    • The product link certainly keeps the mystery, so thanks for that.

For any other noobs, it is cooking food in a plastic bag, in boiling(heated) water.

  • I have one of these, very cool little device.

  • Not sure if it's just me, but don't use the Ikea sandwich baggies for this, used it three times and each time, water got in and stuff leaked out as well. Not sure how to fully clean my Anova… But just bought the target sealer so hoping for great results from now!!

    • +1

Not sure how to fully clean my Anova

Just add a little detergent to the water and set a temperature lower than the water. Let Anova circulate for a few minutes.

  • I held off earlier in the month, a couple more dollars off twisted my arm.

  • In the same deal the bluetooth one is only $149.00 https://au.anovaculinary.com/ I bought the wifi/bluetooth version thinking I needed it to set it going before I got home but now realise I have to plan ahead and have it organised before I leave home so I just use the bluetooth and cook while I am at home.

    • Wifi has ice bath, for setting up for long period before starting to cook

      • I would then need to remember/plan ahead to make ice for a meal that I haven't even thought about. Maybe over the Christmas period when real meal planning takes place.

    • The wifi one also works wit a Google Home/Google Assistant, so using your smartphone you can talk to it and give it instructions outside the house!!!

  • Does anyone do veggies with this, we don’t eat a lot of meat.

    • You could have a look here https://recipes.anovaculinary.com/recipes/vegetables which is where I/my wife have tried a few recipes. Although the vegies were fine, for speed and personal preference steaming is still our main way of cooking vegetables. I am not sure that I would buy this for a once or twice a week meat cook but for 4 or 5 days a week just call me Heston

    • The Sous Vide Everything channel on YouTube that I follow doesn't do many vegetables but I remember they did a few vegetable side dishes that you might want to try.

Mashed Sweet Potato side dish to go with the turkey. They prepare the sweet potatoes at 1:53 and taste it at 6:51.
"Hasselback TURKEY Sous vide for Thanksgiving":

Lightly seasoned carrots side dish to go with chicken. They prepare the carrots at 1:30 and forgot about it until 6:28.

      • thanks for the info. Can these things be stored lying down. I know Bamix's need to be standing up.

        • No idea. I don't own any Sous Vide circulators. I just like watching the cooking :)

        • @Manh: You seriously need a lava lamp or a spa.

    • Oh, they put up a new video and they did a potato side dish.

Blowtorched Roasted Potatoes side dish for the turkey. Prepared the potatoes at 2:24 and tasted it at 6:29.

  • Anova also have "stasher" bags that are silicon and reusable so you don't have to keep throwing out plastic bags. Has anyone tried them?

  • Just got mine the other day. Did anyone else get hit by an international transaction fee from their credit card company?

    • Hi, I purchased on my Coles Mastercard, Iirc that does have international fees but I didn't get an international transaction charge.
