Trent86 is back! Good to have u back, Trent!

  • This special offer is only available to new users. - confirmed.
Banner only offered me 90 days.

    • 3 months is still not bad

      • Also only for new users. So 0days for that account.

    • Only offered me 60 days for one of my existing accounts…

    • +2

Changed back to old Play account & got 120 days😁
Had activated 120 days free before.
Cancelled subscription straight away, ends 21/3/18.

      • How did you do that? so had 2 google accounts?

        • Yes, only 2😢 Unlike some others.

Just needed to change account in Play. Says downloaded music on that account will be removed, but had only used for streaming. Old account had not been used in more than a year, so qualified for offer.

  • Yep, new users only, of course.

    • Shows $11.99/month for me (not new user).

  • YouTube red included? Or does it only work the other way around

    • Interested to know too

    • +1

      Should be

    • +11

YouTube Red always comes with Google Play Music subscription.

    • +4

Definitely included… Makes Google Play Music Subscription easily the best value in my books.
(plus I get to pay for it with my Telstra Credit…)

      • Hasn't that all finished up now or whatever happened to it?

        • Google Play Billing is still going for those of us on Freedom Plus Prepaid… But I expect it'll be disabled at some stage, it's just too good to be true.
The recent changes were more about buying ringtones and dodgy crap like that.

        • @scubacoles: But the question is, can you still activate on Freedom Plus Prepaid?

        • @pennypincher98:
Freedom Plus is no more… so no.
If you already have Freedom Plus but never activated Google Play billing, I have no idea whether you still can or not. It would surprise me if not.

        • @scubacoles: Just tested this. Can still subscribe using Telstra billing.

        • @IIMurphaII:

I'm still on FP too. I hope it gets grandfathered forever!

Basically get all my YT/Music/Apps/Books/Movies Free :)

And I'm still sitting at over $200 telstra credit despite all the above purchases!

        • +1

          @lozza6:

          add nextflix then :)

        • @kimyongjeon:

Woh… you can spend telstra credit on netflix???

        • +2

          @lozza6:

I think i was able to subscribe netflix on google play store which you can use teltra credit to pay the bill….? just have a look at the billong options :)

        • @kimyongjeon:

          OMG…

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/245174

Talk about being late to the party!!!!!!!!!!!

          Thanks!!!!!!

        • +1

          @lozza6:

          lol congrats! enjoy :)

  • Offering me 60 days free as a previous free trail user

  • Change title please - it’s not probably new users, it’s definitely for new users only. Gave me false hope…damn you! shakes fist

  • +4

I'm not a new user and I got 120 days. Odd

    • Have you used GP Music in the last 12 months? I think there is something about users that are "recontracting" after more than 12 months

    • Same, got 120 days despite using the service in the past.

    • as long are you have been inactive for more than 12months, you should be able to claim the offer.

    • same
      last trial >12mths

    • Same here, full 120 days - seems these work if you allow your account to lay dormant for a while between freebies.

  • +4

    Link: http://play.google.com/music/listen?coupon=120DFREE&couponty…

Indeed coupon 120DFREE is working again and this should be for new users.

    • The code doesn't work for me, do I need a code as a new user?

      • Code is already incorporated in the link, you need the code to redeem the offer regardless.

  • +1

Got 120 days myself. Can you cancel the subscription and still get the free 120 days or does it stop when you cancel?

    • -1

      Yes.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Managed to sign up for the 4 months free.
For IOS users, here’s the link to cancel your subscription:
    http://play.google.com/store/account

And you will still have access until the trial ends. Just cancelled and mine says “Cancels on Mar 21, 2018”

  • +2

I nearly have more Google accounts than credit cards

    • Lol I surpassed that a while ago..

      • There’s not as many first year free annual fee + bonus points credit card offers these days, amiright?

        • More the fact I couldn't be bothered to apply for them.

Credit cards are bad, they make you think that you have money you don't lol

        • +1

@pennypincher98: I tend to agree, but now I finally have some “complimentary” first class reward flights upcoming thanks to my card churn effort.
Would I normally fly first class? Of course not!
Will I be parading my OzBargain t-shirt up there? You’re goddamn right I will.
Will I ever be able to fly again? I don’t want to talk about that. 😥

        • +1

@muncan: Haha that is a true Ozbargainer's response right there :)
          Enjoy your first class flights!

  • Not a new user but still got 120 days. Happy. Thanks, OP.

  • +2

FYI If you buy a google home, being on this 4 month "Trial" makes you ineligible for the free 6 months.

But you can always do the ozb way and just make a new account

    • Where is the 6 month trial?

