  • Got one of these from gearbest and can't get rid of the static in the sound. Tried changing the fm frequency using the roidmi app but still has static. Anyone know what the problem could be?

    • Try taking the antenna off your car, depending on where you live you should still be able to pickup FM stations without the antenna and should have less statice with the transmitter

    • I had an issue with a cheapo usb powered bluetooth>3.5mm gizmo where if powered from the cigarette lighter it would have a static like hiss when I accelerated. The issue went away if I used a portable USB charger. My point is maybe your power source is causing the static.

  • Apparently, the 3S is worse than 2S.

    • At least the new connection means it'll work in most people's car though.

  • Is there a chance that these things drain the car battery? My car battery died and as far as I know no one left a light on etc. This device was however plugged in. I guess depending on the car, if it's plugged in all the way it will drain power through the lighter socket?

Lesson learnt there as far as I'm concerned. Don't keep it plugged in! (Although I have no proof at this stage that this is what drained the battery…)

    • Does it still charge your phone when the engine is off?
Nearly all cars today cut power to the cigarette lighter socket when the engine is off. If you can't charge your phone when the engine is off, that means the device is not getting any power from the car, so it can't drain the battery. Maybe your battery is just old?
