Vodafone Plan Migration

Hi Everyone,

I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I currently have 3 accounts with Vodafone. Two of them are on an old $50 sim only plan (outside of contract) on which i receive a loyalty discount making it $35 a month per account.

A couple of weeks ago i received an email from Vodadone advising that my plan will be migrated to the new $50 sim only plan in the next billing cycle.

I don't want to be moved over as the new plan does not suit my needs (The country that I call internationally has been removed from their list of countries where I can use my international minutes)

I've called and spoken to them a couple of times and have been told different things. First I was told I don't have to migrate if I don't want to and then I was told too bad I can't do anything about it.

To make matters worse I've also been told that I will lose the loyalty discount on both of them. So I will end up paying $100 a month as opposed to the $70 I currently pay for both the accounts combined.

Was wondering if anyone has any experience in relation to this and can guide me in the right direction to some of my options.

I've searched online however most info is in relation to plan changes within contract and I wasn't able to find much info which is suitable for my situation.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advanced !!!

My own experience is, if they move you off a legacy plan, they tend to give some incentive.

When it comes to calls and data inclusions, they tend to move you to the current "equivalent or better" plan and give a monthly credit so that you're not paying more than what you were paying before.

So in the end, you've got the higher benefits at the same price.

    • Thanks for the info. I'm going to try and chat with someone again to see what they can do. Thus far it seems that i have no option to decline the move :(

Good luck with it - I know some people have had bad experiences with Vodafone and I may be an exception, but I've only got good things to say about them. I've been with them for just under 20 years - during then, I had a short stint away with Optus for a period of 18 months and went back.

I guess it might help if you do some research to find that equivalent (or next level up) plan and speak to them about the possibility of a monthly credit. If they agree, get them to make that change on the spot - that way you know exactly what you're getting rather than waiting for them to make the switch and not really know what you're getting until it's probably too late.

If you are on a plan which gives calls to certain countries then you will be moved and you can’t stop it.

In the middle of 2016 a lot of connection rates were increased which made a lot of countries very expensive to connect too.
The phone network in the country charges the Australian teleco a fee to connect the call and also a per minute rate. Countries like Serbia, Sri Lanka and others out their rates up which is why most companies in Australia no longer offfer these countries.

The decision was made to remove people from the plans that offered these countries (old olans were any country) and there is no system in place to prevent the change.

If you are out of contract then Vodafone is allowed to change your plan. Discounts are usually only valid while you are in contract (current plan discounts are set with an expiry of your contract term by the system now old ones stayed until you changed your plan)

Sadly you can call as many times as you like but you won’t prevent the change. The plan you are currently on is $50 officially and as such they have offered you a plan which matches the price of your current one. They don’t take discounts into account when migrating you.

The new plans will be month to month so you can leave if it does not suit you.

If you lock your new contracts in for 12 months however you can get a discount but it won’t be $15p/m

    • Awesome, thanks for clearing that up :)