      • +2

Comes with google homes and maybe a few other google products

    • So you couldn't take up the free 6 months after this 4 month 'trial' expires?

    • I found that the google home one was connected to google home not my account and its only youtube red not google music

  • Im not a new user quite happy with my 120 days free. Thanks OP

  • Of course this happens once I decided to take up their one month trial.

    • Of course this happens once I decided to take up their one month trial

Easy, just make a new account for the 4 months.

  • Cheers OP, my current trial was just about to run out :)

  • My life will never be the same again. No ads on Youtube?

    Is this real life?

    Thank OP!

    • +4

Don’t forget to block those YouTubers who embed ads into their videos. I’m looking at you, Linus, Wendover and others.

      • I don't watch those particular channels, but I suspect many are being pushed in that direction by the demonetisation issue. Kinda sucks that you don't get the ad-free experience promised by YouTube Red, but a lot of the blame for that should go to YouTube.

In any case, it's a much more benign, traditional form of advertising. No malware delivery mechanism. No tracking. No browser slowdown.

      • Lots of podcasts do ads like this too. If it's done properly (marked clearly as an ad, "sponsored by" etc), it's preferable over invasive ad tracking scripts and buggy unskippable ad clips. They're not creepy targeted ads based on data Google has on you, they're the same ads for everyone. You can just skip forward and avoid the ad anyway.

        • It’ll be a tough sell for YouTube to continue charging customers a premium to remove ads when this becomes the norm. Though Foxtel has already been there, done that.

    • +2

      Just use adblock?

      • Can't it's a live ad they read in their videos, I just skip past it.

      • Mobile

  • +1

How did people who are not new users get this? I followed the link but it says I'm not eligible because I had a trial some time ago

    • +2

      Sign out & up

  • +1

Thanks. I got 120 days even though i had previously used a 90 day trial, but it expired over a year ago.

  • About time.. my last one finished 3-4 weeks ago ;-)

  • How long do these deals usually run for?

  • Can confirm it works for existing user. Mine expired yesterday (cancelled auto renewal) and signed up for this

But somehow i couldn't get the 6 months free from google home, I only got 1 month offer. Oh well win some lose some

    • also a bit regretting as my old plan was $9.99/month and this will be charged $11.99/ month after the trial ends

over time will eat up the savings :/

  • No matter whether I am logged in or out I get taken to this page: https://play.google.com/music/listen.

How do you load the trial sorry?

  • I'm having an issue where I'm shown the four months but can't click subscribe, is anyone else having this issue and overcome it? I've tried multiple accounts. Will try safari on my mac rather than chrome.

    • Opened safari and it now works. I restarted chrome and the computer, and still didn't work?

  • Does it charge you $1 ?

    • assume you signed up with credit card
they charge the $1 to confirm it the card you put it works
it should charge back once they confirm payment

      • thanks just waiting for the balance to clear on my debit card. I can then sign & forget haha

  • will this top up with my existing free 6 months?

  • /how can I get this without having to sign out of my current google account?

I mean, can I keep using my devices as is but add this through an account I create new because I am not legible for this

  • Signed up for 4 months. Thanks OP. Youtube red seems to work.

  • Where does Youtube videos get downloaded by the way on IOS. Does it gets downloaded in the Youtube app or on the phone?

  • just had a quick look, custom playlists are terrible comparing to spotify, may have to wait a little longer

  • Can I buy gift card from supermarkets to pay monthly fees?

  • +1

    Damn thought it said RedTube
    :P

  • Thanks OP, made a new Google account for this, happy to see that Android supports multi-user.

  • Thanks OP. Recreated 2 accounts. Might cancel Spotify family next year and changeover to Google play family subs. Youtube red is worth paying for

  • Thanks OP, worked for me

  • Not a new user, have previously used a 3 month free trial, still got the 4 months

  • Which is better spotify premium or google music?

  • +2

as someone who actually pays for youtube red, this pisses me off ….

    • ha me too

    • I created a new account and availed this offer and cancelled my yt red subscription. 4 months free YT Red. Then I can get back to paying

    • Why? The more users by getting people hooksd, the less likelyhood of a price hike in the future

      • +1

Umm.. to not having to pay yt red sub for 4 months…

  • I had just missed out on the three months free offer.

Good to see this offer come by, signed up +1

  • How to activate without creditcard/paypal?
Can one somehow add a small amount of credit to their google account and use that for activating free things?

  • How are people creating "new accounts"? Don't you have to be logged into the account on your phone/PC?

    • There’s a long explanation of the process up here

  • Why is this so popular? I thought these services (namely YouTube Red) were pretty average?
