    ozadvertising?

  • Isn't Amaysim doing unlimited 1GB $5 for first 6 months (new customers)?
$10 after that, though jump to new offer by then.

    • What?? I just signed up to this, didnt know about the 6 mths half price :(

    • Where are you seeing this half price deal? I can't find it in their website

      • It is $5 off the plans for the first six months but that does not include the $10 plan but only higher plans.

      Amaysim's 5$ discount isn't eligible for the 10$ package.

If this is your requirements, go with Aldi PAYG with 365 days credit expiry

    https://www.aldimobile.com.au/plans/payg/

    • This comes with 200 minutes of calls, unlimited sms / mms & 500MB.

So it does, hopefully a power user or mod can edit the description to add those details in the description

Aldi Mobile is a fair comparison though, as you aren't paying a set amount every month, so it may work out even cheaper for low users. A $15.00 recharge can potentially last 1 year.

The call rates are $0.12 a minute, sms $0.12.

    • 60c a year just to receive calls with Amaysim As You Go.. no contract.
Need to make one outgoing call @15c min or a txt every 3 mths.

      • what is the minimum recharge? can you only recharge 60c?

    • We can do the same with Amaysim PAYG. You can hold as long as you want.

    • I saw lebara’s PAYG is 2c per MB, credit lasts for a year, although I think they’re on Vodafone.

for those looking, the 30gb plan only appears to be on optus 3g, as opposed to the other plans which specify 3g/4g.

    • +1

Optus 3G? haha good luck with data!

  • Kogan $10 u/l calls txt & 1gb beats this even for $2 more.

    • Sorry, where is this plan?

    • +1

if $2 p/m is important and the 500mb and extra calls arent important i dont see why this is bad. sometimes plans just suit some people better. after all its $24 a year. Not bad.

    Uses Optus network

Why would someone neg that comment!? Comment was informative

Most important piece of information, lacking from deal info.

        • +2

Agreed. Any MVNO I want to know who the network is operated by. It's title worthy info.

Does anyone know anything about Moose? I haven't heard of them before today..?

Perhaps Optus realises they're losing customers so selling their bandwidth to other companies is an answer to that?

I wonder if Moose will have their own csos or will borrow Optus operators.

Brave New world with a brave new telco.

I noticed with Optus that their postpaid mobile broadband 100gb p.m. ($70) deal (which I like) (I tried real hard to use 100gb in a month and couldn't get anywhere near it- for 1 person tho. Great for a big family)… If you suspend it if you're going away, borrowing WiFi for a while etc… There is a $5.50 charge over the suspended period…per month. Could always cancel, get new SIM, go thru credit check process each time I spose. Just letting you know.

This Moose could be a better option for me. .. unless they turn out to be a pita telco. I might have to call them up and see how receptive they are…

  • Holy cow that's cheap!
I haven't heard of this telco though, does anyone have any beef with them?

Moose Mobile. Has a certain ring to it.

My ex uses them, so far so good tech support was Aussie when I called them once.

Thanks OP, my aunt wanted me to recommend something cheap for her, this looks like it!!

  • Exetel Super Saver $9.95 per month, includes $300 of calls, unlimited text, and 1Gb of data, on Optus 4G network. Free activation, 12 month contract.

    • $300 of calls doesn't mean much. Maybe they charge $300/minute

    • 12 month contract

That is the deal breaker for many.

  • What happens to excess data? Does it get capped or are they trying to trap you with excess?

    • 1.5c MB, so $15/GB (but at least it is only charged as used, so if you go 10MB over you only have to pay 15c not $10 like Optus and Telstra (who make you buy a whole GB up front when you go over, even if your billing cycle only has a few hours left and you can't use it).

This would be a good combination with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/346072 and keep a WiFi dongle in your bag. If you just need to quickly send an email or look at a map you can use your Moose data, or if you need to do something more involved connect to the dongle. You don't need to worry about having more data than you need with a plan (so it disappears at the end of the month) just for the odd occasion where you need a bit of extra data, and you don't have to recharge a whole $20 or $30 just to get the calls back like on prepaid, and even cheaper to boot. You have unlimited calls always for a low price, and data when you need it.

This is where dual sim phones come in handy.

  • OVO $10 has less minutes, but you get 1GB data. Uses Optus network.

    • SMS/MMS is only OZ, not international, and excess call charges are a lot higher with OVO

  • BEWARE this is not a prepaid service. It is postpaid service and excess data & call charges can mount up if you are not careful
