Flymote AF106 Wireless USB Remote for Home Theatre (with Air Mouse) US $5.69 (~AU $7.50) @ GearBest

70

Great simple remote for Kodi, or as a backup for Android-TV.
Wireless with USB dongle, so works on just about anything.

Has an air-mouse function, which can be handy for configuration.

You will want to load a config file for Kodi so the middle button works as play/pause without needing to double-click.

  • Is it actually an 'airmouse' where you move the unit around to control the mouse or is it one that you use arrow keys to move the cursor around the screen? Last lot I bought claimed to be airmouse by weren't actually.

  • Yes, one of the buttons turns on the airmouse.
But for Kodi you'd normally have that off.

  • Thanks OP, got one

  • Good find OP. However, the Flymote AF106 is missing a "play/pause" button, and has no "ff" or "rewind". For just $10.26 - delivered (from same supplier) you can get the TZ MX3 which has play/pause, ff & rewind (although only "rewind" works in Kodi), learning function (5 keys max) is backlit and has full qwerty keyboard. The MX3 gets very good reviews.http://androidpcreview.com/best-air-mouse/2920/ http://hometheatrelife.com/best-air-mouse/

Good point. I should have mentioned you need to load a keymap.xml file in Kodi for best results.

      That fixes your problem.

the TZ MX3 which has play/pause, ff & rewind (although only "rewind" works in Kodi),

And a ton of other buttons! If you need a backlight on a remote, you're doing it wrong. Way too many buttons - its now a keyboard.
(again, fix your buttons by loading the right keymap.xml in Kodi.
I also have the Mele F10, which is similar.

Don't you prefer the elegance of an AppleTV or AndroidTV remote? I do!

      • Yep, it has a play/pause button.

        • What does? They all have buttons. Their function is up to the player.
Both Android-TV and the original Apple TV use the same button for play and OK.

The problem is with the default settings in Kodi. It is easily fixed.

  • No argument from me, manic - just personal choice/preference.
