need changing for a while.

Be careful with these deals, if they are too good to be true than they usually are….

Why would they do all these things for $79 even if its for 1 service? You can hardly get some good oil and filter for $79 let alone car wash vacuum, coffee and muffin pffff.

    • Sage advice! At face value this appears to be an outstanding deal, but radem may right & they might try to pull a swifty! :o

Be firm if they try that kind of stuff on you, ask them for a written quote on said 'repairs' & tell them you'll think about it; just the agreed lube service will be fine for today, thank you…thank you! :p

Remember, just like Nancy Reagan says, "Just say NO!" ;)

    • But surely you can just say no to these "additional repairs"?
Or at least say you have no money on you and can't pay for anything else they do on top of what the voucher entitles you to.

  • +1

When you get your car washed it can come back smelling worse then befor u got it cleaned… THEY USE dirty rags to clean your car and it can end up selling like a toilet after! Best to clean your car yourself !

  • +3

But surely you can just say no to these “additional repairs”?

You can say NO, but most people won't because they make it sound like its a life & death situation.

Most people will get sucked in, that's the whole point of these kind of deals! been there done that :P

I bought a similar thing from this website a few days ago, it was for a car wash + detailing inside, worth $88 but the voucher deal was $39. I called up to book my car in and they asked if this is for "the voucher", I said "yes" and they said it will be a week until they can fit me in…I called again and this time I said I'm paying cash and they said that they could fit me in the next day! So make sure that you are going to get the same level of service as someone who isn't using a voucher. I mean, if they have different levels of waiting times, who knows if the your car will be cleaned differently too??

To jumponit's credit, when I complained, they issued me a full refund, they said that the store is not allowed to offer different levels of service like this and that that was part of their rules.

  • i'd avoid car places, my bf went to a normal care machinal for simple wheel aliment and found out a few months later that they slashed a rubber sock under the car which now require fixing. i hear this happens a lot, so you have to go back so they can rip you off somemore. if this happens when u are paying full pirce, i wonder what will happen if you are using a voucher?!?

    • I assume care machinal is a car mechanic

  • +2

They've sold over 1,100 of these and the voucher is valid for only 6 months.
At this rate they would have to service over 6 cars per day to honour them all.

    I have my doubts………………..

    • you didn't count the people who are going everyday ;)
potentially 1000 cars a day lol

      • I hope they know the muffin man…

  • I think Suttons is a Holden dealership. So I would expect better service and quality compared to the local service centre.

    • It says booking is essential, does this apply to car wash as well?

      • good thinking, maybe this is the TRICK!!!!!

  • wasnt suttons at gordon and they got shut down??

    • That's Sundell. Appears to be still around.

  • I got one voucher.
My parents actually being going to the dealership since they bought their holden.
They get free wash and vaccumm for the lifetime of the car which is pretty good. Quality of service has been quite good.
Considering its a dealership you wouldn't expect them to be too dodgy. You need to stick to your own reliable mechanic anyways. Our mechanic closed down recently. So, need to find a new one around rosebery area anyways.

  • Wow - half a years of car wash. That is cheap. Especially its summertime now.

  • +1

You'll to get the first wash together with the service - which is fair price on that alone. But given that already more than 1400 people already bought the coupon, and most likely to use within a month time - just around Xmas break, one have to wonder how they going to accommodate all of 1400+ cars within next 6 months, and people likely to book during weekend. Call me cynical but I doubt you would get more than 2 more washes with the time you prefer after the service.

  • dup

  • hmm, i can imagine it right now….on the left of the caryard, the 2 or 3 owners who paid cash, getting the personal hand wash & dry…on the right a whole row of about 50 'voucher' cars, the pimple faced teenager gets the high pressure hose and washes them all in one go! there must be a different level of service, the labour alone would kill their profit margin!
ps read the fine print, 'unlimited' washes probably has a clause saying something like "must be booked in advance" and the frequent voucher customers probably get the "sorry we're all fully booked until next month" after the first one!

I have had a very bad experience with suttons.

Albeit it was almost 10 years ago but i doubt they have changed.

After buying a car from them i received a fixed pric3e servicing plan which was priced quite reasonably but after the first service i checked the car over and it appeared they did not touch it, the oil was black filter dirty etc, anyway next time i took it to them I wrote my name and the date on the oil filter and checked before leaving the site and wouldn't you know it it there was my old oil filter with my name staring back at me after confronting them they said it must have been a mistake but i told him what happened the last time and he said impossible and than i had to fight them to get my money refunded for the service they did not do that day!

From than on i take it to my local mechanic who always does a great job and only to the dealer for warranty.

Suttons again tried to screw me by not wanting to replace under new car warranty a faulty fuel pump because i had my car serviced elsewhere and its only after a argument when they saw i knew the law that they backed down and did not charge for the warranty repairs. I have heard through someone i met who worked there that they have alot of corporate contracts and its not uncommon to get back on schedule they will just stamp the book and say the job is completed as well as trying to get customers to pay for warranty repairs as they than get paid twice for the job once from holden once from the customer, I dont think all holden dealers are like this but I am just speaking from my very bad experience with suttons.

This deal seems cheap and i would only use it for the car wash and muffins avoid their service dept like the plague.

    • I should note my bad experience was with Suttons at Arncliff not Roseberry.

  • LOL i have life time car wash after buying a 2nd hand car that was purchased from rosebury, i guess i wont be able to use their car wash service now lol

  • I was a bit concerned about the amount of people so I rang JumpOnIt and they gave me a full refund, +1 for this company.

  • One cant be careful enough when it comes to car mechanics….

I once got a company that come to your door to service your car, to service my car as my regular mechanic was busy and I was leaving a on a long trip and I had to get my car serviced. It was also advertised as fixed price and cheap… $129 or something at the time.

The guy rocks up, a pleasant young bloke, checks the car and says 5 different parts needs repairing/replacing…
saying you better get'em done before you go on a long trip!

Like a sucker I said yes and the total bill was just under $1000!!!!

I honestly believed what the guy said…. At my next service at my regular mechanic I inquired about the repairs and he laughed at me…. He said most of the parts would've survived another 5000k easily.

I know very little about cars anyway! My fault I guess.

  • My last wheel alignment was $66 (for about 45mins labour), and my last wheel balance was $22. The oil and filter are worth at least $25, plus labour. Not sure how the dealership plans on doing all this + more for $79.

As mentioned by other posters, I would be incredibly wary of the dealer trying to get you to replace parts that didn't need fixing.

  • Guys, I did not have a credit card and I gave my friend money and he used his credit card to purchase it and its got his name on the Gift Voucher/pdf document that you have to print out.

Is that still ok? as long as it is used for one vehicle ie, Mine

Does everyone have the same Expiration: May 24, 2011 ???

Let us know how it goes, if they provide a dodgy service or of inferiority quality, do they state what oil they be using? Some use recycled Oil which can ruin your engine… cause I will be using mine sometime in February 2011.

  • I used the car wash yesterday. No need to book, just went there, there was a bit of a wait, but all in all, it took 45 minutes, vacuum and wash, not bad. Was given a sticker to put on the windscreen for with an expiry date of 6 months down the track. Great Deal.

    • I was told that you will get the sticker only on the day of the car services, so for those not intending to get their cars serviced until a few months later you'll have to wait for your free car wash.
