Sony 55'' X9000E 4K HDR TV $1660 @ The Good Guys

Sony 55" KD55X9000E TV

Part of Good Guys selective sale

The website says this TV is eligible for $100 cashback which I haven't included in the price as I wasn't sure how it works.

I've been tracking the price for a little while and it seems like a good deal? If anyone has any more input as to if this tv has been cheaper or how the cashback works, please feel free to chime in.

    Ok price I guess

No Bing Lee over here in WA, so probably one of the better deals if you can't access a Bing Lee

    • +5

Your Bing Lee deal excluded 95% of Australia. At least this is available to a lot more people.

If you have access to Racq Rewards, you can get TGG gift cards @ 5% off, bringing it down to $1577. Minus $100 cash back on top of that. Good deal.

      • Wait for 20% off selected ebay sellers and it will be same price again and probably at more stores.

        • There’s only four sellers currently seeking this model. The cheapest is Videopro @ $1776 plus $55 delivery (pick up not an option). So if there was a 20% off sale tomorrow (hypothetically), it’d be $1464 delivered. This deal is potentially $1477 including cash back, plus $35 delivery (this will vary of course) if delivery is required. So you could get this TV now for a good price, or keep waiting for another eBay sale that we don’t know when will happen to maybe save an extra $10 - $50?

  • What's the difference between this model and the X9300E?

    • x9300e is better.

      • +6

        About 300 better.

        • "This one goes to 300."

    • From what I've read the main difference is the Full Array Local Dimming on the 9300E is a little better.

      • Thanks!

        • +2

the Local Dimming is SLIGHTLY better due to its brightness and more zones, but it is not Full Array and the TV is a lot heavier.

        • Yep you're right sorry, didn't realise the 9300E is technically edge lit.

        • +3

          @krazynayba:

It is edge lit but top and bottom not left and right. Make sure to put it through its paces in store as this orientarion will cause greyer blacks in some areas give more haloing and can produce slight judder at times due to how the backlight has to scan.

  • It says "As Advertised price ends 10 December 2017"

  • Is any one having trouble applying this code while having 2 or more items in the cart? It seems to only discount one of the items

    Full Terms and Conditions

    3) To be eligible to receive the bonus, eligible products must be purchased at full ticket price.

Looks like 10% and the cash back do not stack up.

Gosh that's rubbish, but doesn't surprise me with The Good Guys. Thier 30 day price guarantee is also a joke.

      • Can you tell me more about their 30 day price guarantee? Since the boxing day is within 30 days, I am interested to know.

  • They jacked the price up to $1995

    • +1

The prices fluctuate incredibly often from every store. I've been keeping an eye out for this exact model since I missed out on the black Friday deal, Bing lee made the price back to ~$2000 and then when another store made it around $1700 for a day or two they also lowered it, and then it went back up. And a few days ago last week when JB had the Wednesday sale and sold it for $1700 Bing lee also matched it.

Also, if this helps I messaged Bing lee on Facebook to ask about their eBay sale, and they said their best price on the X9000E 55" was $1535 with free delivery and installation, so if anyone's looking to buy I'd message or ask first.

      • They'd do that price in store? That sounds like a deal to me! Thanks for the info

        • +1

Pretty sure it's in store, not sure how'd they apply the discount online, but I'd message their Facebook to see how they can sort it out.

Here's the exact message they sent me: https://imgur.com/a/iBqDg

        • @waysubsubway:

Hmm thats very interesting to me it almost sounds like if you contact and bing lee and 'make an offer' they'll be willing to go down to $1535

        • Yeah, all I asked is if their eBay deal was still on offer since their store was advertising it and they offered me that price. I'm going to wait til boxing Day, or when it hits closer to $1400 pricetag like it was during black Friday but I'm hoping it'll go closer to $1000 on boxing Day… Am I too optimistic for that price on this a TV?

        • @waysubsubway:

Yeah probably being bit optimistic for a 2017 model to hit that low of a price. But I'd imagine it would be close to the $1400 range for boxing day sales. With Amazon a player in the game now you never know, maybe they'll offer it for $999 during box day, as unlikely as that it is stranger things have happened.

  • What's the viewing angle like on these 9000-series LCD's? I have the 43" X8000 and the viewing angle is atrocious. Good picture but very poor drop-off viewing off-axis.

    • +1

Bad apparently. I have settled on this TV for my gaming setup (albeit the 65") but viewing angle is not a consideration based on my loungeroom setup.
      https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x900e

      • I wouldn't say bad but there are better options if you're willing to spend extra. I think rtings rated this specificific model the best in its price range all things considered and they're fairly reliable.

I've looked at this one in stores and it looked good to me but I didn't really rest the viewing angles.

Just out of curiosity though how are the viewing angles for you at home? I'm planning to get the 55" model and either place it at the end of my double sized bed (literally at the foot) or to the side and towards the end on a wall but now that you mention that it's not great I'm having second thoughts.

        • I haven't purchased it yet, but after a lot of research its the model I will be buying. Waiting for boxing day sales

        • Yeah I am waiting for boxing dale sales too. Really hoping it'll go for less than the black friday ~$1400 deal, but if it's around the same I'll just give in.

    • If you are looking for good viewing angle, check on IPS screen or OLED. But IPS is worse than the VA panel on Sony TV.

    • It does degrade but only if you are pretty far off centre. Either get an IPS panel which is basically half the picture quality and better viewing angles or get this, which has a VA panel and about the best picture you'll see… Pretty easy choice in my view!

  • Like probs worth paying the extra $600 for an LG OLED

  • I bought the 65" version of this for $1995 from Harvey Norman. Worth paying an extra ~$300 for the 65" IMO.

    • A 65X9000E for $1995? Can you double check your TV model.

      • Actually yeah my bad. It was the X7000E which I am guessing is a lesser model?

        • It is, you can check the comparison here.
