  • Can these be linked with the xiaomi gateway?

    • +3

Thats the only way they work :)

      • +1

You can also hook it with Samsung Smartthings hub (as it is using Zigbee)
I hook up with Smartthings and create automation rules via webCore

eg. When I open the door, my kitchen lights turn on

        • Good to know, I was never sure how Zigbee complaint these were.

      • Now I just need a deal for the gateway or the 5 in 1 :(

  • +2

Great price. I'm having fun setting these up with Home Assistant to do all sorts of things.

    • What uses have you come up with so far?

      • +6

Mostly messing around so far. I've had it chiming at the gateway, sending a message to my phone, and turning lights off or on.

My first production use will be to notify my wife and I when our kids (having been put to bed) open up their bedroom door. Probably notify by flashing a light and/or playing an alert tone. If we're watching TV, I may even get it to pause the show.

        • How does it send a message to your phone? I do also have a gateway on order but i don't think it has a sim slot. (Sorry i've never owned these before)

        • @rob359: I set up an automation in Home Assistant to use Pushover to send me notifications. You can do similar with Pushbullet, Facebook Messenger and apparently their iOS app does notifications too. All of the magic I do in Home Assistant, so that I can disable the phoning home of the gateway to China.

        • @t3chshopper:

I ran HA.io on my NAS and I found the coding to be ridiculously dense, and I'm a fairly techy nerd, with basic, basic programming skill. The language just doesn't seem to make sense or troubleshoot well for me…? And their documentation seems…. weak.

Do you have any good websites that have code samples for running the Xiaomi bits and pieces? Or can you perhaps drop your files here so we can have a look if you're in a sharing mood?

          @Thiefsie:

HAve you tried Domoticz? I tried HA on my NAS as well and found the coding difficult to grasp. DZEvents on Domoticz I found a lot easier and there is a great video guide as well as wiki page with heaps of useful info.

@Thiefsie: I feel you. I work with markup language, but YAML is a finnicky mess. I don't like it at all. I hope that one day, node-red is integrated to allow for a fancy drag-and-drop GUI for building automations.

I get everything from either www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant, or https://community.home-assistant.io.

Here's an example of a helpful thread:
          https://community.home-assistant.io/t/xiaomi-door-sensor-set…

I don't have access to my code at the moment, but I found the example at the bottom of the Xiaomi page to be a really helpful starting point.

          [@whatisk]

Thanks guys, I'll check out both Domoticz and your links t3chshopper. That should get me started a bit more successfully.

        • @t3chshopper: That sounds super.. I do have pushover .. can't wait to get my hands on these now.

      • +2

One more thing. If a bedroom door is open for more than 5 seconds and the air conditioning is on, play an alert tone. If it remains open for more than Y seconds, turn off the air conditioner using the broadlink.

    • Really! I'm waiting for 3 of these. What sort of things?

  • Grabbed one to play around with.

    Thanks!

got one. Would love a code to buy these in bulk…. 10-20 units. How about it Gearbest Rep?

    • +1

    Too slow :(

The Code you entered has expired

  • +3

expired? crap just missed out again. bloody colleage wouldn't shut up, slowing my checkout.

bloody colleage wouldn't shut up, slowing my checkout.

Damn work getting in the way of you being paid to shop online, who do they think they are!?

      • +1

ozb is love, ozb is life.

  • "The Code you entered has expired."

Price shown as $10.75 after applying the coupon.

Something strange going around with all these popular sites lately. Even though we see the deal in OZB, applying the coupon doesn't really decrease the price to the posted amount in here. I tried many times my changing the price to USD and then going into Paypal etc.

I didn't neg before but now on I will start otherwise it's just waste of time for everyone trying to get the price posted in here.

    • +2

The only time I've ever had an issue is if I had more than one in my cart. If the deal is good for up to a certain number, I've found you need to do a separate order for each one to get the discount on all of them.

    • The post said 'Limited to first 100 stock'. This post has had 686 clicks, so it makes sense that it's expired.

If a deal has expired, you're better off reporting it as expired, so that it can be flagged as such. This was a great price for these, so negging would be misleading.

  • Oh, I'm too slow

  • THIS IS EXPIRED.
Adding coupon only increase price by $4. MODs please mark this as expired.

    • FYI, you can use the Report button at the bottom of the description to report it as expired.

    • +2

      Reverse coupon

  • Wow that was fast

  • I thin considering how many sendors people nedd they should have these deals with 1000 not 100 ….. You might have 1 gateway but lots of sensors …..

  • Lol, so I was able to apply the code before paying with Paypal, and the price showed $6.37. After logging into Paypal and confirming payment, I didn't double check the price and the code actually added approximate $4 to the price. So instead of $6.37 or even the normal price at $10.75, it deducted $14.31 from my paypal account… wtf??

    • Thats cheating. as we pay from paypal that should be the final amount.

      • Yeah, i'm not sure how it happened about, I've never had issues with Gearbest before. I've logged a support ticket asking them to review the order.

  • Is there any Xiaomi smart wifi wall switch that connects to the wiring of the light bulbs?
There is something that has nothing to do with the wiring and is just a wireless switch that can be installed on the wall or anywhere else similar to their normal wifi switch.

    • no, they have wireless wall switches that talk to the yee bulbs via the app, but not hardwired.

    • Yes.

There is a wired switch that lets you turn dumb bulbs info smart ones. However it'd be illegal to install in Australia.

It's called xiaomi aqara wall switch (there is wireless and wired version)

  • Coupon no worky.

  • smart enough to work as a cat door sensor? need to do a few things automatically when the damn creature gets back home

  • +1

Just updated code. Get in quick before its used up.

    • tried to order 5, price goes from 53.70 -> 64.24 with that code

      • seems to be a limit of 1

  • It keeps saying it's $6.45USD for me.
