Cheeky EB Games Switch-a-Roo

So on Wednesday I thought I'd call up EB to find out how much I'd get for trading in my original 500GB ps4 as I knew there would be some deals for black friday… I was told $150, not bad, was planning to get the 500GB slim with crash bandicoot for $319..

Anyhoo I go in today all ready to buy my new console and those cheeky buggers have reduced the buy price of the 500GB ps4 to $120… :(

You really want the slim version huh?

That's the thing about a free market …

Don't understand why you would lose $$ just to get a slim version?

maybe he has slim body figure now compare with before. so buying slim to match.

    • If he has the original chassis they get much hotter and louder. Not a deal breaker to me but it is annoying.

      • yes my fans are always running and while it's not a huge annoyance, it would be nice to have the newer, quieter unit… slim also has AC wireless which is a huge plus as 2.4ghz channels in my area are badly saturated.

        • I still have the original PS4, mine sounded like it was going to take off, until I cleaned my fans. All you need is a T9 Torx screwdriver, and you just have to peel off these stickers (that void the warranty) to get into the PS4.

There are tons of videos on YouTube on how to clean your PS4, I cleaned mine just today and it only took me about 5-10 minutes.

You can used a can of compressed air or a small vacuum, any works best.

Either give it a good clean or sell it for around $300, or keep the quiet console.

This right here… OzBargain community for you!!

    • thank you for the offer! I'm not unfortunately, although I think I'm level 2! so 10% isn't too bad.

The average sold price on eBay appears to be over $300 - see, you weren't looking for a good price really!

    • it was more convenience to be honest.. but good point.

Convenience for the sake of being ripped off by EB. They're gunna flip your console for twice the price they paid you for it and make a nice tidy profit. Don't do it! Sell privately, reduce the gap between old and new purchase, you may even end up paying close to nothing if you time it with an eBay 20% off deal.

  • Is there anywhere on the EB Games website where you can check the trade-in value of your games?

    • Nope! You have to call your local store and hope they answer. If they don't, be prepared to lug them down to the store so that they can lowball the shit out of them. Once there you'll be more likely to accept their shitty offer as you look around at all the shiny pre order boxes cluttering up the store. Once they have your games watch them price gouge the shit out of them on resale. It's the EB way.

      • At least you can see what CeX offer you on webuy.com.au and do a comparison. If you have a CeX store near your EB store you can just trade the ones where they offer more than CeX (assuming you have your heart set on trading)

Yep. I don't do much trading but from what I hear both Cex & JB Hi-Fi both offer better trade value compared to EB. EB's trade value is complete arse.
