Thought id share this - been on the market now but @ $154 (down from $179) I just had to pick one up to upgrade my normal kindle reader. Pretty good deal which I havnt seen before. Maybe lowered price due to Amazon entering market soon?

I'm curious what Amazon's price will be when they finally open. The .au page is all emphasis on kindle books atm. Possible hint they want Australians to have more kindles.
Well it's currently on special for USD$80 on amazon.com which is probably for cyber Monday and equates to about AUD$118. Not bad!

@baldur: Nah, those won't ship directly to Oz - you'd need to reship. Their 'international version' that does ship here is still $139USD on their site…

(for those that what to read library epub books)…. download Calibre - free software (on the Ozbargain spirit) it will convert ebook to mobi for Kindle…
They have changed the price back up to $174. I had it in my cart for the previous price an hour ago and when i went to purchase it updated the price when i went to checkout argh.
Interesting, I checked out Amazon australia today and they are listing the paperwhite at $179.
i saw that. youd think they would offer it significantly cheaper than retail, given its their product! Video games seem cheap, thats about it at the moment….

Knowing it's been cheaper, I'm happy to hold out til boxing day. Prob ebay does another 5%.
And the 3g at $249 seems a real jip. I'm lazy when it comes to downloading to consume the next day. But not $90 difference lazy.

@baldur: It's currently same price $159 on ebay officeworks. Assuming no price-jacking (they usually do) could save 5% .. so $8 which probably isn't worth the wait for most people but I'm in no rush myself.
@baldur: oh whoops. Yeah I'm not holding my breath over Amazon going any cheaper tbh. Ebay codes have been frequent this year though.

I am thinking of taking Scribd subscription to download pdf books and then convert format to put them in Kindle. Has anyone done this? Thanks
Calibre software will convert PDF and eBook to Mobi, may have some formatting issues but Calibre is free so worth a try first, not sure what you can get on subscription though!
