  • Do you need a gatwway etc for it work with?

    • Yes you do.

      • Oh. How much is that for….

        • +2

          Take a look on Ozbargain

Here's the cheapest I can find at the moment, comes to $26.49.

  • Good price. Don't expect this before christmas though. Expect at the very minimum 3-4 weeks delivery. I'd buy more at this price if I didn't have enough already.

  • How long does it to receive something from Lightinthebox?

Bought a bunch of things from them recently… Wondering if I should wait till I receive it first before buying even more… :)

Edit: Saw the answer above. :)

it's really depends, shipping company and warehouse too busy recently

    • Recently cancelled my order with Litb, crappy shipping policies, promised me it would be shipped on a particular date, week goes by, still not shipped. Put my order in last month, still not delivered this month. If you're after anything in a reasonable time frame, do not order from litb. I could order something from TaoBao, send it to an agent and have it reshipped to Australia faster than they could get something out of their warehouse lmao. I suspect they don't actually have stock on hand and simply order things from china when customers put their orders in.

Look at the reps replies on this thread to Mahogany: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/348750

      Ridiculous lmao.

      • Agree, I'm cancelling.

        My item says:
        Processing Time:Ships in 24 hours
Shipping Time: Expedited Express 4-5 business days

I ordered Nov 27, item still hasn't even started shipping. Looking at 3 weeks minimum.. "express".

  • If I was to use it with hass.io, would I still need the gateway? Thanks

    • +1

Yes this talks to the gateway and the gateway talks to hass.io

    • yes

    • Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes you do. Hassio communicates with the gateway to enable the functionality. But you can stop gateway calling back to China which is a plus.

      • Is it software setting or you have to hack it to stop calling home?

        • Block the outgoing access via your router.

    • +1

I don't really see the point in this if you have hassio. I use the built in Bluetooth device tracker which has about a 5 metre radius. It turns on my lights just before I get to the door

      • Interesting. Can you share the automation script for this?

        • It's an add on which is included in the default repository

      • +1

Individual light control. Alarm control. Switching off air con when door is open etc.

      • +1

I saw people saying things like "when aircon is switching on it can notify you if you have any windows open"

      • +1

        I think it's called myopia?

      • I just downloaded home assistant so not very familiar with its functionality. When you say it tracks Bluetooth, do you mean the Bluetooth in your phone? What about when it’s your day off and you never leave the house, do the lights stay on until you cut the power?

        • Mine is set up to scan for Bluetooth devices every 12 seconds. If it does not sense my phones Bluetooth signal for 600 seconds it turns all my lights off

      • Ar you usIng an iphone? I found that my home assistant running on raspberry pi 3 cant detect my iphone unless i start scanning for new devices on my iphone. Would appreciate if you can help with this.

        • There are known issues with iPhone. Something to do with sleep mode. I have android

        • HA detects my wife's iphone no dramas but I'm not using bluetooth for presence detection, I'm using wifi (via the netgear component)

      • +1

This is useful in all sorts of applications that have nothing to do with bluetooth presence detection.

        • Exactly!

Maybe you just want a notification if you forgot to close your garage door
Turn off the aircon when someone opens a window
Maybe you have a cleaner that comes every week and you want to Keep a log of when the front door open/closed
Or maybe you just want a sensor icon on your HA web interface showing you if its open or closed.
          etc
          etc

  • i can not use the code where to put the code…?

    • Checkout page down the bottom

  • What is with the number 666 and the coupon code?
    Monty’s choice or vendor choice?

  • Can I use this to open the light in the garage when the garage door is open and the light automatically shuts off after 5 mins?

    • Yes, this is what I have set up but it will require the gateway and a xiaomi smart light globe (yeelight).
A thing to note is that the sensor wont work properly if it is placed directly on metal surfaces like the garage roller door.

  • The gateway with build-in alarm is not loud enough.

  • +1

These will also cure the world's biggest headache if taken orally.

    • Supposing it’s a suppository ?

  • Worth noting: Coupon gives you $2.80 off, and is single use per user.

  • Thanks op

  • Will this arrive in time for Christmas?

    • +2

      Very funny…

  • As I was reading the highlights I was imagining them being read out be ex-Melbourne City Council lord mayor John So.

  • Thanks OP ordered one

  • All this Xiaomi! Now just waiting for a decently discounted white Yeelight bulb and another A$35 Mijia desk lamp.

Not that I'm trying to hint or anything… ;)

  • Will these integrate into a control4 home automation system?

  • One use only per customer (email address?)

  • ordered

  • +1

"code is single use per user" should be added to description
