Just wanted to add, that Leatherman has a great warranty program. I sent a few Leatherman in to get fixed, and received it back by the end of the same week.

    • Oh I didn't know they have this in Australia. Do you have to include proof of purchase as well?

I wonder if you could send the tools in for a general service/ blade sharpening?

In Australia, Leatherman Warranty is handled by a Third Party (Zen Imports). Doesn't require a proof of purchase, but does require you submit an online form here with the model and problems that you have with your Leatherman

As far as I'm aware, they just replace the tool (unless you selected sentimental value on the warranty form, which they will try to repair the item).

        • @RichardL and @ kevmev12 - Excellent info. Thank you for sharing.

        • Great to hear.
I might check mine out when i get home and see if it needs a good clean/service

No need for proof of purchase. I found my old Leatherman Wave (over 10 years old) that was in a terrible condition - rusted over, chipped blade, broken scissors. Sent it in for warranty without a proof of purchase, they sent me a brand new looking one back by the end of the week. It could be a refurbished one, but it looks and feel brand new. Very happy customer here!

Good deals on Leatherman (men?) recently. just make sure you don't take as carry-on luggage….

I even had my partner leave on in her bag during security check, and they picked it up but let us put it in checked. Most people realize they are tools not offensive weapons.

      • From the Leatherman FAQ Page

CAN I GET ON A COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT CARRYING MY LEATHERMAN TOOL?
No at this time you cannot pass through the security checkpoint with a Leatherman tool. You may however, stow it in your checked luggage that travels under the plane. We do make one model, the Style PS that follows all the TSA specifications, for a carry-on multi-tool, but remember - ultimately it is up to the discretion of the individual TSA agent as to what they will let you carry or not. For the latest federal regulations, please visit www.tsa.gov.

So it usually depends on the security that checks your luggage. My mum had her Classic Swiss Army Knife taken during security check point on a domestic flight.

Upvote for Knives-online who has great customer service
Had something not arrive via courier after ordering. Very quickly sorted out with replacement delivered next day!

  • I know the Wingman has scissors, a half serrated knife edge and is a bit heavier, but is there any other justification to spend the extra dough on it over the Rev?

    • +2

The Wingman has Spring Loaded Pliers while the Rev has Standard Pliers. Also Wingman has the Scissor but the Rev doesn't.

EDIT: Watch this YouTube for a comparison of the Rev, Sidekick and Wingman.

      • Ah yes that too. Read an older post and most recommend the Wingman so looks like I'll go that way!

        • +2

I also recommend the Wingman as I own one myself.

EDIT: The Wingman and Sidekick are similar if you prefer a Saw (Sidekick) over the Scissors (Wingman)

        • @RichardL: I have the Sidekick! It is awesome!

      • Thanks for the good comparison video

  • Thanks OP. I love my Charge Ti and Wave, so was happy to pick up a little Wingman at this crazy price as a backup multi-tool.

Nice to have a Wingman looking out for you! ;)

  • Leatherman or Swiss Army Knife? Which is just more functional/handy?

Looks like Swiss Army is more compact? While the leatherman (wingman) would be better to use?

    • Not certain sorry. Think I saw there was a related video comparing them in YouTube link above.

    • Really depends on use and the model of the SAKs and Leatherman.
